@@lov_eli it's not dramatic. They designed the gem system so that, even when you're on the "suggested gem level" for the difficulty, the NPCs still have a huge advantage. Therfor you are pressured into paying real money to upgrade you're gems higher than the current difficulty level just to be on a "fair" playing field. It's predatory and aggrevating. Just like money sucking mobile games

@@trevor5071 finding new ways to "cheese" the npc is really fun. thats part of the challenge. instead of just the traditional "learn this zero to death combo string and spam it until you hit it. there are some challenges where even just getting hit once is game over. reminds me of my childhood playing super hard games.

Steven was S tier, but when every match is against wonder woman, bugs, finn, and the like, that doesn't mean much. He could have used some minor nerfs, but not all this 😭

we saw what happened to bugs. wonder women and finn will be the new top 2 and eventually get the bugs treatment. steven is still A tier so anyone expecting buffs are gonna be in for a rough time lol.

He actually was pretty good in the beta at first you could loop combos like side side jump cancel down air repeat but they took that out this the second time they gutted him but we’ll figure it out I also love the show

Maaaan, this seems like such a dramatic over-correction that there’s no way this is all gonna stick, right?? Like (huge copium) maybe the balance team is experimenting with extreme ends of the spectrum with the ultimate goal of trying to hit a happy middle point eventually??? This really feels like it goes beyond character power or competitive viability. It’s more like they’ve gutted some of the key things that make the character unique. Like... I don’t even play as Steven, but if these changes all remain as-is, I think I’m going to miss fighting against the old Steven. His walls are super interesting and are honestly a blast to have to problem-solve around. I would describe them as... annoying in a good way?! I know good rebalancing is hard, I know he needed some nerfs somewhere, and I’m honestly really not sure where those nerfs _should have_ been, but I do wish they’d let him keep more of his coolest s***. I really hate to feed into the pessimism for such a fun game, but all the Stevie boys out there have definitely got my sympathies on this one.

there basically getting rid of cooler stuff for buggs and steven in turn for a more competitively viable game. the casuals dont want that. they want cool stuff on each character that makes them feel unique. they trying to be melee when the sales show ultimate is far better.

The bouncing isnt even that bad when you consider some of the nonsense stuff the other fighters have. Like iron giant or bugs, with the extremely early kills are way more of an issue for the general game health imo.

Haven't had a chance to try it yet but it seems like they gutted Gizmo, too? The whole point was to charge up a big popcorn ball with a charged up arrow and wallop your opponent with one big attack. But according to the patch notes the popcorn charge now has no effect Why do they have it out for ex-support characters

Lowkey what they should do once they receive all the harsh backlash is bring back the bounce shack and then instead of making shield slow, make it so the parry window is when you drop the shield instead of bringing it up

Yeah it sucks that Steven got some unnecessary nerfs, but by the time I change the perks and lowered the input buffers, it felt like nothing has changed for playing Steven. I manage to win a few matches and won my first Free For All. I do hope that they do buff Steven a bit which would be nice.

Steven was and will continue to be my main but with these nerfs im trying to find at least a secondary main because these nerfs are insane. I can understand they don't want the dair nair loops so they nerfed it especially since it's not considered a projectile anymore but Steven shield now being so fragile means his ability to create "walls" to bounce his opponent his pretty much over the shield could already be damaged by attack and it's now like you could bounce your opponent every time you put a shield up but it's even less likely now for it to happen. Bubble is so slow it's feel awful to pull out mid fight in 1v1 now 8 to 20 frames 20.FRAMES it could have been lower if they really needed to slow it down but 20 frame just doesn't feel good to me it's not like you can move with bubble anyway it already had a cooldown could be destroy in 3 hits and destroyed by armor breaking attacks but it's joever for bubble imo Sorry for the rant and but in conclusion Steven doesn't feel gutted (probably copium) im still able to get have success with him he still can rack up damage though his ko power is still eh but he feels like he has to work even harder now his bubble is literally called unbreakable bonds but it's now slow, fragile and even less versatile now yet characters like WW get to move with armor and still feels crazy like before this is probably your average (overreacting cause your main got nerf) maybe it's just me but idk. TLDR: Steven nerfs dont feel right also with no buff to any other moves in his kit to compensate.

