Although, an addition is that I wish the Miis had something else. Kirby vs Miis kind of works but I feel the Miis if they had their own classic route should have their rival be a "shadow" or "dark" version of themself since that's a fairly basic idea and would work well with Miis as the player's original character. I picture something along the lines of the Master Core Shadow Fighter from Smash 4's Classic Mode

It'd be fun but they were kinda forced, I'd prefer they'd be less like PAS and more like third strike: short and sweet.

Ike vs. Sephiroth is a surprisingly fantastic matchup. Ike is the closest thing to Cloud that Sephiroth has besides the man himself while Ike's final opponent is very much like Jenova.

This just makes me want to play the Radiant FE games now...I must know what nightmare god Ike gets to battle at his story's end

The only thing I change is move robin vs shulk, heroes who defied a preordained fate as a vessel for an evil god; lucina vs. Young link, heroes who traveled through time to stop a future of ruin (although they traveled in opposite directions.); and marth vs hero, two legendary figures who games would help define two genres of the rpg, tactical vs turn-based and even their universes both are remembered long after their death(this one in particular is one that just feels right to me). Other than those, I loved the pairings you came up with and would love to see an idea like this implemented in an actual smash game. I feel that lacks any interactions between the different universe. Good Job

@@stareanddream Yeah I agree. It would've gotten a bit formulaic if we got Wario Vs Dedede, Sora Vs Pit, and Mewtwo beating the ever-loving heck out of an Shadow assist trophy in addition to the other three DB matchups. I think this was a healthy balance!

I actually was like “wait I’m pretty sure we never saw Wii Fit Trainer…” but I couldn’t figure out who else we were missing. Wario is perfect though XD

Another thing that links Joker and Bayo as rivals is their use of otherworldly beings as their trump cards, with both having an arsenal of demons. Joker would ultimately win though because he can summon Satan himself Edit: Also a harder sell on Marth v Young Link is a meta reason, but Young Link represents Link from the Melee/64 era. When Marth was developed he was made to be an opposite type of swordfighter to Link at that time.

Great video and great concept. I also think it would've been cool to reference characters who were rivals in subspace emissary, like Dedede and Bowser, or Marth and Meta Knight

Absolutely bless you for talking about PSABR. I miss playing that game so much. I remember everyone was like "oh great it's a Sony smash bros" as it was getting developed and then went "wow this sucks its not like smash bros" There are so many new Sony characters they could add to the roster by now too. I think a better Kirby Vs Mii justification would be Kirby can take on the appearance and powers of anyone, and so can the Miis. But I'm just saying. I think Kirby vs Pac-Man and Mega Man Vs Samus could've worked too. Great video though.

I would have put Meta Knight vs Sephiroth. Meta Knight is a small but powerful warrior, with an intense code of chivalry and self improvement though practice and training, constantly looking for stronger targets. Sephiroth is a domineering sword fighter who makes use of backstabbing and picking off weaker targets, who if I understand correctly was made to be that powerful in a lab. A perfect foil.

Another thought: Luigi vs Ridley. The Luigi’s mansion games are all about Luigi, a normally timid individual, facing his fears to save his friends and family. Ridley, meanwhile, is the most visually terrifying character on the roster, who is known to target friends and families to make people suffer.

Sir Daniel Fortesque vs. Colonel Mael Radec. Both are commanding soldiers who are also dead. SCE Cambridge made the MediEvil games and helped with the development of Killzone 2.

I thought you were gonna mention the "other" reason to matchup DK with ROB. That other reason being they both SPEEEN!

Most of these work, but there are a couple that I think might have a better fit. Sephiroth Mewtwo: I don't know FF7 very well, but iirc wasn't Sephiroth genetically modified as part of SOLDIER? And even more so as part of some experiment? Well, that fits pretty well with Mewtwo being created as the ultimate pokemon. Ryu Metaknight: I might be mistaken, but iirc Metaknight is constantly trying to find a worthy challenge, to the point where he always gives you the sword power up before boss fights? That's Ryu's whole thing. Pacman Game and watch: The two already have a joking hinted one from pacman's reveal trailer. Two of the OGs, iconic in their sprite forms. It fits well enough, and opens up Megaman for Megaman R.O.B.: There's not much to this one besides them both being robots, but it feels way more fitting than DK ROB. Roy Young link: Both young boys thrust into a position to fight long before they should have been. Both came into their own as heroes. Heck, Roy's title is literally "Young Lion" Lucina Sheik: Similar reasons for this one as Roy YL. Either swap could work, but both might be a bit much unless it was pushing for doubles.
