When I stole the idol, the druids were like "it's time!" and started murdering all the tieflings (they don't leave any alive). So I killed the druids and Karlach became hostile when I met her

@@sharpasacueball Yeah, Karlach will be mad at you and blame you if Dammon dies. i had the druids "revolt" after stealing the idol, ONE person died. And it was Dammon. (and the druids ofcourse) And Karlach made it sound like i murdered everyone.

I thought I was kind of crazy to write dialogues that only 1 in 6 people see. Larian just shot past that by a *huge* margin … thank you for sharing!

The idol actually is worth stealing and keeping. It gives your party a "nature" aura that makes all party members in the aura proficient at certain nature related skill checks (Animal Handling and Nature, I belive), basically like getting two extra proficiency slots free. And unlike most magic items it doesn't need to be equipped, just having in someone's inventory will be enough.

@@rythinpain It only runs out if it is exposed to Moonlight, the same way the sussur flowers wilt if exposed to sunlight. If you place it in your camp chest (Might work for other chests, didn't check.) then it won't lose the power overnight. Also if you put the sussur flowers in a pouch or other container in your inventory you can take them to the surface.

There's a scene in the Underdark where an NPC is supposed to present an item to you. If you pickpocket the NPC he will go down a different conversation branch where he will notice the item is gone and decide to attack you. What makes this impressive is that the window to pickpocket him is tiny -- he talks to you immediately after you defeat the Spectator, and before then he will either be fighting or petrified. The only real window you have to pickpocket him is *during* the conversation.

Fun fact: if you let the kid on the beach get killed by the harpies, you can pick up his corpse and use it like a storage container for various items

The lead writer mentioned in an interview that his favourite part was writing the hidden stuff for a small audience and that he did a lot of that himself. I think there is a lot of content that will take some time to discovered by people who would also put it on youtube.

LMAO. The devs must have had a blast putting in all these little things. You can tell just from the quality that they really enjoyed and had passion for this project. It's nice to see that passion put into games. All the other major game companies complaining that BG3 set the standard for new AAA RPGs too high can get fucked. Yep! First it was Skyrim (apparently... I mean, I enjoyed it but I do feel it was potentially overhyped and over rated. I actually preferred the ME trilogy to any of the ES games), then there was the Witcher 3 (what a game it is btw!) and now, BG3!!! Great games like these are very few and far between. And still, I'm hearing murmers from Xbox fanboys that Starfield is the GOTY??? Really!? It's not even close 😮

I don't have a lot of faith but that's okay. I can probably play Baldur's Gate until Larian releases DLC or an expansion. It'll give me money to spend on more Larian swag and Forgotten Realms books. I have a 2nd Edition Volo's Guide collection that needs tending!

I did this exact thing on my run. The fun part is that if you place this idol in front of Halsin in your camp he doesn’t bat an eye, but once you touch it he and half of your followers immediately attack you :D

In my current run the Idol is bugged for me. I stole it and instantly warped away to another spot on the map. When I returned all the druids were still chanting like the idol is still there. Not only that the idol has lost it's 'stolen' flag which means I can place it and pick it up again right in front of the Druids and they don't care. It's hilarious but it means I can't cause the Druids to attack the Tieflings (I'm doing an 'that's so evil' run)

For me, I used the box method to steal it: Fog of Cloud the Idol, place a box near it, open a box, drag it in the box, take the box, teleport via waypoint and voilà! No more praying!

There's another funny one with theft. In Act III there is a shop keeper with a book you need to perform a ritual. It's possible to convince her to just help you, either pay her to do it for you or even convince her to do it in exchange for an item you can get. Here's the thing.... previously, I had robbed this shop keeper blind. So when I went later to actually do the ritual, I fully convinced her to help us for free... and then she realized the book was missing and refused to help us anymore at all. Ended up having to just murder her so I could do the ritual myself. She has some pretty tough magical guardians btw, they come out of nowhere and are a pain. I think they had a shit ton of resistances.