I mean the bubble shield nerf is actually just adding some counter play now. Before if they missed the parry the Steven would still just eat the damage and then instantly punish the other person for likely more than the Steven took. He just isn’t extremely free on parry anymore, some people kinda felt carried with this mechanic. On the bounce changes, it sucks a bit but realistically in a 1v1 environment you weren’t getting more than 3 bounces per shield very often. I main Finn but also have a good amount of time on Steven as well with around 350 wins so take what I say with same salt maybe. Character still has a lot to offer especially in a 2v2 environment

Im confused as to why they essential removed his tank functions. He doesn’t feel like a tank anymore, especially when bubble didn’t get u punishes. It was only for recovering safer. It’s so slow now though tht Steven is a tank with no panic moves unlike all the other tanks

Literally what is the point of his shield now? Its so slow to the point you cant really block anything with it. By the time it comes out people will already be like "oh he's shielding" and either wont attack you or attack with a shield breaking move

They made the shield bounce damage perk USELESS!! And including his already useless watermelon perk looks like everyone can be creative and play with generalist🎉🎉... Also if a 20 frame startup (only after the parry window) is their solution to shield Just remove shield and replace it with something that other people dont get as salty to VS

3:14 this shit, literally against jason, joker, batman, im MID COMBO and they can dodge, and like, they LITERALLY react twice faster. i tought it was lag, i tought then i was the problem, re-watched steven guides to become cool again, then i found this video. HOW CAN I KEEP IT UP IF JOKER, HARLEY, BUGS AND TOM CAN HIT ME MID COMBO. and 70% of the times i tried my upper and lower hits they somehow appeare to have more range or be more quicker. i really felt frustated.

I loved the series so much, being able to play Steven Universe right as open beta released was a big draw & the reason I started playing Multiversus. I know Garnet is here & we love her as a character but I don't think she fits everyone's bill. With all of Steven's strengths which were 'on the level' with other characters, being removed. Damn. Just doesn't seem like there's a point to playing Multiversus for the Steven mains. He wasn't over-tuned, he was in a good place, he still was bad against rush down, even with all the defense, like a good batch of characters are. They should've buffed other characters rather than nerf the things that made Steven Unique. These moves that were good, quickly become moves that leave him not stacking up with others. Bounce Bubble, U-special, N-air, D-air being the way they were, were part of his play style & it's crushing seeing them reduced to nothing but glance-worthy. Might be time for me to give up on Multiversus too till he's treated right again. 😅

To be honest, as someone fighting him, he wasn't that awful to fight. His main issue about him was watermelon steve being oppressive when yiur already dealing with a combo situation. As for the bubble shield nerf, really undeserved to be honest. His bubble shield already lost against a few things instantly, maybe just make it have a delay in 2v2s And for the walls, i think it's a decrnt change, but change it where only enemies damage the shield to prevent any excessive combos, but make it have more life or at least add a perk to add health Undeserved nerfs.

Let's see: No way to approach without cooldowns Too slow to run away from most of the cast until cooldowns are back on (cringe strategy I know but he doesn't even have that) Little to no combo game, even off of setups Basically no kill power, even off a HARD read. Slow frame data, fastest move being frame 8 and most being frame 15 (even his dodges are frame 10). No reach except for on his 2 laggiest moves. Yeah this seems like a character whose best matchup is a -2.

time to go back to maining garnet like before beta

It's not quite as bad as it seemed on paper - except the bubble shield, that is fucked. But the shield walls/platforms arent even vanishing like the patch notes describe they are supposed to now. Still lasting multiple hits beyond 3, almost every match I'm seeing the "old" shields still. Leave it to PlayerFirstGames to not even be able to ruin their game as they intended 🤣

I like the rifts, daily rifts are a fun warm-up for me to then go pvp. Just the fact they exist in the game from the start is the best thing PFG could have done for the game. On paper the nerfs look bad and Yes the dopamine when getting pinball of the shields was good, the problem is getting 0 to 80 in one combo is not healthy for the game no matter how fun it is. That is why I hated playing against bugs, neutral safe above you > FF > down air > n air was always 80+ damage meaning after one wrong read you are in kill precent for bugs with up air. How is that fair? Besides Stevens best move is n air full charge into ground bounce. And the bubble shield needed counter play. Yes you take damage still but it is already unfair that you can absorb all 3 side attacks and then steal your turn, so the loop was I either parry and steal my turn back or I take 3 hits and steal my turn back anyway.

He was a unique character in terms of mechanics, that is, look at Batman, Harley or Shaggy, he has no mystery, you hit, you hit and that's it, but Steven had many things... This is coming from a Steven Universe fan who watched the ENTIRE series (Steven Universe, Steven Universe The Movie, Steven Universe Future) MULTIPLE times. I’ve only played Steven Universe since the start of MultiVersus due to my obsession with the show and his unique and interesting mechanics that require skill and precise timing to use. I know where every move was inspired and taken from within the series. I know all the little references they placed within the Sky Arena map, such as Blue Diamond’s Hand, the Ruby ship, the all-topping Fish Stew Pizza, the Big Donut donuts, the cheeseburger backpack Steven used within the series, the apple juice soda seen inside The Big Donut, the Pearl badge on the board, Rose Quartz’s sword, the Diamond Authority emblems, the gem language inscribed on the pillars, and Amethyst and her whip. Not only that, I know where some of Steven’s lines are referenced from: “That one’s for Connie,” referencing Connie Maheswaran, “I guess you just have to let yourself be wherever you are,” referencing the song “Be Wherever You Are,” and “Oh Steven. How do you keep getting into these predicaments?” from the episode “Steven Can Fly?” I’m incredibly upset that they ruined the fun and enjoyment that Steven Universe brought, yet they decided to nerf other characters with little thought or attention, practically leaving them the same as before. At first, I was hopeful about this game, but now I can’t even enjoy playing it as much without Steven. I was extraordinarily skilled with Steven, so much so that I even beat players who placed 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th, and 15th at EVO. The only thing that would bring me back is changing Steven back to his original game design or adding Pearl or Connie as new characters.

