You're not wrong re Montys attitude towards Ivey. How on earth does it take Monty to realise Jaden should handle a bit more. More embarrassingly what are the assistant coaches doing?! It's very concerning.... I'd rather weaver continue to thin out roster to force Monty to play young guys!

I completely agree. Monty had summer league, pre-season, a paid staff of assistant coaches(not college grad students working for free), film, stats and it took him half a season, and the owner telling him to play Ivey, a top five pick that had a good rookie season. That just crazy.

@@scottwickett1273 I think the Pistons need a stretch 5. They shouldn't have both the starter and backup as non stretch 5. That my opinion. I think a better fit and a whole lot cheaper is Dario Saric. Also if you don't think Duren should be the starter. A better pick up in free agency is Valanciunas from the pelican. He is making 15mil this year. Offer him the 20mil you you would pay Capela. Valanciunas can stretch the floor. But I think the bulk of the cap space money should go into getting a good power forward and small forward that can shoot. That would open up the floor for Cade and Ivey. They can drive to the basket and dish out if the defense collapses on them. And we know both can take it to the basket. You have seen how Cade gets double team all the time. Ivey can get to the basket about a fast as any in the league. Duren is a lob threat. Defense is mostly coaching. Monty needs to get to coaching. Or hire a staff that can do it. I think the foundation of the team is there. They have there future back court. They have a young talented center. Ausar can be a defensive stopper of the bench, even though he isn't a good shooter. His skill can be used. Instead of taking 3s he could develop a mid range jumper. If he wide open like he is most of the time move in closer and take a mid range shot. If the defender comes out, go by him. We've seen him do it many times.

You just said he played well when he came here. Cade had a lob threat. Cade played the best after he Bagley came here. You said the team played the best basketball in two years. Now, look at the facts. Was the contract an overpay. Hell yes, it was. Was it a horrible overpay for what they thought was their starting center at the time. It's 12.5mil. Please tell me how much would have been a good salary. That same summer, they drafted Duren. No one knew how good he was going to be. Hell, some thought he might be a G league at first. Duren turns out to be good and wins the starting job. Duh Bagley's contract looks bad now. So Weaver trades Bagley a contract that no one right could be moved. For 2 2nd rd pick and save 12.5mil on next year salary cap. So which end are you criticizing, the trade to bring him here or the trade to get rid of him? Pick one. You can't have both.
