I think Sally didn’t appear in most of the Cars games because EA owned the exclusivity rights to Porsche from 2000 - 2016. So I think they were able to pay for temporary rights for the first game, and by the time the Cars 3 game was released, the exclusivity rights were expired.

Since Porsche was in contract with EA, a lot of games had to turn to RUF until the contract expired. Now, imagine Sally as a RUF.

I love how the Cars series is getting a ton of attention these days. Cars was my favorite movie as a kid and I still got a soft spot for it today.

Pixar: *"Doc can't die on screen cuz that's sad."* Also Pixar: **rips out the hearts of audiences with the opening 8 minutes of Up and Bing Bong dying** They actually didn't release it more to the fact of Newman's death, and Owen's suicide attempt. (Shout out to Owens brother Luke for saving him in time so we could have more Cars! Owen made my life, Cars made my life. Cars is my life)

I’ve heard the theory regarding Owen’s suicide, i didn’t mention it here because I wasn’t sure if there was any evidence for it, it’s just a theory

The most likely reason Sally never showed up in the earlier Cars games is because she's based off a Porsche EA and Porsche had an exclusive deal where EA were the only game devs allowed to use Porsche for awhile which let game devs to use companies like RUF to fill the gap in the Porsche line-up

He actually joined the original version of Top Gear in the late 80s, when that ended in 2001 he was the only one to stay with the BBC and didn’t go over with the other hosts to create Fifth Gear(which was what Top Gear once was basically) and remained for the more comedic/informative mix in 2002

The one I was expecting to see and is missing is the factory painting in Cars 1, seen during McQueen's judgement behind Doc. Another one could be some interviews when the topic of humans being in the Cars universe is spoken about by Cars creation team members. And another one could be the existence of taxis and school buses in that universe. As a complementation of the VINs information, there is also a robotic pitty playable in Race-o-Rama. And there is an artwork that shows that VINs were originally going to look like Chick, making it even darker. Otherwise, it's extremely full of interesting information. Amazing job!

That celebrity party would've been amazing to see, and there's a lot of really obscure cars in there: John Milner's '32 Ford and Bob Falfa's '55 Chevy from American Graffiti, Ed Roth's Surfite and what looks to be the Orbitron, The Uncertain-T and the Red Baron, among others.

1:08:11 I ACTUALLY WENT THERE WHEN THE EVENT HAPPENED. I remember Lightning Mcqueen appearing, Mater appearing on the TV, and at one point a stunt car driving through a wall of glass blocks that could be put back together, the river catching fire and ashes appearing on the ground after (I remember touching it and investigating it after the show). Good meomories.

fun fact: Red ransburg mcqueen was actually playable in the DS version of cars race o rama as an unlockable skin along with his cars 1 paint job, dinoco paintjob, and a paintjob from the mini adventures subline.

Omg the fast as lightning thing gave me so much nostalgia I played that game 24:7

We do see them dead for a short time The first death was the cube we see in that box The second death we see the parts fly off We see the explosion on the oil rig The two lemons that get crushed are shown We see redline blow up in the reflection of a tv The only one we don’t see die is that ship that gets blown up.

My guess is in part is it’s rather uncreative and unoriginal. Cars 2 already had dozens of other spy cliches and the Eastern European villains still appeared in the form of Trunkovs.

I don’t know why but I love the design of Wally (or Wallie, not sure how his name is spelt) the Walmart truck. Something about his simple design makes him stand out more and hope that maybe they might make a figure for him. (I doubt it though if they haven’t make one for him)

Wally (it’s spelt with a y) has had a diecast since, I want to say 2009? He’s released yearly, as the haulers are Walmart exclusives now

Man you did a great job with this iceberg almost all my questions and small troughts are here, also fun fact: the wiki says that sally was cut because of porsche liscence problens, this is a comom thing for cartoonish racing games like a example: in hot whells highway 35 some races got their cars changed in the game version because of chevrolet license.

