As a programmer, it's very clear to me they have no testers whatsoever. Someone touches the code and they ship it out the door without any validation tests. Some of these issues are so painfully obvious it should of never went out the door like that. The word incompetent comes to mind. My shade level is over 14,000 before anyone thinks I'm just dissing on it. It has issues and they should be called out on them. You don't need to explain yourself, you are critical when you need to be.

I think the hours we pour into this game is respect enough. Obviously we all love this game or we wouldn't care about the problems with it let alone play it so much despite it's many issues. Like you said, it's fine to be critical but I say, its because we have been plenty complementary as well.

Bro, congrats to you reaching level 14 000 and STILL playing the horse manure they keep feeding you season after season. I quit this game months ago after the consistent rubbish they keep giving the community. I ended off my accounts on SHD 4400 on PS4 and SHD 5300 on PC. I just can't in good conscience continue giving my time and energy to game where its bug after bug after bug on all platforms with no real roadmap to fixing shit that some was there from day 1. The chem launcher bug still annoys the fuck outta me. Quit the game and found some other fun games to play where the community are not reated like peasants. The complaints on here or social media never moved the needle with ubisoft or Massive and it never will. People will stil be back here on these platforms next year this time and I'll 100% see the same complaints. its actually ridiculous lol

Further thoughts. The idea that because it's a "live service game" means there will be issues is only true to a point. It's naive to think all bugs are automatically associated with it being a live service. That's simply not true. Prior to pushing it out the door... not one dev loaded up the game tried the inspect feature? No one went down to the clan vendor and glanced at the clan XP list on the wall and saw all zeros? Come on devs, you do this to yourself. It's sad actually. I find this stuff within a few minutes after an update and literally by accident most of the time. Just a little bit of quality control would go a long way. Just saying.

I don't know, but something that annoys me is that many of these defects we are having to put up with is due to developments that the player base hasn't asked for and doesn't want, and its made worse when we see how quickly they can mobilise when it's to nerfs something that is benefitting the players. Bad code base or not, what they seem to be lacking is code and version control,QA processes and build management which are nothing to do with bad code base.

This right here. I was about to agree with Rogue but I always remember this. Sure they say nice things like they care but actions always speak louder than words, I'm sorry that's always been a fact for me and it's not going to change now. They are able to, within the week (one time it was 1 day) fix the code for exploits that benefit us to reduce grinding. But god forbid they get the sound fx up and working again. Seasonal characters? Nobody asked, we asked for heartland, but they managed to scrape together the resources to put out one over the other. Actions speak louder than words.

  • @kamakrazi

My question is, how long are we supposed to continue to feel sorry for the team/publisher for shooting themselves in the foot? After how many times do we go, "You know, we told you that wouldn't be good, yet you did it anyway." Everything the player base is experiencing was/is induced by the dev team and the developer. Where does their accountability come in? When do we get a statement from Ubi that they are ACTUALLY invested in the franchise that is not just a hogwash press release that actually means nothing? When are actually going to give the resources needed to fix the things they promised they would? Fix it, or let it die.

I think a big part of the "silence" from the devs is caused by two main things. One sometimes it's best to just burry your head in the problem and not come up for air until the problem is fixed. And two, as much as it sucks to say, a SIGNIFICANT portion of the people complaining say some of the most disgusting and toxic comments possible to the devs. Some of the stuff I've seen people say would make anyone not wanna respond. Another thing is, like 95% of the people complaining have literally no idea how game development (Or coding in general) works and are like, "Oh HURR DURR, FIX GAME" Do people realize just how many line of code go into a game of this size? SEVERAL THOUSAND. You said it best, the devs could touch one line of code and it breaks something on the complete other side of the code string.

  • @RogueGold

  • @Shademastermcc

    @Shademastermcc

    3 күн бұрын

And I would agree with you, except they've demonstrated their competence at coding when it comes to fixing beneficial exploits for the players. That stuff gets corrected within the week, sometimes within 1 day. So I'm lost on this whole "the coding is super complicated" argument. Why can they suddenly figure it out when it's benefiting us?

100% agree with you! One of the things that pisses me the most ate the people blaming the Devs, because they are lazy, stupid, whatever. Ubishit f****d us, and (some of) the Devs fought to keep it alive, and even grow. I do think that the Devs made some mistakes like delaying the DLC for Project Resolve (that didn't really helped the game), and most important, the future season characters, that I think will be terrible for the game. At this point, I would just want the DLC to release, and then leave the game in alone and put EVERYONE working on TD3, and start everything from scratch, because I do believe that TD2 won't handle much more changes/aditions...