Lol i told her to let me in for free and she did in exchange for me nabbing a few items from where i was going; after the ensuing events, i returned, she demanded i hand the items over, so i told her i didnt have them and she started to get mad. @@MDHDH-iy7nm At that point in the game, it's truly ludicrous - pay her 20k and finish with 130k gold in your pocket, pay her 10k and finish with 140k or don't pay her and finish with 150k.

I don't remember how I originally did it (either by throwing or moving or some spell) I moved the idol away multiple times until it was out of the druid's sights, then just picked it up. Worked in Early Access, no idea of its still possible, but it was hilarious how they did not respond to it being moved away like that.

I remember there was this way to steal it by dropping a backpack on the ground, putting the idol into the backpack, then picking up the backpack and no one would be the wiser. It was in EA no idea if it works in the full version (just straight up stole it in my playthrough) but was a nice cheese lol

Currently moving the idol (or any red marked items) is a crime. What you do now is just drop darkness/fogcloud there and yoink it. Ritual has to be stopped before tho or it starts the tieflings vs druids.

@@The_Yukki Unless you find the note in Kagha's chest inside the sanctum and do the quest to investigate her shady activities outside the grove. Once you bring this evidence to light, you can either attack and kill her for what she's done (aided by the other druids), or let her live and face Halsin's judgement when he is freed from the Goblin camp. Either way the ritual stops without having to steal the idol at all.

What armor are you using for your player character and shadowheart? Are those starting armors? Some kind of mod? They look super nice.

I'm new to editing, so this video took me an unreasonable amount of time but I'm glad you like it 😊

I tried everything BUT invisibility to steal the idol, and it just straight up wouldn't let me without the druids instantly attacking the tieflings. Even after making kagha learn the error in her ways :/ Interestingly, if you finish the entire questline, and get to the part you see at the end where the tieflings are prepping to leave for baldur's gate, You can still give Mol the Idol if you haven't yet, and it goes throught the prompts. She responds and says thanks, but you get no reward, and the quest in your journal says you never gave it to her. In Act 3 when you meet her again, she still has the buff from the idol, despite "not getting it"

When I stole the idol, I had a chest set up on the stone next to its pedestal. Then I had Gale cast a cloud of fog around the area and quickly opened the chest and dragged the idol into it. You still have to convince them you didn't take it, but if you roll high enough then it works. Just make sure the fog is actually covering your party as well as the idol, otherwise they will see you take it and attack

You can do this after you stop the ritual without even touching the gobos (and halsin), I think it won't trigger any ill feeling towards the tiefling

Mol sent arabella and the harpy kid to their deaths (if you don't manage to save them). She's also probably responsible for the tensions between the druids and the tieflings (she keeps sending kids to steal things). Finally in act 3 she doesn't seem to care about the other tiefling kids. She's a villain.

Yes, they really specced out the game. But noone ever suspects you of murdering everyone when you show up, all of the army dies and suddenly a flying angle of light shows up at your door step and you can only send one Oger to defend the Tower.

@@kinkkong28Lmao endings were bland comparing to everything else. Each ending takes 5 minutes at most. If you pick options to control the Brain you only see a scene of yourself sitting on a throne and your companions are brainwashed next to you. The game is amazing. Endings were rushed.

In my game stealing the idol instantly turns the druid into genocide mode and gets them massacring the Tieflings. I stole it after the goblin invasion was done and the idol moved to their interior.

If you do the Investigate Kagha quest (before the goblins) and then steal the idol it doesn't turn the druids aggro as they're no longer performing their ritual.

I stole the Idol after i saved the Grove, to get Moles quest done. Its not guarded that heavy after the ritual is over. (move the idol just a bit in sneakmode) and steal it when guards walk off. ( they don't find it even if it was moved like 1 meter away from the spot :D .....

Invisibility potion didn't work in my play through. Druids ran over and said something like "no touching."