I'm a bit late since this just came in my recommended, but absolutely FANTASTIC job on this masterpiece! I've been waiting for someone to make an iceberg on my favorite Pixar franchise for over 15 years, and this video was a perfect way to give the franchise the recognition it deserves. Thanks for pointing out a lot of overlooked aspects which even I haven't noticed at first. Looking back at the video, I theorize that the color change for Ryan Lanely was *deliberately* changed by Pixar, since Ryan Blaney likely saw an early version of the movie, and didn't want his character to be portrayed in a negative sense (such as being involved in the Big One) and Pixar likely just changed the core instead of choosing a different car to crash. This might be a similar reason as to why Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasn't seen in the Big One in the first Cars movie. I also wonder how the Ferrari License would have played out with Disney had they kept a Ferrari as one of the WGP racers.

Thanks so much! That's actually a very interesting theory...(and Jeff and Lewis weren't part of the big crash in cars 2 either) maybe they changed it late in the game...but in order for that to hold any weight, you'd probably have to see if chase or bubba were a part of the crash

Personally I think that the cars 1 videogame are backup racers, and the cars 1 racers needed a rest after the big one in the Dinoco 400

I think the living roomba thing can be explained by using examples from Planes, Planes 2: Fire & Rescue, Cars and Cars 2. In Cars 2 it is shown that birds are little planes and in both Planes and Planes 2: Fire & Rescue it is shown that the bird equivalents are shown to be planes without self propulsion, like gliders and the Red-propped balsa thrush. Plus in a Cars 2 commercial, there are tiny locomotives with trains of trucks shown to be like snakes. And with tractors shown to be both like cattle and deer and dump trucks, combine and bulldozers being depicted as animals. So here's my theory. Cars, Planes, Locomotives and a few other vehicles are highly evolved forms of certain other vehicles. So, Roombas may be related to some other vehicles, like street sweepers.

This was certainly worth the wait, so much obscure stuff I didn’t know about, although I surprisingly knew about a lot of the more obscure stuff in that video, and there’s some stuff I’d like to comment on, 21:50 I’m not sure but I remember someone saying that they removed it cuz it was kinda disrespectful to Paul, again not sure, 39:51 I could’ve sworn I heard an English dub with all the original voice actors, I specifically remember it in a video showcasing the early animation of the commercial that actually used the Rusteze Lightning McQueen paintjob instead of the Cars 3 one, although the video might be removed from KZread now but I’m confident it existed, 1:07:56 I actually remember watching the one where all the cars were a mess using different parts from other cars, 1:25:27 definitely would like to see the ones that you said you had plans on doing a separate video on, more specifically tho the canceled/removed video game characters, it surprised me that ramone, nigel, tex, and John all had early 3d models for cars fast as lightning, 1:32:33 I also had storybook retellings of the cars 2 movie and I remember this confusing me cuz I didn’t remember that scene from the movie, 1:51:37 also that black car looks like Jackson, I guess that book really can predict the future, overall amazing video, really enjoyed it and it was easily one of the best videos on your channel

The reason for the 2010 cancelled cars because it was for a lease disagreement between Disney and Mattel so some were released or cancelled and I remember playing the world of cars game. And the reason for the shutdown for the game is because the game was constantly crashing and glitching a lot and that game was not as memorable

This is an incredible video!!! So much information I had either forgotten about or didn't know. I actually have another theory lore-wise of why Snot Rod isn't in Tokyo Mater: Mater National. Snot Rod is the only one of the DRH (Delinquent Road Hazards) to be in the game. I theorize he may have left the group after the events of the first game, as I don't recall the DRH ever appearing again after Tokyo Mater (excluding DJ) aside from perhaps a couple of books. And also...I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the idea of the VINs downright terrifying...I was freaked out by it as a kid, and still am.

As for World Of Cars Online, I got to play it from release. It was super fun. There are multiple people in the community who want to bring it back and have the .SWF files to, but nobody is willing to help actually code anything. If it ever does come back, I think you'd enjoy playing it.