  • @jorsinorphaeus

First, I wanna say: though I may disagree with you at times, this is standard fare. You are a person and we will disagree. Keep making content how you need/want it to be designed. Second, I really thought losing the chambered round was just part of the game. Somewhere along the line I had some dissonance about it and that became standard. Bugs I understand and am patient for. I wish they had a bigger team so that these things could be rolled out and taken care of more easily for them than now. Third, how you expressed how it sucks to play the game with these bugs and you understand it lessening the experience for people…I can’t speak for anyone else; but thats how I feel about seasonal characters. Fourth and I know this is circling back…you as a streamer. I really value that you will at least talk AND disagree politely. I am sorry that there are turd muffins out there who make it bad for you. And honestly, you’re the only streamer I actively follow for Div2. When the seasonal stuff came out (before they made the follow-up announcement) I disagreed with another streamer about how much information Massive gave and what it told us. I was never impolite nor offensive. My comments were deleted moments after I made them. Sucked not being able to even disagree. Anyways, if you read all of this, I appreciate you and keep doin what you’re doin.

It was amazing to see the game's development revitalized. However, I believe some players like me feel frustrated by recurring bugs. For example, a bug apperar and will fix on patch 1, and in the next patch, appear again. This seems to be happening frequently, as seen with the broken running animation and crafting table glitch. It feels like a lot of time is spent fixing problems that should have been resolved, which suggests a challenge in the QA team's validation process. Additionally, the ammunition issue, especially with the Rock n Roll, has persisted since the Project Resolve patch and remains a significant annoyance. I'm hopeful that the game will regain its hype once again. The upcoming Brooklyn DLC might just be the chance they need to make that happen.

Mag size getting reset to base isn't just the rock and roll. It is literally everything that exceeds the base mag size, including stupid stuff like chambering an extra round or the +mag size tertiary stat on a weapon. It's just super noticeable on the Rock and Roll and it's a popular Strikers stacker otherwise.

Day 1 player, seen every bug that has been released since the Open/Closed beta. I love the game regardless of the bugs. Doesn't affect me 95% of the time. I still have fun. Never honestly blamed the devs or what's left. Communication is key. I sorta understand why they've been silent. Since the game doesn't have crossplay and multiple platforms, they want to make sure that it's not isolated incidents or a problem affecting everyone on every system. Kinda like the bug that affected PS users a while ago. It's not a perfect or ideal situation in most cases when dealing with bugs. The communication has killed me ever since the State of The Game is no longer around. The player base doesn't feel like they've been heard anymore since. I know they have the Trello board, which is handy, but not everyone utilizes it or knows about it. Bring State of the Game back since it served multiple purposes. Let's the community be heard and the devs to get out ahead of the bugs that plague the game in addition to the special reveals of what's in store for the game upcoming. Still not the end all be all to solve the issues, but it shows that the devs are investigating and we can hear it in their own words instead of social media about upcoming fixes and why it's happening. I don't agree with attacking the skeleton crew of devs for the state the game is in since there was a lot of resources that went in to get the game to release. Was the game rushed a bit? Yes but it's not like most games where there were serious overhauls to make the game playable after release.

I'm getting so bored of this game myself. At the beginning of the season, I told myself to savor the moment because this was probably going to be my last season since I'm really dreading the idea of Seasons 2.0. But now I'm starting to feel like maybe saying goodbye is going to be much easier than I had thought because dear lord is this game boring now. There's just nothing worth doing anymore, the new exotics are all worthless, and the game just keeps breaking more and more and their solution to all of this is making us start a new character over every few months? Bro, thank god for games like First Descendant because I am so ready to move on to greener pastures...

Love the channel, keep doing your thing! Between Project Resolve, the new season, and upcoming changes, the game has gone through many updates over the past few months. Understandably, because of this, many of the latest videos on the channel have been related to covering those updates. And I think this has led to a recent misconception on the type of content that's normally put out. Newer viewers may not realize that this isn't just a "state of the game" channel, but a channel about literally ANYTHING related to The Division, from PvP strategies, farming strategies, builds, storyline theories, lore, easter eggs, spinoffs, and even the movie that's probably never going to happen. But I think people's expectations of the channel has gotten skewed in the midst of everything going on with the game currently.

