The Differences Between Ceramic and Glass Mini Fuses and Mini Fuse Basics

In today's video, we'll be going through the basics of ceramic and glass fuses.
➡️ We've got the three standard-sized fuses to show you, for both the glass and the ceramic fuses, ranging from the 3.6 by 10 millimeter to the 6 by 30 millimeter.
Most specifications for each fuse are stamped on the end caps and typically start with a T or an F. T stands for time-delay while the F means fast acting. This is followed by numbers which indicate the amperage value. Each fuse also carries a marking for breaking capacity, L and H: low breaking, and high breaking.
➡️ The final marking shows voltage rating and the average fuse is rated at 250 volts. Check out our website for our mini fuse stock!

    Can I replace a 7A fuse with a 13A fuse?

    If your equipment calls for a 7A fuse to be used, then no. Never use a fuse with a greater current rating than what is specified by the manufacturer, otherwise it may not offer adequate protection against faults.

    Hello Thanks again for your educational information. I have two devices which I want to protect against high voltage (220 V). The varistor should clamp at (150 V). 1st device: 120 Volts 550 Watts 2nd device: 120 Volts 2,500 Watts My question is: What's the right (MOV) size for each device? What's is the varistor's: Diameter Resistance Voltage Ampere. Thank you so much.

    Nice Video. One Question: I have a blown 3.6x10mm glass axial fuse that doesn't appear to have markings on it and I have another one that is not blown with no apparent markings. How do I know what replacement fuse to order?

    The Fuse markings should be on the silver cap at the end of the fuse. However it is important to replace a blown fuse with the exact same kind. Unfortunately if there are no markings, I would check with the manufacturer of the item, or the place that you bought it from!

    Hello, Unfortunately I do not have the technical expertise to accurately answer this question without being able to see the fuse. I do not want to give out false or misleading information that could possibly harm your appliance/you if the wrong kind of fuse is used. I apologize for this!

    Hello, Thank you for your comment! I would highly not advise doing so. When changing your fuse, you want to replace it with the exact same kind, amperage, voltage, and size of fuse! Hope this helps!!!

    But What's the difference between glass and ceramic fuses? Can I replace my blown ceramic fuse with a glass fuse?

  • @thefuseshop3364

    @thefuseshop3364

    Hello, Please view the differences between glass and ceramic fuses here: www.electrity.com/glass-vs-ceramic-fuse/#:~:text=The%20thermal%20stability%20of%20glass,avoid%20creating%20a%20conducting%20coating. But essentially only replace blown fuses with the same kind of fuses. So if you had a 5X20mm 15Amp ceramic fuse that blew, you would only want to replace it with a 5x20mm 15Amp ceramic fuse. And vice versa!