Cars are already a form of technology in real life but in the cars universe they are sentient and have body parts, so would turning a car into a robot in this universe simply just mean you removed their sentience, or would that mean you remove parts of them like their tongues since they already have robot voices? Yeah your right the implications of this are confusing and messed up to think about. Those factories must violate every single “car-rights” law in the book if that’s a thing in their universe.

i saw the LMA in paris when I was younger and i can still remember the cars scene i can also imagine that 'Backwards to the Forwards' is a take on Back to the Future

Such a great video with amazing information for new and old cars fans. Thanks for including things I suggested. I also have the Cars 2 Novelization but I don’t where it is now. I might of not read the book because I don’t remember reading it. I saw a theory a while ago on Instagram about how some cars like Murray Clutchburn and other cars with the same name different mold from cars 1 that they went through a similar process the VIN cars went through. The cars bare metal series reminds me of the hotwheels Zamac Series, which have been released since 2013 or 2014 I believed are variants of cars like an example I can think of is last year Hotwheels made a Nissan Fairlady in blue they would release it later on in a case with bare metal with the same details but just metal as the name suggests. Theory for Vic Vanley, he was a journalist who went to Japan and was in the hotel room in the You Might Think sequence and was leaving in the Airport the same time as Mater and witnessed Acer fall into the trucks tank. I think things that would’ve been interesting to add were Mini and Van shown passing sleeping McQueen when he fell out of Mack’s trailer. I also think the Mini Adventures correlating to some of the Cars Comics like the Fire Fighters versions of them would be interesting as well. I also think Patokaa or another police car shown to hit Blue Pacer ( Petey Pacer? ) that is similar or even scene in the spinning donuts scene in Tokyo Mater would be a cool reference. Also the Signature Series would also have been a cool edition to this as I saw someone actually have the full finished prototype own one. Some funny scenes and references from planes fire and rescue when Mayday says he got some Rusteze from Dotty and Then Mayday shows off his bumper and says Ka-Chow. Another interesting one from planes is a Character from planes named Brody who is voiced also voiced over by John Ratzenberger too.

I remember when i was between 6-8 years old and playing the world of cars online and how much i loved it. it was one of my favourite game from my childhood and still to this day i sometimes try and find if somehow someone has recreated it. I vividly remember some aspects such as needing a special membership to have all kind of extra features but sadly i have never had it (similar to club penguin membership from back in the day). i remember just clicking away and exploring the whole map, it had this kind of feeling which made me feel happy and i remember always smiling whilst playing. I also remember how excited i was when you got to see a certain character from the movie in the actual game, but it wasn't that rare. There were a few different locations you can go to. One minigame that stuck with me forever was one where you was in space as dinoco mcqueen with his rockets and had to destroy all kind of things. Now i'm 17 years old and I'd do anything to be able to relive those moments. I'm so glad you have created this Cars Iceberg in such detail and it has honestly been a masterpiece, sadly it hasn't had the reach as other icebergs but this one definitely deserves the recognition. Thank you for compiling this iceberg, it encompasses pretty much everything i love about the cars franchise, even some of the most obscure details which i haven't seen any data anywhere else has been covered, just amazing.

I'm just now watching this video and I see a screenshot from my upload of the Piston Cup Tall Tale opening deleted scene made into the vid at 22:46! Pretty cool! It's also nice seeing an iceberg video on this franchise knowing how big it is. Also some things about Cars 2 in the deeper layers: The reason why people believe Cars 2 was made up was cause of official statements from Pixar employees and voice actors calling it a "tall tale". There are some other things such as there barely being any references to it in Cars 3 (besides Jeff and the supposed Miles cameo and the "Z" seems to reference Cars 2 but the Z might actually be a stylized 2 just sharp enough to be a Z) but that's really the main reason why. With Lewis Revington's design I believe it actually appears in the first actual Cars 2 trailer and can be briefly seen in front of Shu so there's two actual pieces of media of his design being used.