I'm a big fan of hot fixes as long as both sides get fixes, to hot fix (or try) the crafting bug without fixing the XP bug was Bull$#!t, maybe one was harder or easier to fix, I don't know but to let the XP bug go on for over two weeks (and it's still not entirely fixed) especially when a brand new season just started and fix the crafting bug within days is just wrong, big time wrong. We also have the Control point bug still going on for what three weeks now? I just started a new toon to get a feel on what Season 2.0 will be like ( more on that later) and do you know how annoying it is to clear a control point and not be able to fast travel to it afterward, especially when you have practically nothing unlocked yet? All I'm doing is running crisc-cross the map and not actually playing the damn game. Back to a new Season 2.0 toon. Now that we have Decent I liken starting a new toon even more to that, playing with unfamiliar gear and guns and switching them out numerous times per level is just annoying, I feel like all I'm doing is staying in my menu comparing stats, not only that I've played well over 4 hours and I'm only at level 5 because the story mode XP sucks beyond all believe, I have to clear 9 checkpoints to level up once, I realize the Devs said the XP would be different for seasonal Toons and the journey from 1-40 should be about 15 hours but doing this shows me that is time wasted and time that I'd rater invest in my main toon, in 15 hours I could level up 75-100 times. Think about it 1-40 is just thrown away, your main toon won't progress 40 levels, it only advances AFTER you get the watch and start adding levels to it. Not only that, any gear or guns that I get will be useless until I get to 40, after that there are well over 300 individual pieces to collect and don't get me started on the numerous variants. So we do all that for 3 1/2 months, have all this gear and such and then what? my stash has been full for 4 years, where do i put it? and then after all is said and done have to delete that toon and start all that all over again? Nah, once again, BULL$#!T, Seasonal Toon are a bad idea, if people want to do it it's their choice but don't force it on players. Lastly, something that has bugged me from the start, minor but still does is the wording on the control point officer when he goes down it says "Civilian Leader has died" why not say "Civilian Leader or Control Point officer is Down"?

I am so sad to hear about all the problems. I just love the game but I quit the same day they announced seasonal characters. I really do not want to start from scratch every time they release a new season to be able to play it. I might come back for a Division 3 but it all depends. Up until the seasonal character announcment I nejoyed the game, bugs and all, but I can't even bother to login anymore due to this upcoming change. That is how much I dislike it. I do hope the players staying on will have a great time though! And yes, I have been playing since the launch of the first game and have over 3000 hours clocked in TD2.

Rogue, I enjoy your content because you provide the reasoning behind your opinions. Most of the time I also agree with you, but on the fix release suggestion I somewhat disagree. I do not want a hot fix released every day for a month. What I would like to see, and this fits with your more communication thoughts, is for Massive/UBI to release their bug categorizations. Generally, software developers have minor, major, and critical (maybe different names and another category or two). Minor bugs are small annoyances like wrong text for a description. They do not impact game play in any way. Major bugs are bugs that may interfere with the quality of the game play or might be something that is broken but has a work around, the LMG sound issue would be an example, there is no work around, but the LMG function is not impacted. Most bugs will fall into this category. Critical bugs prevent the game from working and there are no work arounds. Whatever issue causes a Delta error would be an example. Minor bugs and major bugs should only be fixed on scheduled maintenance cycles. Critical bugs should be fixed as soon as possible. Right now, their release plans baffle me. The work bench mod bug as an emergency fix doesn't make sense. Again, if they communicated better, possibly adding bug category to their their entries Trello board, it would at least inform us as to how they are viewing the issues.

Hey R.G , you are right everyone sees things differently and most of us don't want to surround ourselves with negativity, but the community is lashing out on people who are being positive about the game at the moment. Yes, sure it is a unique game but being the same for the past few years is surely to become boring and not fun to any player with common sense, thus why the backlash. The community simply said we are happy to pay for Survival but coz they are greedy they wanted to do it a separate IP to make money in the meantime neglecting the Div 2 and the community who supported them. I just don't want to be treated as a sucker anymore and so do a lot. For me there is no more enjoyment in the game, even the NPCs got sick and tired of playing the same content and they are starting to bug out.

Eyes on the prize, for the future. However painful, we support this franchise with as little vitriol as possible. That we still have it at all is possibly the most important point that needs to be hammered home. I think that without the come back we saw, it would have been an easier financial choice to put D3 on the chopping block. Looking around the world of gaming, it looks like nothing is forever, and money is king. We got lucky folks. Supporting the franchise can be as simple as not filling social media with bitching and moaning. Someone has already complained, count on it. I don't feel sorry for the devs, I understand the situation they are in. They are the lifeline to D3, the field hospital that is keeping the patient alive. As pointed out here, annoying is NOT the end of the world. Sigh, and move on. It's free. THANK YOU RogueGold, as usual, stellar points, and I wish I could buy you a beer.

