The head in the market aisle reference was a nice touch. I watched the trilogy backwards as a teenager starting with Nowhere. I still prefer Nowhere because it seems more refined and surreal. Gritty violence isn't always my thing. I actually randomly watched Smiley Face recently after having taken a deceptively strong edible not knowing it was an Araki film going in. It was a fun experience considering it mirrored my state of mind, especially every time the fourth wall was broken. I'll have to watch it sober to see if it still holds up. Along with the Teen Apocalypse trilogy again.

The Doom Generation and Nowhere are 2 of the best movies of all time and I'm sick of pretending they aren't.

I remember seeing it in the theater. I liked it, though bizarre.

That flick was crazy. I remember I accidentally saw that around 96 on cable tv at midnight on a weekday. Also accidentally I videotaped it. There began my fandom of Doom Generation. Honestly I dont think I saw the other two parts, but the scenes, lights, sets and topics of this movie had a huge impact on my teen self. Back then I wasn’t even aware of the queer approach, I only thought Amy was hot as hell and X was way too cool. And I gotta say that back in the Twin Peaks and Natural Born Killers days this was new and shiny and futuristic as cinematography goes. So many amazing grunge/indie flicks back than. Singles? Smoke? Omg. Anyways, this movie was ripped off in Natural Born, when Mickey n Mallory exit the chemists. I think about the different color backgrounds as they are running away.

There that line when James says he feels like a gerbil in Richard Gere’s butt. I mean where do you get dialogue like that. Rose McGowan’s autobiography, “Brave” was a surprisingly really good read. She talks about making this movie.
