    I think a cool Erebor script would be a choice which one of the regional allies to aid, Dale or the Woodland realm against Gundabad or Rhun. Erebor would play the role of the leader for the war in the North East. The event would fire a few turns into the campaign where emissaries from both Dale/Woodland realm talk how their forces are spread too thin and need help against Rhun or Gundabad while they focus on Dol Guldur. So you choose which of the two to aid in the event.The choice instantly gives you some lower tier units in Erebor and the Iron hills. If you manage to take the capital of the chosen targets, the garrisons of your allied faction end up flocking to your banner and you get the higher tier units. Maybe you can get an army spawn or at least a general of the faction you ended up helping? You could make the script talk about how Gimli befriends Legolas or Dain befriends Prince Brand and get them to join you. You could even then script an army of the undefeated faction to attack Erebor and Dale/Thranduil's halls. From there you can use the new units to defeat your other enemies and win the campaign. Dale would provide Woodsmen and Dalian Cavalry (current units you get) initially and Horseguards/Earls after you take Mistrand (cavalry focus). Woodland realm would provide Woodlands Scouts and Woodland Horse Archers initially and Woodlands Sentinels/Hir-e-Beng after taking Gundabad. The issue with Erebor is that you are a solely infantry faction which makes fighting any sorts of ranged enemies an absolute agonizing experience. We have all chased Balcoth with our dwarven infantry, it's not fun. They lost their missiles to be ''agressive'' and have axethrowers, but axethrowers are just not versatile enough and no matter how much stats you have it does not matter if you can't catch the enemy. You just need some sort of ranged units or cavalry to have fun. Catapults are quite good, but they are very slow on the campaign map which makes them situational and not a replacement of ranged units. Goat riders/chariots would be fun, but i don't think its gonna happen in DAC. Galu hates it and for all the good he has done for the mod, he has the bad character trait of being extremely stubborn in his opinions. It is super lore inaccurate, but we literally have 99% fanfiction factions that are fan favorite like Dorwinion. Galu likes only his own fanfiction I guess. But yeah getting elven/dalian units and a script around it would fix this issue without pissing off the ''never goats'' crowd.

    I couldn’t disagree more regarding Erebor. I unwittingly disrupted Kazan Dum by taking the two regions south of the Iron hills and selling them to Kazad, this caused them to channel troops to that region, which in turn resulted in them losing Kazad Dum west early to Moria. So that once I reached Goblin town I was able to continue on and take both Kazad west and east. Expanding out to take Litash, Mount Gram and Carn Dum. This provides every settlement that produces Son’s of the fallen, so having them in multitudes. I now have no need for the Kings units at all. The roster is as follows: Son’s of the fallen, Dragon slayers, Hammers of Gundabad, Guardians of Kazad Dum and Blacklock engineers, with Iron guards and Iron fists as fillers. Even Kings halberds are nigh on obsolete. Add their awesome catapults to the mix and your indestructible.

    I’m playing DAC for the first time and my first play through is with Rohan and I feel like Rohan is in a reasonable spot on this list. I beat Isengard around turn 15 and it was a mixed bag on difficulty for me. I’m still going through my campaign around turn 130 or so and tryna fight Mordor with the infantry is a bloodbath but man the cav is fun.

    A tip for Wodland realm is to rush Gundabad and then Goblin town, ignore your southern border intill you get the west and you will have the money to sustain your army and kill Dol Guldur. And afcore kepp in mind that Angmar will atack you at some point but you have 6 forts in the west that you can use for free upkeep units. And for Rohan the Rohirim are one of the molst hiden op units in the game, they are not that expensive, replenish fast, available in the early game and some how hit realy hard even vs hevily armoured units.

    Hi. The Unite the Clan scripts and roster is well made, but I agree with you. It's fundamentally a copy pasta. I feel factions are either enriched by the lore or restrained by it. Some, like Dorwinion, are free from it. For example Gondor and Isengard are enriched by the lore. Most evil factions are restrained by it. For Enedwaith and Dunland. On one hand, the flavour they possess is restrained by limited lore. They're restful fishermen (tricked by the Sauroman). Period. On the other hand, I'm disappointed that the developers didn't tie in more from the limited lore in creative ways: • The North South Road was not what it used to be, but it was still a continental bottleneck for familiar faces who journeyed to or from Eriador. Gandalf, Radaghast, the Ringwraiths, various hobbit tradesmen to Isengard, brigands and spies from The Enemy, Boromir and so forth made their way through the fords of Isen. Probably various merchant or military convoys from civilisation passed through this region. • Perhaps your involvement with the North South Road or Isengard, eventually lead the Fellowship of the Ring on an alternate route south from Rivendell, passing through your realm. Anything could happen now. Perhaps Enedwaith/Dunland could play a similar role to Rohan in the movies, but from an original and novel perspective. Javelins, access to boats, dealing with man-orc breeding within your ranks, throwing off the joke of Isengard's tyranny in your realm, etc. Nasty stuff, but original. Thank you.

