I have one of these on the way, the night shot mode moves the IR Blocking filter out of the way and makes the camera full spectrum i have heard there is a way to add friction to the switch with a folded peace of paper and slowly move the switch so the filter moves out of the way but you are still in full manual. other similar cameras like the sony dsc v1, dsc v3 , and dsc f717(and a few others ) have a trick where you can use a strong magnet to pull the filter out of the way. i have already done some aerochrome style ir photos with other cameras but the missing glass causes focus issue so i think the better auto focus on this camera can compensate

i bought the exact sony dsc h50 camera im just wondering if it might be good for music videos or should i get a vlogging camera instead the photos you took are so good keep on doing what your doing man new sub for sure

I have this camera, just cleaned it from lens mold. I'm trying to figure out whether I should take it with me on a scenic holiday trough Vietnam or whether I should buy something like an A5100 or a NEX, haven't made up my mind yet.

thanks ... just the normal mode and set contrast and saturation to the lowest setting and work a bit on the jpgs in Capture One

Can you please film a video using it?

Hello! I'm trying to understand the CCD hype. From what I understood, the advantage comes when people shoot jpegs and instantly get good film-like results for cheap?

Well, straight-out-of-camera (SOOC) jpegs is a small part of it but the main thing really is the CCD Sensor and how it "captures" light & color,. Also with some cameras, the "organic" noise pattern with "higher" ISO has a "film-like" feel to it sometimes.

@@yuriythebest Well that is complex... I would not use the word natural ... CCD and older Lenses are more "organic" so to say ... but as always it's the combination of Sensor, Processing (in camera) Lens, and so on ...a modern Sony A7RV 60MP with a Vintage Leica Lens can look Organic but also a Digicam with CCD 10MP and a Zeiss lens ...

i own one in silver, still takes better photos in zoom than my iphone (:

yes you can but it's 480p 4:3 30fps

2 days of searching just to figure out if it records or not LOLOL im trying to find digital cam that has 'character' with slight quality. The DSC-H50 is perfect compared the cybershot DSC-H20 that couldn't focus on the correct object in frame to save its life. i been in the photography for almost my entire life now, and digital is just making me want to degrade since they all companies release money grabs or same quality camera the other company has.
