The Denfield Hoard - Lost First Episode
Комедия
As I finish-up a new Macintosh video, I'm releasing the "lost" first episode of The Denfield Hoard to celebrate #marchintosh
I started this series by discussing the many input devices that I found in the hoard. Originally a Patreon exclusive, it has been there for awhile, so time for a public release.

Oh hey it's that laid back Mac guy
Instant "drop everything and watch" moment.
The Orson Welles "just do anythin?" never fails to make me lol.
One day I searched for scribe65 and freaked out a little bit thinking this channel was gone. Your channel is a true golden nugget in today's KZread.

I'm avoiding Google's suggested responses to this comment: "The best!" and "They are!"
The Orson Welles "And he doesn't do anything?" always gives me a chuckle, that whole video is a classic 😆

when we needed him most…
Those 3rd party peripherals saved modular mac owners a lot of money. One of my friends special ordered a skeleton mac iisi with no keyboard, mouse, memory or hd. He then bought MacAlly keyboard a higher amount of 3rd party memory and larger HD. Even with the upgrades it was still way cheaper than the stock system.
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT YOU JUST UPLOAD TODAY??? I found your channel yesterday and love it!!

Ah, the iconic 7 ball used everywhere
Wow, what a "gold mine" stash of truly vintage Apple Computer items. My eyes lit right up when, I saw an All-in-One G3 (molar mac). If working, I would have paid lots of money, to be able to add one of these desktop systems to my collection (smile...smile).
Yeah, best KZreadr is back!
There is something luxurious about naming a product the 'Silhouette' - shame the build quality didn't quite reflect.

That's true. I saw it there when I picked the Powerbook 520's out of the hoard. I actually made a trip back to buy it because it stuck in my mind.
One of my favorite KZread channels is back! I am so happy, these videos are always a memorable delight!
RETURN OF THE KING
Who else watched all the way to the end of the outro music hoping for an Oil Museum easter egg? Great video, and a shoutout to all who still use Kensington Turbo Mouse (now Expert Mouse) trackballs today!
HES BACK! HES BAAAACK! SOUND THE VILLAGE BELLS HES BACK!
The legend has returned with another video! 🎉
Please, don't ever leave us again 😢
That was so true about the top shelf in the computer store (and that shot was so cleverly-staged). I think one of the reasons slow-moving items were put up top was to reduce sun fading of the boxes, since shops had windows back then. A LocalTalk PC Card would be really useful to me about now, but sadly, an 8-bit ISA version wouldn’t fit any PC made since about 1995. I can see why they didn’t go anywhere if they weren’t sold by then
OMG I had a Silhouette. I used it with my Mac IIsi. I loved it. For years I kept the balls, but at some point they and I parted ways. I still miss them.

I remember it being a big deal in the early 90s when application memory requirements were surging, and upgrades expensive. For reliability, virtual memory was commonly applied, on Macs that could use it, but it slowed everything down of course :)
What a great surprise!
Apple Extended Keyboard II is my favorite

Thanks! And I agree about the computer stores! Those clips took me back, too.
I have had great success with retr0briting those white iMac / Power Mac G4 keyboards, using the clear hydrogen peroxide 'salon care' liquid. Restored several last year including one that looked just like yours (yellowed all over) and it came out great, although disassembling them fully to isolate the back plate is kind of a pain. Still bright white about 6mos later.
@65scribe

Good to know that peroxide has an effect and worth the effort of disassembling. Thanks!
the 7 ball is truly iconic
Just in time!
Ok, those trackball "balls" are pool balls...also, welcome back!
WELL ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME YOU RELEASED A NEW VIDEO!!!
6:19. I'd guess the yellow and green balls are cosmetical replacement options for the default white whereas the red and purple are true different weight options. I'm not sure how different the purple one would feel compared to the red one being only 10 grams apart, though.
Yay! First free day in a while after hard work and watching your new video is the first thing I'll be doing right now!

You, ah, kinda helped me figure out after all these decades why they had a trackball for Missile Command. (Not my best game though. Mine was always Galaga.) BTW I bought a couple of the modern Kensington trackballs. Expert Mouse they call it. I think the older ones had more heft, more momentum. Anyways, thanks for another great video!!!!

Marchintosh isn't Marchintosh without a 65scribe video.
Great video! I use two Apple Extended Keyboards daily, and I just adore the thing. I have a few AEK2's as well, but its keys feel very mushy compared to the AEK1's crisp click. It got retrobrighted it a while ago using hydrogen peroxide cream that you can buy at any hairdressers' wholesale store and a ton of cleanfilm. I practised on something broken, and the process isn't difficult at all. I didn't bother about removing/covering the Apple logo and it wasn't affected as far as I can see, though.
@65scribe
3 ай бұрын
That’s great you still use them! I had done a lot of retrobrighting 10-15 years ago and did notice certain colours of the Apple logo got washed out after treatment. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
@bomcabedal
3 ай бұрын
@@65scribe It probably depends on the materials you use, but also the quality of the paint used for the logo. I noticed that even before retrobrighting the logo of one AEK2 (made in Malaysia IIRC) was quite washed out while another from the same year (but produced in Ireland) was fine.
Ah the blue and white G3. Bought one brand new.
