What we really need is a Digital Director Director. Think of the isolation!

An absolutely high class reference audio device. Stunning, amazing, probably one if not THE best. But seriously, one of the dumbest decision you have could made is to place the Select/ Volume Knob on the top. Weirdest location ever. Out of sight, hardly visible, even more difficult to control. Sure, you can use and operate by RC/App, but thats not the point. Somehow I'd like to control it directly at the device itself too. That for, AVM made a better solution. Veryyyyyy smooth and good response when operating. So, bcs of this case, its certainly just 99% perfect.

Hi dear friends of MSB Technology. I have a Reference DAC and I'm wondering whether to add a Digital Director. But which version ? Would it be a non sense to go initiallly for a Premier Digital Director instead of the Reference Digital Director ? Is it a crime against majesty ? Beyond the form factor difference of the chassis between Premier and Reference levels, does the switching power supply of the Premier "degrade" a bit the operation of the Digital Director due to the lack of the low noise linear PWS of the Reference Digital Director ?

We have a pretty strong consensus that the Reference Director is worth every bit of the higher price. That being said, the Premier Director adds a tremendous amount of improvement on its own. Evaluating cost vs. performance is a very personal metric. It is not a crime, and I certainly wouldn't judge you either way ;)

hello I have the MSB Premier DAC + Power Base dac, I ask the question if I can put the MSB Technology Select Digital Director on it? And concretely what is the sound difference between the MSB Technology Select Digital Director and the MSB Technology Reference Digital Director. I can see Quen Select Digital has the switching power supply, but is the difference really audible between the 2?

The Reference and Select Digital directors are identical in performance. The only difference is the matching chassis to the correct system. The Premier Digital Director ships with a switching supply, instead of the linear supply from the Reference and Select Models. The supply in the Premier model is appropriately matched to the Premier DAC. Before upgrading the Digital Director to Reference or Select level, I would recommend upgrading the Premier DAC first.