@@legofan4409 no problem! :) i think this set is actually in the game, but super late game. the mod is called basket of equipment (i think) and it lets you get gear early

@@_holy__ghost basket of equipment will allow you to access the equipment but no matter what equipment you grab, it's all the same stats and bonuses. It just allows you to look cool. The items I think scale and change depending on who equips them

Mol's actually the smartest in that Grove, between the Tieflings and druids alike. I mean, she's definitely the only one with a mind not only for business and skullduggery but also awareness of all factors to consider. Too bad they basically cut some content regarding her in act 3. Made her lose her complexity explored in act 2.

I don't think she was ever too complex. She always remained in safety while ordering her gang to put themselves in danger. And when danger came, she pretended that it wasn't her fault and called for outside help (Tav, Raph). It's just that as she grew in power, she cared less and less for appearances. She's like a business owner who has no issue working her employees to death but when something starts hurting the bottom line she uses her influence and faux concern to whine for government help. A true Libertarian. The Tiefling kids do need saving... saving from Mol.

@@DrZaius3141 She does her job well, appearing as someone who really cares about "her kids" but also puts them to work stealing and panhandling, and set both Arabella and you to steal the idol knowing the dangers and how the druids would react. She appears at first as a tough, rough around the edges type with a heart and tragedy. But she is ruthless, cunning and not ashamed or scared to use anyone and everyone she can. I like her a lot. She's a horrible gremlin.

Invisibility ending when you do ANYTHING is the most annoying part of the game.

Combine that with enemies just being able to detect you for free and it makes it practically useless.

It's a shame what they did to her in act 3, they turned her into a random npc.

tbh I was more upset about that tiefling kid that sells you fake magic items not making it into the city proper

I refuse to interact with those mary sues. Can't even kill them when they threaten you!

An easy way to steal the idol if you're bad at stealth: Cast Mage Hand, use fly to reach the top of the pedestal where the idol sits, throw it away with the hand towards the beach area with the bear and pick it up from there. No one will notice you've taken it and the game just moves along like normal. I did this after convincing Kagha to stop the ritual, so it's a double win basically.

This game is just contents. Full of contents everywhere. It's a new step and a new reference for the RPG

This reminds me of skyrim, I always return the dragon claw to the riverwood trader then promptly steal it again

I love the face that Shadowheart makes at 0:46 She is not amused lol.

This is the only time when you can deceive that you're not a thief when you did stolen

The amont of connected things in just the beginning of the game is so cool

That's something, i actually casted fog on it and stole it via stealth but the druids then commenced slaughtering all the tieflings in the grove.

i thought i was being smart carrying idol with me to get random charges from creating status effects, but its aura goes away if it's not in storage at night even once kek

if only they thought of that bold "spit in the face" you showed in the end.

nobody noticed it but: the oblivion music queues at 0:55 lol perfection.

There used to be, and I'm not sure if it's still in the release version, a bug where you could drag the idol into a box and it wouldn't be considered as "stolen."

First thing I tried. It got patched.

i actually managed to steal it without being caught, put all my party members far away and i sat there till i wasn't seen then took it and the moment they all stood up i used jump going towards the elevator and went up as fast as i could. Now the only reason why jump worked is because i used the green giants strength potion on my barb which put me at 27str and i leapt far enough past them from getting caught. I went and gave it to Mol and went back to see if they would question or aggro on me but nope, all was good. Nothing happened, Nothinggg

managed to do it again on another save file, i used invisibility, went into crouch. The moment i snatched the idol i used misty step to the elevator and went up as they were scrambling to the idol.

oh my god.. I just realised how much druid from my character stuck with me... I have never thought about stealing it.. I'm too nice I think...

That was a hoot. I was too scared to steal the idol though I kinda wished I did it now.

I had my invisible imo move the idol for an inch and i got attacked instantly

0:40 That druid was Auntie Ethel. Sus af.

I used fog and then just poketed the damn thing before quickly going back to camp. I then zoned back in and everything was fine.

Kind of. You can buy back the idol from Mol after giving it to her. The text about the idol being stolen activates in that case too. It is just a failsafe if you complete the quest and the idol is removed from her inventory for any reason.
