The Depths of the Biofilm

The microbes are sloppy eaters, leaving organic bits that cloud the water in the biofilm. The surface of the biofilm looks like this before the microbes clean it out. You can see tiny organic bits suspended in the water and the vague images of protists moving, floating like a curtain on top of the water.