While i'm just a recently returning player after playing sometime before WoNY launch i remember how Div 2 FB post just regularly and constantly getting slammed people demanding fixes. I don't believe those people at first but now i'm starting to think that those may actually be true... What most mind boogling to me is if it's true, then they should have start rooting out what the cause is. Is it lack of Manpower or is it actually snow drop engine that being super wacky? i personally think it's snow drop engine being wacky that is the source of all their issues

The Dev’s don’t listen to the player base. The last few exotics are completely useless, when they do come up with a good exotic the nerf follows, after the players spend time and components to expertise the gear or weapons.

Hi RogueGold, I hope you are well. I think we are witnessing a snowball effect. The problems that appeared in the game, instead of being reduced by the new patches, created more and more problems. On top of this, the announcement of season 2.0, with the seasonal characters, disappointed the players even more, especially you veterans, but not only. Do you know what I was wondering?? Instead of the stupidity with the seasonal character why don't they come with a new DLC to the existing game that has so many fans??? Not to be released every year. At least once every 18 months or every two years, if annually is not possible. Surely we will all buy that DLC. And this will not only keep your current players but also bring you many other new players. If new games or new DLC's are released for Assassins Creed or Star Wars, why can't the same be done for Division 2??? And between these DLC's you can bring new skins, or new challenges in the existing game to capture the attention and make the players continue to play this game, which is truly unique in its own way. And what better advertisement can there be than what you, the veterans of this game, are doing, namely promoting the game on social platforms.

That's why I was saying that it would have been better for everyone to leave the game as it is and bring something new to maintain the interest of the players and which will more than likely bring new players also For example, a new DLC once every two years . in 5 years they created Lords of New York. That and nothing else. OK. But when they finally come up with a new one why do they have to ruin everything with the seasonal character???

If you feel differently that’s fine. I also think this particular dev team isn’t very good. I think that’s reflected in game updates constantly breaking the game, their lack lustre communication with the player base, the story content ranging from meh, to straight up lazy. Criticism of something you like can be difficult to hear but it’s warranted.

Thank you for finally saying something on this matter. All i want to say is I genuinely love this game but all i feel since that reveal of new seasonal characters is frustration. The negative feeling towards this game has increased so much that I pretty much started playing xDefiant in my free time and just grind there. What's worse is we got two opposite ends of the spectrum with these two games. On one hand Mark Rubin from xDefiant literally listens to individual concerns of people and tries to solve them in one week!!! Whereas in case of Division 2, they do not even give us a nod like hey listen, we have heard your concerns and working on it. Please bear with us for the time being. That is all it takes. Complete silence never solves anything. Part of the reason why people are frustrated with the game like me is because deep down they want to love the game. They want to keep Division in their mind as the game that we fell in love with many years back and stuck with it in its worst times. I understand the devs are also equally passionate but the problem is we never feel that passion. Yes i am sure that they have sacrificed a lot and they probably gave up on many luxuries in their life to stick with this game. I get that and i respect them for it. But constantly using that excuse will never be good enough. They have to communicate that passion to us. I am not saying to make the game perfect. At this point its not possible. All they need to do is talk to us. Radio silence and ignorance will only get you so far.

I’ve said something similar in Kamakazevondoom’s comments but I really do think that this is the high water mark for this development team. Like it sucks and I know it’s not necessarily what the player base wants to hear but I think the evidence is clear. Back when they decided not to abandon the game all together I was grateful for the small team they assigned to this game and was glad they were gonna attempt to keep it going. I decided to give them a while to find their footing. Unfortunately, it just seems like they’re not all that good at their jobs. This is a training program for junior developers. I was gonna stick around until they implemented the seasonal characters, but honestly I think this is a good time to go.

Servers are tough to keep up to date. As a programmer I get why there are problems and my belief now is this is the reason they are switching the seasonal model since it’s a separate server. I bet Massive would love to say more but Ubisoft just does not allow studios to communicate on their own. Ubisoft is what’s going to kill TD franchise more than Massive. Heck if it wasn’t for Massive’s persistence, TD2 would’ve been sunset a few years ago. We can vote with our wallets but then it’s a double-edge sword.

Destiny 2 and Warframe have the luxury of having development teams of notably larger sizes, and comprised of people who have been there since that code was written, who understand its complexity and inherent nature. That's not to try and make excuses- but it can't be ignored how influential those two factors are.