NO FUN ONLY HARLEY AND WW God, they gave him literally fucking nothing. He didn't deserve to get hit this hard.

i am a steven main and this is TERRIBLE but i think im gonna keep going because i like steven as a character and i want to be deticated to playing him even if he sucks even if they nerf him into the ground i think id be funny to just be good as him even if he is a bottom tier

I was a gizmo main on release and went over to Steven after they gutted his car and arrows. I understand both these characters were very strong but I just feel like the way they nerfed them was wrong.

Bro, it's more than bad, they gutted the character and all these T&J Spray and prey spammers be talking like this is the way forward. Dude, they were supposed to balance characters, not kill them! And what the heck did they do to Dair?!? Can we talk about how just throwing the move has you locked in place for 2 whole seconds??? Meanwhile, Finn gets to live rent-free because "He's so popular." Give me a break. 10 Whole nerfs and salty players are quick to say we are overreacting. PFG do better, no one asked for these drastic changes.

This is the only character that feels smash like to me, so I gravitated towards him. I don't even like the show

They butchered Garnet over the last few patches too, She was never even a threat in the meta. She feels like crap to play now, and i just see batman mains off in the distance pulling off crazy damage and combos for free with ridiculous hitboxes, while Garnets struggling to even move 2 feet with her dodge, everything snags her huge thighs so she cant dodge anything, moves are slow, no disjoints, airspeed is awful, and now the one thing she had with her loops, which made her fun to play because it was actually balanced, with a moderate reward compared to the top tiers at the cost of ALL her meter, for semi true strings. Its gone, shes got nothing now. I even tried the steven nerfs in training and it feels like hot garbage too. And i never even PLAYED Steven at all. I dont think ill be playing anymore, i dont like the way theyre balancing things with move lockouts instead of addressing the actually broken 0-deaths without just randomly adding a weird unintuitive delay to spamming moves.

This is what I’m saying!! Then ppl argue to me saying he was overpowered in the beginning!! THATS SKILL ISSUE BRO🤦‍♂️ the change with his bubble is horrible then people say that it was hard to counter Steven with his bubble before but no it wasn’t 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The parry's the same, but the shield taking so much time to come up means you'll need actual observation haki to block anything that isnt an obvious telegraphed attack. It's just like why even have the shield passive at this point, just give him something else like the normal super armor that will actually block some damage

We're not talking some damage drop off or hitbox changes tho, we're talking BIG MEATY CLAWS of changes to the fundamentals of how the character works. Its the entire playstyle at the foundational level

@@k0smiccc You're delusional if you think Steven is actually S tier. He's only highly ranked because more people picked him up and nobody knows how to deal with him because nobody used to play him.

The Nerfed Steven's Bounce Shack stil gives you time to builld up free damage to an stunlocked opponent and even pull a charge attack to confirm the kill in high porcentages along with all steven's kit of abilitys to garante an advantage. Now you can't juts builld up up to 70-90% no more, that's it, I was able rank up to 40 damage with the Bounce damege perk on the nerfed Steven's bounce shack, you called 40 damage not a "respectable combo" then basicaly many combos in the game would not be "respectable" by that logic. Now, steven's shield, can see how it may have become ussles in this pach. Before, the shield made the parry too safe to try to pull off, and now, the shield could only viable as a suport tool in 2v2s thanks to how slow it activates. I would suggest reverting it to how I was and simply remove the parry from steven entirely. Perry and shield really don't seem to mix. I understand seeing you main/favorite character beeing nerfed is hard but sometimes, you just gotta take it and work with what you have (at leats that what I would do). You've made great videos on Muitiversus and I sure would like you to stay but if your passion for the game is struggling there's no hard feelings.

I thought I was overreacting and I just needed to get better with Steven but it seems everyone in here is in agreement that they gutted Steven. He felt perfect last patch they realistically should have waited after the universal hit stun nerf to buff or nerf characters. Sad day for Steven mains hope they fix him soon.

Not really i dont think people really realize how good steven is still.why would he even have a shield that bounces ya over and over but then lebron can only have 1 bouce ber ball? He still does good damage. you will just have to be more accurate when you play him.

No one else really has to be as precise and that shield is so punishable now it will only be viable to block long range projectiles u could've avoided anyway these nerfs were way too heavy handed
