Richard Jaekel is the MP of the Dozen and is by default, one of them with his share of enemy kills and war injuries.

Charles Bronson as one of the Dirty Dozen was the only man to make it out alive in one piece. He did get injured. They say the inmate soldiers would be given their freedom, if they make it out alive of this mission. As for what I saw, 9 died in that battle, as 3 made it out alive. That goes for him, the Major and the sergeant. I suppose he got his freedom anyway. And Charles Bronson, since I've known you from 'The Great Escape', you've done grand jobs on your movies as an actor. May you rest in piece, good man!!!

@D Sullivan The irony is that it started a stampeded into the 'safe' air raid shelter, trapping all the officers in one place.

I like the fact that even the survivors are still heavily wounded. Even when you succeed in a war, you don't escape unscathed.

Why isn't Charles Bronsons last comment in the top 100 of all time quotes. Charles gets the last talking part over Lee Marvin, and it's a killer.

We can only assume Posey (Clint Walker) was killed in the final battle but his death was not shown like the other eleven. An oversight.

When I first saw the film, I was disappointed that Jim Brown's and Clint Walker's characters was killed and Trini Lopez's character too. Still a classic war film to enjoy.

Trini Lopez's character Jimenez died an off screen death "broke his neck from the parachute drop"! ( Lopez could not continue filming the climactic action scenes).

@@gabrieldjatienza6971 Trivia: According to Jim Brown's autobiography, Trini Lopez's part was supposed to be larger, but he demanded that his part be even bigger, or he'd walk off the movie, which you don't do to director Robert Aldrich. The next day the question was asked, "Where's Jimenez?" Charles Bronson said "He got hung on an apple tree. Broke his neck." An obvious jab at Lopez's hit song "Lemon tree."

There's a supposed sequel...Lee Marvin already died, Telly Savalas, who "died" in original, was recast as Lee Marvin's character!

Lee Marvin was in the 1st 1985 made for T.V. sequels but not Savalas. Telly Savalas was in the 1987 & 1988 T.V. MOVIES as was Ernest Borgnine who played the General in all four movies.
