The Deflector Has Been Missing From The Solo Stove All Along

Solo Stoves, especially the larger ones, have needed this product from the beginning. The Deflector works great to distribute the heat out from the Solo Stove instead of just up. BTW - Solo Stove has a free taller leg upgrade...you just have to contact them and get on the list.

What makes these smokeless firepit strong is also what makes it weak. Having walls block heat from spreading sideways and just going straight up. But having those walls also is how you get that 2nd nice burn. So they make this deflector for the heat to radiate towards you. The problem now is it takes away from seeing the flames therapeutically speaking. So you just have to choose what your willing to put up with. I feel like they need to make higher legs on deflector. Im sure that’s how they’ll milk the next deflector

Great introduction to the heat deflector. Having the extra heat redirected at your knees is a huge bonus for getting one of these for sure, even with the log size/poking at the fire drawbacks. Does it affect the smokeless aspect of the stove? There seems to be some extra smoke but maybe that's just because it's a smaller fire in the demo than the size of stove is designed to burn effectively.

The problem with these videos is that most of them are done when I first start the fire. There is always a little smoke at the beginning until the fire gets going good. Thanks for the comment!

I imagine this helps with any softwood sparks - agreed a hook to grab with a tool would be helpful. Also the gap could be bigger like you mentioned for feeding wood.

For portability it has less of a profile so ot shouldn't be a problem considering it's thin enough to fit anywhere

BUT - it is much larger around than the Solo Stove it goes with so it will not fit - for example...in the Ranger bag - or with the cover on the Yukon.

why did you buy the deflector for the ranger? you have so many reasons not to, did you think it through?

Because I wanted it and could afford it - also I like to sit next to our firepit and feel the heat and this works perfectly. Could I have made something for a lot cheaper? - Sure....but did not want to. So yes I did think it through and bought it. Thanks for the question/comment and for watching!!!

Yep...they are not smoke free...they are smoke less...and depending on the wood you use, the fire starter and how hot the fire is determines the amount of smoke. Once you get the fire nice and hot the secondary burn kicks in.

If referring to Breeo, I have both Breeo and Solo. Both are great, and for different applications. The Breeo is built like a tank, stays in a stationary spot outside 24/7 in rain, snow and whatever else. Is awesome to cook on. Solo is far more portable and can be taken on the road, around the yard, wherever. I don't find the solo to be as nice to look at and it is definitely not as well built as the Breeo, though that's more a reflection of the insanely high quality of the Breeo as opposed to any real shortcomings of the Solo. I have not noticed a material difference in how they burn or heat output.

It's a shame Solo Stove's work around for the heat to spread is something which ruins the look of the fire pit itself. They should just make versions of these firepits which aren't as tall as a work around in stead of making you sell a kidney for this oversized baked bean lid.
