Way too many KZreadrs call themselves “Filmmakers” only, but I don’t really think it matters. It’s just a title. Your content and creativity is inspiring and obviously thousands of people want to see it. Keep creating, bro!

@@bardanmcguireunfortunately, in the KZread context, or any social media context, that’s what filmmakers create. The only way to grow and maintain an audience here is to make “content”. I think a filmmaker posting regular, formatted videos on KZread is both a filmmaker and content creator. The “film” part of the filmmaker may not always make it to KZread, though. Hopefully a VOD streaming service or theater near you 😉.

The difference is in the intention and deep seated love for cinema. “Cinematic” is more then a look. Being a filmmaker is more than good shots lenses and color grading. It’s about the story and the impact the story genuinely has. Not about how a film looks it’s about how a film feels.

Well said! I don’t understand gatekeeping and the pretentious attitudes of wanting to put people in a box or category. I’ve seen short films on KZread that are 10x better than ones that have had theatrical releases. I only recently came by your channel and I really enjoy your filmmaking and photography style!

I can‘t describe how much you inspire me and thousands of people, your creations are amazing and unique, your tips get me to create things - I‘m getting into photography and videography at the moment and your channel made me fall in love with the process. Nobody explains things like you and tells me just to go and create and not worry about some expensive equipment. Just wanted to thank you! And it doesn‘t matter to me if you are a youtuber, or a filmmaker - to me you are a inspiration.

There’s are different types of film making. Because you’re making a film. That can be commercial, KZread, documentaries, but cinema is another story. It’s just a certain level of respect to something extremely sacred. Which is story. And story is so much deeper than just “content” people have been through so much to get to that moment of someone telling their story for likes views and comments. It’s bigger than that. And that’s why people feel like people “gatekeep” that space. It’s about keeping it sacred and not letting it be infiltrated by people who only care about consuming and not genuinely connecting to story.

You touched on a subject we believe gets overlooked a lot on this platform especially. It is all the different hats that must be worn to even put together a 10 minute video to publish. Writer, director, producer, camera man, audio specialist, editor and so on. Filmmaker is absolutely the right term. This platform is a great place to home those skills and get to the next level. And yes at times you get those “experts” in the comment section who tell you everything you’ve done wrong, but don’t have the courage to put themselves in front of the camera. We are glad to have found this channel. Let’s keep elevating our skills, elevating each other, reach those goals and inspire more to keep at it.

I started as a videographer and did music videos and tour videos for famous rock bands. I got tired of being on the road for months living on a tour bus, so I started vlogging my daily life. Now everyone who watches me thinks I'm just a youtuber, but that filmmaker side of my never dies off. When I add in cinematic shots or anything creative with editing, my viewers lose their minds haha and just for that fact alone, I'm ok with being called a youtuber because I hit them with a special treat here and there and it sets me apart from everyone else in my niche on KZread. Love your content man! I watch all the time, but never comment. This one spoke to me!

I'm a filmmaker who chose KZread as my distribution platform because it was the easiest and least gatekeeping option. I'm down to put things other places (which I have with limited success). There's something about having an immediate and direct connection that's invaluable - to me. BTW love your videos/films/art/all of it! 🙋🏿‍♀

His portfolio is fearless and he created his own lane to the point that people mimic his style all over KZread. As per usual, a beautifully shot video, and definitely one that speaks to the many hats worn by a 21st century creative -- I think, probably, regardless of your creative discipline/practice. I agree that "being a KZreadr" is often spoken about in a negative light and it's always struck me as strange that putting your work on KZread could somehow devalue the art or work you create, as if it changes the standard of your work, any accolades you might have or even the intention behind why you create. Speaking to your channel, I think you create some of the most authentic and beautiful videos on this platform. Everything that you put out demonstrates your artistry and it's such a pleasure to be able to watch your videos and consume the art that you put out. Definitely a massive inspiration
