In that world WW1 didn’t happen, so this is technically the first, but it happens during the time between when 1 & 2 would have happened, but the circumstances are closer too 1 since the Germany equivalent isn’t Nazis, it’s still a Kaiser.

Yeah it seems like the Most of the post WW1 tactics and static warfare was used throughout before the at the end which evolves to WW2 stuff later on. Spolier (maybe) She did implement the idea of a highly mobile battalion reminiscent of the Panzer division in WW2.

​@@waifuechidna2470 yes, because shes from the modern world and is using real-world tactics. this is one of the reasons she promotes in the manga/novels and is seen as a prodigy tactician at her age and not just a powerhouse with her magic. has nothing to do with her being a nazi or whatever (and im not saying u said this but ive seen this claim too many times on twitter)

Magic in this world is basically refined to the point of being a science and they design basically swiss watches which can compute the formulas needed for spells. Its actually really cool because it is totally what people would have done with magic if it existed and they totally would have turned it into a weapon for war like in this show.

Yes! This show is incredible. Just from a cinematography stand point it's so extremely well done. Like for example, notice how Tanya almost always is framed as if she's above others, even when she's actually below them, showing her superiority. 10:26 is a perfect example.

You've seen Overlord and Konosuba and Re:Zero - after you've seen this, you'll be good to go for Isakai Quartet. It's a 4 way crossover of all these titles.

It's loosely based on ww1. Though in this casebtje war drags on for a lot longer. I love the anime and fucking love the novels.

This is essentially an alternate magi-tech world in the middle of WW1 with Tanya fighting for Fantasy Imperial Germany. So a very militaristic and elitist society, but minus the insane racism and extermination policies of the Nazis.

14:15 in a way she did. She knew the odds of them dying in that place is extremely high. With that knowledge she wanted them there so they could die. If some miracle the pillbox wasn’t shot at then Tanya be like whatever and let it slide if fate allows them to live. If not then she is 100% with them gone. Basically directly she didn’t kill them but she did lead them to that place to be killed by another hand.

I don’t know episode count but apparently you stop one episode shy of the series going off, so much death and betrayal and plot haha 😂, it is the furthest thing from boring it went from casual watch to my most hyped of the season animation got good with flow and choreography . Definitely prefer it over to your eternity and most spring anime. This show and the anime Vivy on Funimation are some the best writing and feel like spiritual successors of Attack on Titan well Vivy does blood and snow I would say more the successor of Dororo.

What I love about the show (and the light novel as well) is that the author really understand his military history and the doctrines used and the development of those doctrines over the course of the story makes perfect sense. A lot of fantasy or sci-fi shows do not think the consequences of a technology/magic through and just put in nonsensical battle-tactics. Not this one. Deep respect for the author.

Seeing as it's the first solo project studio Nut ever did I'm not surprised they didn't go right into season 2. They originally didn't plan to do a movie but got inspired by the movie Dunkirk. Stoked we finaly gerr the next season.

Y'all need to go back and finish overlord

One thing I hated about the translation of the title was that it outright makes Tanya out to be "evil" even though she's not. She's extremely pragmatic and does her best to fit into whatever situation she's in, but it's not like she goes out of her way to torture others or anything actually evil like that. Half the point of the series is how her actions, which as the readers/viewers know are motivated by pragmatism and perceived expectations, can get utterly twisted and misconstrued by others due to their own internal biases. For the series to title itself "evil" in the translation is honestly just outright stupid and whoever thought that was a good translation for the title really really didn't think it through. What annoys me the most about the anime is that they go out of their way to make Tanya look evil and nasty. Even putting the rather... unique frog-eyed art style aside, Tanya has some pretty contorted faces at times. I like the anime overall, but it's pretty clear that they leaned pretty hard into not only the unfortunate art style but also into making Tanya look exaggeratedly bad (something we know is untrue by the text of the novels, especially with certain later events). I know it's based on the rough and grimy art style of the LN, but I would've much preferred if they had gone with the manga art style instead since IMO it's still basically the same look but much MUCH cleaner. Great anime though, and great story! Can't wait for Season 2! To note, the original title Youjo Senki (幼女戦記) is more literally translated as "War Records of a Little Girl." No "evil" to be sighted

Psychopathy isn't getting jollies to the suffering of others that's sadism. I'm pretty sure the amine does that not only to separate her from pervy lolis (which is fine, but not the vibe), but also because while you do have some of her inner narration, most of it is from the point of view of an outsider. It's the balance between knowing that she is a pragmatic, and seeing her unexplained actions as 'evil'
