The Golden dress she worn at the Photoplay Awards in 1953 that was called "vulgar" by Mommie Dearest. Every dress what you've seen in "Gentlemen prefer Blondes" was designed and made by him as well for her.

People do now too you just don’t see what they see. Fashion isn’t a one size fits all. It’s fluid and always changing and evolving. You may not like today fashion but that doesn’t mean it’s not fashionable. It also could be your nostalgic for the past fashion and so you don’t have that connection with today’s fashion. Also most people can’t afford a dress that expensive. There’s also the idea of glamorizing the past when in reality if you were in that generation you’d say the same thing about the ones before you.

@@aishwaryarai01 you could say that the scarf around the neck was inspired by Indian design/wearable placement and i'd believe you. The rest of the dress is hardly indian inspired. This movie was produced in 1953, and the dresses will slightly pre-date the movie, so likely designed in 1951/52. Back then, old Bollywood design was so much more modest and nothing like this dress. The sari was popular, with a modest choli, or the salwar kameez. Marilyn's orange dress likely inspired future bollywood designs because Hollywood has always been so influential. We will never know for sure what inspired each piece in his collection because William died in 1990.

I can't believe they didn't even add his name... Goddamn it... His name was William Travilla. He designed Marilyn's most iconic dresses. The Pink Silk dress from "Diamonds are a girl's best friend".