    Please don't add Goat riders to any dwarven faction, other people have introduced an idea for scripts to recruit archers/cav or have a similar relationship/diplomacy deal with allies around you to recruit units from them like Isengard and the Dunlendings. Dwarves are my favorite race of Middle Earth and favorite factions to play (Khazad-Dum and Erebor are my go to's). PS: Edit, im not super opposed to dwarven chariots but i still dont necessarily like it lol

    Rush Osgiliath East at the start than go straight to Minas Morgul. After you capture it all you need is to take over The Black Gate(Moranon) and than you basically bottleneck them there rather than at your heartland.

    Goat riders can be added to the roster after you come into contact or make an alliance with Rohan. Once you make an alliance, a unique building should be unlocked. It’s also lore friendly because gimli said he’d bring a colony of dwarves to the glittering caves.

    I'd be all in for goat riders! It isn't contradicted by the lore, and is supported by the movies. Plus they are fun. If purists demand lore-accuracy, then I think they should go re-read every letter tolkien wrote (as I'm sure they already have, right?) and contemplate all his retcons and how middle-earth is totally real and static and not fluid at all (/s).

    There really needs to be more to distinguish Erebor from Khazad-dum. Offensive heavy infantry vs. defensive heavy infantry is a fairly meaningless distinction, and Khazad-dum is infinitely the more interesting campaign. Giving Erebor goat-riders would give them an identity while reinforcing that they're meant to be rushdown dwarf faction - powerful in melee but they have to come to you.

    I really don't understand good players, I guess if lotr universe has been your first fantasy universe you get to dislike orcs. But going first into wow and playing horde before delving into lotr, I prefer orcs. I don't think there is any challenge in most good campaigns, especially elves and they have like 3 units each and they are better then anything around, its just not fun for me. On the other hand Mordor, by far the most underrated faction (mainly because people don't play it) you have uruks,orcs, trolls,olog hai,great beasts, nazgul, dark numenorians, you can recruit khand, rhun and harad units from the black gate. Tons of different units, and this guy says they have no flavour lol, yeah the 3 elven units you get have more flavour.

    I do understand good players. Playing as good players in TATW is basically like playing as non-Catholic factions in vanilla Medieval 2 Total War. In former, you will be free to do as you wish instead of Sauron breathing down your neck. In latter, you will be free to do as you wish instead of Pope being an annoying, meddlesome busybody all the time.

    I agree, although I do like playing good factions as well, especially Northern Dunedain for their script. My favourite faction is Dol Guldur due to their starting location and them being surrounded by enemies and I find them much more fun than elves. I can see how elves could be fun, if you wish to switch your brain off and just play to destroy everything in your way, but I personally don't find it fun.

    Great in open field, terrible in sieges. It really depends on whether you choose to cheese the AI to avoid sieges or not. There are multiple ways to do this, and they're all quite exploitative. If that's your jam than great, if not than you will inevitably have to fight sieges, quite a lot of them the further the game goes(assuming you're doing well that is) and that's where Rohan grinds down to a halt due to their garbage tier infantry(even during late game).

  • @Owlr4ider

    @Owlr4ider

    @@stefanblazic4316 Fair enough, but sieging every settlement out takes a very long time and you're paying upkeep during all those turns you're standing around sieging down every province. Of course the ideal targets are armies right next to settlements, and when that happens it's absolutely amazing(not just for Rohan btw but for everyone really), however these situations don't happen all that often. I commend you for playing Rohan 'the right way' going all in on their superb cavalry and not abusing the AI to cheese out sieges. My only gripe is that when using this play style Rohan simply isn't as powerful as other factions with more balanced(and powerful) unit rosters who can also win sieges just as easily as land battles so they don't have to waste so much time like you do in a proper Rohan playthrough. So the overall faction rating for this playstyle simply can't be as high as the top contenders. Still very fun mind you and you can absolutely save time and money by significantly minimizing the need to retrain/rebuild your forces but it's not enough to mitigate, let alone surpass, the issue with sieges for a cavalry only army like Rohan's.