Yes I actually played world of cars online, it's actually where my character King nevertire comes from (that was my username in the game)

I went to cars land early 2013 and from what I can remember, the Luigi ride was sorta fun, but I remember having more fun on the Mater ride. while we were there I do remember the DJ show, I was little and I recognized the song at the time but cant remember what it was right now. I were eating at Flo's when I saw it and did not get up to see it, but I did enjoy the music. Another fact to add, I don't know how true this is but the film The Castle of Cagliostro, Wich had a car chase with a yellow fiat 500 and a pink 2cv, was shown at cal arts in the 80's and John Lasseter liked it. when cars came out he wanted a yellow Fiat and Luigi was made. One last thing remember the Mater brick tales as one of them came on a lego club dvd around 2012ish

I kinda wonder if the Roomba was supposed to be like an animal like their equivalent to a cat or something. A lot of vehicles like tractors and bulldozers are animals in universe. Forklifts, Planes, Trains, cars, space shuttles and boats were all the same as people though so it's hard to say where the cut off is. I like the video games but honestly, they don't really work as cannon. There's that road going left of the court house in the three games based off the first movie. That road isn't present in any of the movies. Also, Mater National re-designed Ornament Valley but it then reverted back in Race-O-Rama and we also don't see any of the stuff out there in the movies that was present in games, also McQueen's racing headquarters from Race-O-Rama isn't in the movies. I'm going to guess that Sally wasn't in some of the video games due to some type of licensing issue with Porsche. I'm guessing they wanted too much money to license the model out. That's just a guess though. She's a major character though so not including her for any other reason wouldn't make sense. I don't think that was Herbie in Finding Dory, there was no Herbie markings on it. Just because it's a VW Bug, it's not automatically a Herbie reference. That would be like saying every AMC Pacer that shows up is a reference to Wayne's World and that every Mini that shows up is a reference to Mr. Bean.

You make some really good points, especially with the radiator springs geography. I’ve been told by several other commenters that EA owned the rights to Porsche for several years, which is why she is absent from several games. As for the herbicide reference, I remembered hearing years ago that apparently that beetle was a herbie reference, and I recorded that segment referencing it, but when I went to edit it, I realized that the car didn’t have herbie’s markings, so I wasn’t really sure what to say lol. But yeah, honestly, it’s most likely not a reference

1:15:40 there is actually another answer for this. Snot Rod is based off of a dragster Dodge Charger, but better known as a 'Funny Car' (Dragstrip racers with large tires at the back, giant engines in the front.). 'Funny Cars' are purely built for speed, and not handling, which is why Snot Rod is also confirmed to be the fastest of the group. If you even try to drift a funny car, your in for quite the wreck. Edit: After watching more, I've discovered that at 1:40:26, I actually own this Lightning McQueen, along side a gold varient.

The cars teaser trailer car with the 75 is the early version of mcqueen that we see in the soryboards from cars 1 and all the cars in the scene are the same model wich is based of a nascar 2000-2002 chevy monte carlo wich is also the car model that inspired Jr's model from cars, the animation is kinda bad becouse it was made in like 2001 and it was exclusive to the incredibles dvd and to the people who saw the movie in theatres, also the soundtrack of the teaser is a song named Westbound sign wich is an underrated Green Day song released in their 1995 album Insomniac. Yeah... I investigated....

They probably changed the nationality of those racers to do not make any country feel left out. In the italian version, the Cars 2 version is unchanged because Francesco exists, but Rochelle does change

this was an absolutely amazing video! I don't know if you know this, but the Walmart advertisement is uploaded on Instagram by someone so you can see it. also the varoom sponsor can be seen on chick hicks, which leads me to believe all the other obscure sponsors were also changed.

@@ttoyreviewsty what I've found on chick hicks is that he has 34 sponsors (by my counting), so dinoco and rusteze didn't sponsor him and the 6 obscure sponsors were changed in the movie. so varoom and vuzeen to rev-n-go and viewzeen, yum and sludgee to tach-o-mint and vinyl toupee (?), and texas tea and motor oil removed for apple and dale earnhardt inc. I hope that makes sense

Yeah, the cars 2 version is easily the best. The cars 3 version was incredibly disappointing, it barely adds any new characters, removes a ton of characters from the other editions, and the artwork isn’t even consistent with the art in the other books...

She wasn’t released as a diecast, but yeah, that does kind of look like a card back. I’m pretty sure that was just a promotional image of her, I just found it on the world of cars wiki

Rex Dinoco could possibly just be Tex Dinoco's brother, as they are the same type of car, with the same last name.
