I would recommend all of the animated films you haven't seen on the list! The only one I would personally call disturbing on any level is Plague Dogs, which was written by the same person as Watership Down but has a MUCH bleaker outlook on life (at least in the movie. The book has a much happier ending.) It's themes of animal testing/cruelty is probably where most of the disturbing comes from.... or the scene with the hunter, which I get. CWs: animal cruelty/death, drowning, gun violence Felidae has similar themes, plus dark religious undertones and kitty cat eugenics. Most probably call it disturbing due to that one nightmare scene. It's a German animated film based off of a series of books about the central character, Francis, solving mysteries~ There's also a cat sex scene which tends to make everyone uncomfortable. CWs: animal cruelty/death/testing, gore on the level of Warrior Cats (think evisceration) When the Wind Blows is about an elderly couple in England who survive a nuclear attack. It is also incredibly bleak and a scathing takedown of the British government's shit information on nuclear war etc. Also it starts with a song by David Bowie! It's mostly just depressing and incredibly sad to me. The art direction is fantastic and the cast is incredibly small, literally just the couple. I've honestly only seen it once so I don't think I can give accurate CWs for it. Honestly the only reason people find Watership Down disturbing is watching cute little bunnies rip each other to shreds lmao; it's one of my favorites tbh. Many people saw it as kids, as you said, hence the childhood trauma. Many also find the Sandleford warren's destruction upsetting, which it is. CWs: animal death/violence, guns, mild gore. With those animated films on there, I'm a little surprised Akira didn't show up. Body horror immaculately animated with a huge budget and clear passion from the team. Another one I strongly recommend. A lesser known absolutely traumatizing animated film is Padak, which is about a fish in a sushi restaurant's tank. Fishy cannibalism and animal cruelty abound. Spoiler warning, there is no happy ending.

American Guinea Pig is so boring, tbh. Not just because I don't like torture porn, the torture is just...lame. Like it's not creative or engaging. At least that's how the first one was. It was legit just "hey let's watch this guy chop up two completely silent women" and nothing else happened.

I dunno if I'd call Hereditary disturbing as much as I'd call it, shit-your-pants scary. Also, I'll admit that the performance in Megan is Missing is ten times of awful but there is just something so inherently unsettling about the concept in itself. @@kayleighbrown459 S’alright. It was years ago, now. But yeah, that probably wasn’t a good time to think about young people dying suddenly, the ways that your family will inevitably hurt you, and how it’s possible to act incredibly selfishly while grieving. I'd disagree on the American guinea pig v the original one. I've seen both and I find the American worse in some ways in-terms of disturbing, but prefer the aesthetic and quite realistic look it goes for, to the point it still gets confused for genuine snuff.
@bernebelmont1857
Жыл бұрын
the American one has a great aesthetic but for me the acting and writing (and length) really take it down for me, the original is kind of equal in my eyes only because its not very good the second movie is absolute kino and neither come close
@Mattteus Жыл бұрын
Gozu is one of my favourites. The scene where he kills the dog is so fucked up but so funny at the same time. Also the scene with the “American wife” is great meta humour. Of course, it’s a film that most people only remember for the last ten minutes.

Ive seen An American Crime, it is the second attempt to bring Sylvia Lychens life, torture and murder to the screen. It is easily watchable in the first half, harder to watch in the second half, but do-able. What is disturbing about it is how it will haunt you later. You will be half awake trying to fall sleep and the thought of her last weeks and the torture she endured will creep into your thoughts. It is one of the few movies I refuse to watch a second time, and I enjoy the sick-film genre.

Millennial here and I had not seen Donnie Darko until my mother bought one of those 3 pack movies from Walmart that has 3 movies by a specific actor and the pack was Jake Gyllenhaal and my cousin saw it and he blurted out the line, "please, tell me Elizabeth, how does one suck a fuck?" And we both got in trouble cause he said fuck. He's gen z BTW, and loves that movie. ✌
So Keanu’s performance in Knock Knock is why I’m excited to see him as HH Holmes.

