We can continue to print money and have it actually backed by worth, because other countries NEED U.S. dollars to be able to buy oil. This was all because of early deals between the US and Saudi Arabia, which extended to other oil selling countries as Saudi Arabia was the general ringleader of such things. It is an objectively an extremely beneficial relationship.

WWE doesn't care about fan opinion. Remember the whole Fabulous Moolah Battle Royale fiasco? The fans complained about how they're pushing a detestable human being as a pillar of women's wrestling but they never listened. The fans had to complain to the sponsors before they actually listened. So I don't believe WWE actually listens to its fans nowadays.

The same Bret Hart that whined and pissed and complained about every little thing. The same guy who wanted to be WWF Champion while not under contract because of the lamest excuse "I don't wanna lose in Canada" and the most unprofessional excuse "Shawn wouldn't lose to me, so I'm not losing for Shawn" excuses ever. It's absurd for anyone to say that politics should be kept out of their Saudi shows when Saudi Arabia's deal with them is entirely political, as you say. Most obviously is the fact that they run the propaganda packages that you mention, but it goes all the way to the reason KSA wants WWE there in the first place - to build Western bridges and improve perceptions. WWE's a brand, they're a brand, one washes the other. So then Saudi Arabia's PR is extremely important because that's what WWE's being paid to boost at the cost of their own image-WWE is selling reputation points to KSA and they could leave themselves bankrupt. While they're clearly more concerned about the other sort of bankruptcy, they've put tons and tons of time and effort 'brand building' (aka philanthropy) and if that's what got them where they are today then is worth it to cash it in on this Saudi deal? It's dwarfed by the Fox TV deal remember so it's not like it's even their biggest moneymaker. Anyway, that's me trying to be objective and pragmatic. As a human, I'll say it like Dusty said: _"It's gonna be shameful"_ .

This is a really bad situation and the wwe in good faith need to pull out of this deal. To go ahead and continue is as good as condoning every Saudi Arabia does. Yes the wwe would be in breach of contract with the Saudi government and most likely will lose a lot of money due to breaching this but in the bigger picture there global perception will be a lot better. Saudi Arabia isn't the only country with huge stadiums and can produce these level events Australia recently proved this. Second, this is truly a no win situation for WWE: you mentioned the $49 million, but pulling out goes deeper than that: if they really are that important to vision 2030, I can only imagine the Saudi regime taking great issue with that, to the point of losing that money and a lawsuit for failing to uphold their contract being the least if WWEs problems (or, have we already forgotten what they did to that writer this event is about?...). The bigger the stage gets, the bigger the public black eye the WWE gives Saudi Arabia and vision 2030, and I could easily see this becoming a safety issue if they DO pull out.

It's murky at best and frankly there is no way this ends well for WWE. It won't drive them bankrupt, at least not immideately, but continnued association with Saudi Arabia will drive investors, talent, audiences and so forth away, while backing out of it will cost a fortune and then some.

The only reason why this story got so blown up is because it got into the media, but fact of the matter is that incidents like these are pretty standard issues for Saudi Arabia. It wouldn't be the first time that critics suddenly disappeared. And quite frankly: all those countries which are now so upset are in my opinion basically hypocrites.

I don’t mean to get all personal and put my two cents in... but after I served two tours overseas, it really fucked my head up... I remember seeing so much (in my opinion) disgusting things that happened to people WHO LIVED THERE! it’s definitely an uncomfortable feeling that the WWE would rather make money than realize what goes on behind the scenes. Granted, not all of the middle eastern people are bad, in fact 75% of the people I encountered where honest people just wanting peace. Yet, it shows that Vince McMahon would rather make money than think about the other 25% who fund terrorism. So now, it’s acceptable to do this? Vince has turned this company into a money hungry scene since he acquired WCW. Sorry for the spam ladies and gentlemen, it just boggles my mind.

WWE still has that carny culture in its DNA. It still takes money over all and desperately seeks mainstream validation and to be seen as bigtime and will shill anyone or anything for the right price. No real principles. Over the years any cause they get behind has a very cynical reasoning behind it. Lots of companies act similarly, but the wrestling business in particular still hangs onto outdated thinking. It still strings employees along as "contractors" ect. As much as I like wrestling, WWE are the last company I expect to do things on an ethical basis, unless it also coincides with hitting their bottom line to a significant degree. As long as that Saudi money is flowing, it will take a massive backlash to make them flinch away from that paycheck. If the outrage is just words and not actions, they won't care. The fact that so many companies backed out decisively and WWE are at best, still deliberating what to do and at worst, don't care, just goes to prove it.

" It still takes money over all and desperately seeks mainstream validation and to be seen as bigtime and will shill anyone or anything for the right price." This. So much this. They try to ride on the success of anything mainstream, remember when the new Star Wars came out? Or when the Olympics and the World Cup were going on? We're just waiting for the next big thing to be a hit and WWE will surely try to ride on said success

For me it comes down to this: Pull out of the deal, cancel the show, and take a short-term hit which they could make up with deals with other friendly countries. Or stay the course and risk long-term damage to the brand and maybe loss of much more money from other countries that wont want to associate with them. They've done shows in Canada, England, Australia and who knows where else. Are they really going to risk all those other deals to stay with one show in one country? Seems dumb to me.

For tax and insurance purposes they aren't classified as employees but they are treated like employees even when they leave they can't compete in another wrestling company for 90 days, a real independent contractor works when they want and where they want and obviously that's not what wwe does.

Follow the rules and respect your host country common sense. Get vocal against the country you get screwed. In some middle eastern countries you have freedom to do everything you whant and say what you whant, such as in the emirates, but talk bad about the government and you can be jailed or even executed. Im not 100 percent on the laws of Saudi arabia but I imagine they are similar if not more strict.

Some people might say that it's just business. But that would mean that money and the shareholder value is more important than moralic standards and human decency...! I could never say that it's just business and at the same time saying that i'm a decent man with moralic standards and a supporter of human rights and democracy...! I can't have it both!!! That would be the ultimate hypocricy...! It's just too much in this case. A murdered journalist, a war in Yemen, human rights violations for decades, etc.!
