what is even more remarkable, he did this speech in ONE TAKE, word perfect first time. If you look in the background you can see the girls crying, thats how good he was, and got a standing ovation after. While 4th is my doctor and always will be, he could never do this, hes plain not old enough!!!!

When he says he was going to press another button he didn't mean a setup like this. He's referring to something more akin to almost pressing the nuclear launch button

@@thehybrid3947 He doesn't remember not pressing it, because of presence of his older self. Since The Day of The Doctor 11 and next regenerations remember those events because 11 was the oldest one there. Also I'm not sure why do you think the "screams" line must be about using the Moment. It's not like the Doctor jumped into the war and immediately decided to nuke everyone

There is one tiny detail I absolutely love about this scene. It's when the Doctor repeats the line "not on my watch" to Bonnie, but this time he says "not on our watch". Beautiful.

in the doctors scenario. the box was called the moment also known by the timelords as the galaxy eater. a sentient bomb the timelords described as a weapon only the doctor was mad enough to use. the bomb would of destroyed both timelords and the daleks as well as gallifrey and the dalek fleet. the doctor allowed clara to talk him out of pressing the button. making the doctor rethink the situation and choosing to freeze gallifrey in a single point in time so it was safe and hidden and the daleks would kill themselves in there crossfire. when he talked to zygella about the box he was making sure she didnt go through with the war and maintain peace

Capaldi's time as the Doctor might not have been the greatest of WHO, but there's a real strong argument that he's been the best actor to play the role. His speeches were always amazing. Great reaction man, thank you.

Capaldi had some insanely impressive speeches although my favourite will always be Matt Smith. His Doctor was softly spoke and generally happy so when he got angry or started shouting it was always a powerful moment that gave me goosebumps.

I don't understand the sentiment that Capaldi's run wasn't that great. He had arguably the highest amount of consistently good episodes, season 9 is a very popular fan favourite series, his run features the best master of new who, the best cyberman stories of new who, the best christmas specials of new who, and the best episode in Heaven's Sent. Top that off with his spectacular acting and portrayal of the character and I would argue he had one of the best runs of any doctor (maybe even the best).

For context, Bonnie is of a species of shapeshifters called Zygons. They'd tried to invade Earth, but the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors facilitated a treaty between them and the humans by temporarily erasing everyone's memories of which side they were on. However Bonnie was of a splinter cell of Zygons who got radicalized into terrorists who wanted to go back to taking over Earth rather than simply living among humans. It's almost a direct metaphor for religious extremism.

If only humanity were capable of thinking about the consequences of our actions. To be honest, I’m a cynical, jaded, sarcastic asshole with no real hope for our species. Especially now. Everyone is so content to point fingers and blame everyone else for their problems, expecting someone else to do the heavy lifting and change things, but nobody wants to admit their own hypocrisy and narcissism, and nobody wants to, as The Doctor said “Sit down and talk”. That’s just my view on our species, though.

Ah a fellow good to see at least few others have realized this. It’s all a matter of pride and laziness really nobody ever wants to admit they’re wrong. People would literally rather die than admit they’re wrong so they look for someone else to blame. Once that person takes the blame they have to be the ones take all the fault and do all the work of fixing it. If it only it were so easy. Humans

"Everyone is so content to point fingers and blame everyone else for their problems, expecting someone else to do the heavy lifting and change things." Your comment points the finger at those people. You are blaming them for the problems with the world. Maybe not your personal problems as may have been your intention in that sentence, but the behaviour is the same. And correct me if I'm wrong, but "cynical, jaded, sarcastic asshole"s tend not to be doing much heavy lifting in terms of bringing the change they want in the world. You describe yourself. You blame yourself. Are you motivated purely by self interest? If not, what makes you think everyone else is? There are countless people who are trying to do good. But you only pay attention to the ones who don't, and decide it's pointless to talk to them. Instead find the people who do. Talk to them.

@@alansmithee419 I never said I didn’t do any finger pointing. Our entire species does it. And that’s the problem. I have very few things I truly care about, anymore, after going 31 years with constant exposure to manipulated, twisted, egotistical, cruel, narcissistic shit by people who are always claiming that they’re some kind of saint for being in my life and putting me through shit constantly enough to where I have over 40 suicide attempts. And yet everyone wants to go “oh poor me, I’m a victim! Worship the ground I walk on!” Myself included. I’m just honest about my shittiness, is the only difference.

This speech is so powerful. Personally, I think any world leader wanting to start a war, should be forced to watch this speech first. One thing that does bother me though. When the Doctor boasts saying they haven't seen war like he has, he's wrong. The Zygons are on Earth because their home planet was destroyed in the crossfire of the very war the Doctor is boasting about

I don't understand how you got that the best way to avoid war is democracy. The best way to avoid war is to sit down and talk with your opponent, but that has nothing to do with democracy.

This is so ridiculous, just watch the show. People making you watch random moments with zero context is just completely pointless as you have no context or weight or emotional investment to anything happening in the scene. It means nothing without knowledge of the character, the story, countless episodes and character building. This is just ruining the Doctor who experience for you as it should be done properly. Not like this ,