I remember years ago finding that movie after seeing some youtuber talk about it and almost watching it.. I thought “oh this animation is dreadful it can’t be that scary” but something kept me from going through with it. Like my gut feeling just telling me not to, in addition to how awful the youtuber made it sound... These comments make me glad I didn’t 😭
Choked at "had a breeder kink the whole time" lmfaooo
every time i hear harmony korines name i just think abt how he wrote one of my favorite bjork songs on her best album and it makes me feel kinda weird
I just found your channel yesterday and I've been binging ever since and dude I absolutely love your whole vibe! Funny, interesting, intellectual and serious all at the same time 😁 Much love from Norway!
I have so much fun with your content. I don’t have the stomach for a good majority of these movies, but I love hearing about the gross bits. You should watch crimes of the future for me lol
plz tell me uve watched felidae? showed a friend and apparently its part of a whole book series. cat does a detective work on a crazy cat cult jonestown style

I'd just love a list of this. Just a nice ledjedgible list that I may read. Edit: gen-z'er here, just confirming that I've seen Donnie Darko. All I can say about it is I live next to an air force base and whenever a plane flies too close to my house all around me are familiar faces.

No pressure of course, but it would be so amazing if you did a video one day on Felidae, The Plague Dogs, Watership Down, and/or When the Wind Blows if you get a chance to watch them...🙏 I find the content in those films even more upsetting because of the medium (but there's a lot of beauty in them too).

Also, I unironically love Eli Roth. Cabin Fever, Hostel 1-2, and Knock Knock are all great, and Death Wish is pretty decent.
American Guinea Pig is so boring, tbh. Not just because I don't like torture porn, the torture is just...lame. Like it's not creative or engaging. At least that's how the first one was. It was legit just "hey let's watch this guy chop up two completely silent women" and nothing else happened.
your editing style is so funny
I actually used 'felidae' as a nickname in some videogames so i had a real 'oh shit, someone is calling me by my name' moment
I dunno if I'd call Hereditary disturbing as much as I'd call it, shit-your-pants scary. Also, I'll admit that the performance in Megan is Missing is ten times of awful but there is just something so inherently unsettling about the concept in itself. Like...that's one of the few movies that genuinely fucked me up for like a good long while

@@kayleighbrown459 S’alright. It was years ago, now. But yeah, that probably wasn’t a good time to think about young people dying suddenly, the ways that your family will inevitably hurt you, and how it’s possible to act incredibly selfishly while grieving. Every year I come back to it and have a good think about it. Usually on the anniversary of the incident. Thinking about how I’m now older than Andrew ever was.

I'd disagree on the American guinea pig v the original one. I've seen both and I find the American worse in some ways in-terms of disturbing, but prefer the aesthetic and quite realistic look it goes for, to the point it still gets confused for genuine snuff.
@bernebelmont1857

the American one has a great aesthetic but for me the acting and writing (and length) really take it down for me, the original is kind of equal in my eyes only because its not very good the second movie is absolute kino and neither come close
Gozu is one of my favourites. The scene where he kills the dog is so fucked up but so funny at the same time. Also the scene with the “American wife” is great meta humour. Of course, it’s a film that most people only remember for the last ten minutes.
Me, with a Clockwork Orange poster: 👁️👄👁️
Ive seen An American Crime, it is the second attempt to bring Sylvia Lychens life, torture and murder to the screen. It is easily watchable in the first half, harder to watch in the second half, but do-able. What is disturbing about it is how it will haunt you later. You will be half awake trying to fall sleep and the thought of her last weeks and the torture she endured will creep into your thoughts. It is one of the few movies I refuse to watch a second time, and I enjoy the sick-film genre.
Got this notification just as I was looking for something to watch ❤️
As a Begotten fan, I feel really offended about his place on the tier. But you've put Mordum and Penance in the top, so we're in peace (?)

"if there's anything involving breeder kink that'd be one thing" *immediately after* "no idea what Felidae is about" WELL, as it so happens- (well not really but it kinda comes up in one scene if you count the cat in heat)
I want to do this! Is there any site to do it?
1:05:30 You should absolutely watch When The Wind Blows. It's another movie about a post nuclear Britian from the perspective of this old married couple. The main thesis is that there is no coming back from nuclear war, but there's a lot of criticism of the british government, and the attitudes of those who grew up durring the London Blitz. It'll make you feel like shit, but it's definitely a good watch
Did I miss the house that Jack built? That movie was woah.

AG Mordum is definitely messed up... it's also the most cohesive of the series. It freaked me out, but I'd watch one more time
