A tradition of illustration has surrounded The Divine Comedy from the earliest manuscripts, and Neil Packer was the perfect choice to carry this tradition forward. He has created illustrations for all 100 cantos, drawing out details from the text, along with frontispiece schemes of the three regions - Hell, Purgatory and Heaven - along with exquisite hand-drawn lettering, striking binding designs and the decorative papers lining the elaborate presentation box. Each volume also has an original and exclusive print for framing.
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri has contributed a specially commissioned introductory essay ‘Thirty-three thoughts on Dante’. George Holmes’s superb essays and introductions for each book offer insights and explanations apt for both scholars and the general reader. And for the text itself, Robin Kirkpatrick’s acclaimed translation was chosen, written in three-line rhyming stanzas to follow Dante’s terza rima scheme.

Been making episodes about the Divine Comedy for nearly 4 years now. Looking forward to the anniversary on the 14th (will be doing a big stream). Unfortunately don't have the $700 to fork out for one of these sets, but thank you for promoting Dante's greatest work!
In my opinion, one of their best limited editions. Looks amazing!

Gorgeous edition, but by the looks of it this does not include the original Italian? Penguin published Kirkpatrick's English translation with the Italian text running parallel to it. Including that would have made it a must-buy for me.

Will there ever be a reprint of this limited run? Or, as the name suggests, is it strictly limited?
These look absolutely gorgeous, but only 700 copies? Those are gonna run out in less than a second

I think you’re missing the point somewhat - you honestly think that maybe adding a few hundred more will help? The entire point of The Folio Society is limited edition, bespoke editions. 🙄
