The Death of the Dinosaurs: 27 Years Later

Rich Muller, a Berkeley Lab physicist, discusses Nobel laureate Luis Alvarez and colleagues' 1979 discovery that an asteroid impact killed the dinosaurs. He also discusses what scientists have learned in the subsequent 27 years. Alvarez's team detected unusual amounts of iridium in sedimentary layers. They attributed the excess iridium to an impact from a large asteroid. Series: "Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Summer Lecture Series" [10/2006] [Science] [Show ID: 11829]

So often attempts at humor are cringy on such presentations but this guy is naturally genuinely entertaining. Tho I was familiar with most of this material the details of uncovering this fantastic story are highly compelling.

Thanks for uploading this program. I had saved it on my DVR back in 08 and used to watch it all the time. It got erased and I have been waiting for it to re-aired on TV. Now I don't have to wait any longer. Thanks

A wonderful presentation, putting enormous emphasis on catastrophic scene caused lively. This is as usual when it comes to mass extinction is dealt with. Then, wonder, or miracle, which is haunting me is how reduced numbers of survivors weathered such a harsh condition & regained their lives to evolve again?!

Huge electrical events with supersonic red hot winds and vortex would have done severe damage to anyone who was around at the time. The comets would have supplied the energy required and if you look at Mars then you can see the catastrophic events electricity can cause instantly.

we believed in Religion longer than we believed in Dinosaurs, due to that we only recently found out about Dinosaurs (prospectively speaking), but now we debunk Christianity and follow science. Mainly due to boredom of the first story. I wonder what happens when we bore of the dinosaur theories... ...

have you seen the crystal caves in mexico? it takes 10's of thousands of years for crystals to get that big.... time to open your eyes and walk away from the indoctrination you've been taught to believe by others. try reading older scripture than the corrupted bible, like the Gospel of Thomas, or the Sophia of Christ, these and many more are in the Nag Hammadi texts, on line.... and were probably the original versions of modern scripture..... and Christ himself teaches the truth about the universe, and our world. :) check it out... with an open mind.
