The Dock & Deck for the Festool Domino

I am the originator of The Dock...a cradle for either size of the Festool Domino Machine. In this video, I share some applications for using the Dock to facilitate in routing Domino mortises in smaller stock...quickly, efficiently and safely! All without having to clamp and unclamp your work over and over. The 90° Deck is a fantastic addition as well, providing a solid and stable platform when using either Festool Domino Machine to plunge cut into a panel or face of a board.

    Just buy one, it's that good! I just recieved my dock and it's a game changer. Makes the XL700 so much easier to handle. Truth be told I probably should have bought the 500 as most of my work is smaller. For what festool charges for the domino something like the dock should have be included, it's do much better than the Domino alone. Ramon, your shipping is lighting fast as well. I of course waited to order the dock until I really needed it and I recieved it the day after I ordered it! I'm in Oregon close to your distribution but still as amazing as the dock itself.

    Thanks a ton for the feedback! I think getting the larger XL 700 is a good move. I made an adapter for mine but Seneca sells them. With that you can use all size cutters. I do have access to a machine shop and used a grade 8 bolt when I made mine…even though I have the DF 500, I still use it. Cheers

    Received my df500 dock and the aluminum deck a couple weeks ago. Just in time to mortise 50- 2 inch pieces mitered on both ends. Made a quick jig to clamp to the deck and had it done in no time. Working with small parts is always a challenge and I could have built a jig to hold the pieces in place the on workbench but there is always the chance of bad registration or excess movement. When the only thing moving is the plunge mechanism chances are greatly reduced. Might order the larger dock for my Df700 just in case I ever need it. Thanks for coming up with this and making it available to the rest of us.

  • @pctatc66

    @pctatc66

    @@ramonartful yeah it cost more than twice as much as the combined jigs that you and Seneca are selling. It was based off of a Carmonius Finsnickeri jig (search High Precision Festool Domino Jig on KZread) and I understand he is receiving royalties from Lee Valley off of their sales. Woodpeckers has a similar jig and some feel they outright stole his idea but that is a different story. Anyway, the Veritas jig cuts dominos in small parts much like yours but in a totally different manner. Had I to do it over again, Id definitely save the money and go with yours and Senecas combined jigs.

    @@ramonartful Sorry but think you're wrong here... Look at the circle/oval shape that is parallel to the ground to the left of the cutter. It starts out blocked from view from the block, then as the clamp loosens you can see the block pivot up and the oval comes back into view, it then stays in view until the bottom of the plunge, at which point you take off the clamp and the block falls down blocking it from view again. Lighting couldn't do that. It's not a big deal for the overall video/product, but it's 100% lifting.
