The Division 2 |LORE PROBLEMS| How can the story improve?

Ойындар

Today we're looking at the story and lore of Tom Clancy's The Division 2. There's a lot to love, but also a lot that goes horribly awry, and it drives me bonkers. Let's see how it could get better. Let me know your ideas as well in the comments!
Here's the Gear Attribute Sheet which shows Talents, Bonuses, and a TON of info on the base game. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

    One inconsistency is how we end up with Keeners watch in Division 2 when our agents pick it up and find it in New York in Division 1 , while doing the Agent Traces mission, where our agent finds several other First Wave Division Agents watches.

    The Outcasts are also being slowly being put into the current story via the comics, with mentions of dirty bombs and radioactive materials in St. Louis being gathered by the Outcasts.

    Yeah, honestly, I don't understand how that is possible. The outcasts are a relatively small group of highly motivated people who went through a very specific traumatic experience. Every other person and faction outside of their group views them as absolute nut jobs. They wouldn't be able to recruit anybody and expand beyond DC, especially since they blow themselves up, they've lost their Base of Ops and their sole leader.

    Yeah, the idiocy of this story really gets to me. Rogue agents attacking me and yelling "I don't want to hurt you" and "I'm just trying to do the right thing" just makes it even worse. If you don't want to hurt me then why did you attack? It's the stupidity of the devices in combat that don't make sense also annoy me. Why do EMP jammers only affect me? They should knock out everyones electronics but Hyenas, Outcasts, True Son, etc all are unaffected. Someone may counter that they are using a different frequency but that makes no difference - it's an emp jammer not a frequency jammer and the US has frequency shifting technology so a freqency jammer should have little effect. Someone may counter that they are emp hardened. Black Tusk maybe but outcasts and hyenas? And if they are emp hardened then my emp devices wouldn't effect them either. And the giant ones that hurt you. Why does every group but me have the necessary devices you be in their effect without being hurt. Who is mass producing them and giving them to all the different groups but me the lone agent has no capability of produce a device for myself. There is just so much of this game (story and mechanics) that make no since so you just have to live with it to play the game.

    Yes, exactly! The number of times you hear "You're on the wrong side, Agent!" Drives me f***ing bonkers. I never thought about the emp - it seems to work against enemies in descent but not in summit etc. would be really nice if it debuffed the enemies or had a mechanic for skill players to circumvent it, cuz right now it's one of the most annoying gameplay mechanics in the game.

    @EasilyPeasily where do you see that our orders are to apprehend/kill? How are you supposed to apprehend someone without talking to them? Also, we've been listening to their comms the whole time, there should be a way to talk with them without exposing ourselves. Not to mention, as I already said in the video, the rogues already talk to us, so why couldn't we talk to them?

  • @d15p4tch6

    @d15p4tch6

    @EasilyPeasily that's part of my point - it's both the fact that we can't talk to them and also the fact that the NPCs are stupid (they don't give us any evidence, they don't surrender, they shoot first, etc.). The devs simultaneously want us to sympathize with them and also kill them without any discussion, over and over and over again. As to us being federal agents, treason, etc. that's not free license for murder. Now, since they shoot at us, that would of course be self defense, but that's completely separate from treason. There are a multitude of different reasons why they might ally with different factions. Heck, we take in a ton of true sons defectors, but we don't seem to care that they're traitors.

    This makes me sad that no-one wants to protect the VIP (Engineer) in Countdown.

    The part I hate the most is the fact you would need to buy the year one pack that was back in release to get access to the Special assignments where you actually meet the current manhunt characters but for a person who just jumped in are prob like who the hell is mari??? or why are these specific characters important enough to get back? should have bought the DLC that was released years ago... Worst yet one the manhunts you have to kill the daughter of the man in the shooting range you would never know this unless you took initiative to listen and read her lore. You would think maybe the dude would have been like "hey, agent I know and I understand" or some shit???? or hell at least mention it in some capacity.

    I didn't even think about that! The classified missions... Zoinks those have been left in the dust. Yeah - the guy in the shooting range is Douglas Harding. His daughter is Viper who may have been in a relationship with Faye IIRC... very disappointing that there wasn't a different outcome there

    Thanks! It's the Tactical Response helmet, Splinter Cell shirt and pants, Aces boots. Backpack appearance is bugged as the Lucky backpack. Chest is Body Armor System from providence defense, holster is the true patriot, mask is heartbreaker, knees should be china light and gloves should be hearbreaker. Everything with the Black-Black dye. My actual favorite chest is the Crew Adapted Chest Rig from Petrov - when you dye it black black it looks beefy.

    The goal of the BTSU is kinda complicated. Since Schaeffer got captured, Nat made the goal of the BTSU and its entirety to ‘reconstruct a new government’, because theoretically, Calvin might be the new POTUS. Ngl their old goal was much simpler, ‘to eradicate the Division and its supporting factions’. The goal of the True Sons is the simply complicated type of way. From what we learned after Season 10, it’s safe to assume that some of the True Sons are currently supporting the Division and its allies’ goals. While most of them want to be part of the new government with the Black Tusk under Anderson’s rule. The goal of the Division is where it really gets confusing. Since Johnson was a Hunter, trust within the SHD has been kinda bad. We got agents turning against agents. And now, with the Secretary of Homeland Security in the Black Tusk, the Division and its allies don’t know whether they’re the bad guys or not.

    Thing is, though, that if Cal tries to say we're the bad guys, AND he's the president, it makes no sense. If we are doing bad things, it's because he isn't leading us, like he's supposed to be. So if we're bad, it's his fault, and he has no ground making the argument.
