MAME is an arcade emulator, the arcade original is the ACTUAL game. The Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for the PS2, Gamecube, X-Box, and PC were pretty much the closest, could count the DS version as well as the PSP Namco Battle Museum's version. Hamster early on, with their Oretachi Geason series on PS2 seemingly used MAME for the emulated arcade games in the series, some say Taito did as well for their Legends series in the west, and Memories series for the PS2 in Japan. Namco however, more than likely wrote their own emulators for their Namco Museum 50th Anniversary series, while the PS1 Namco Museum series were all ports, Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man look odd on the early Namco Museum series.

In the Sharp X68000 and NEC PC-9801 versions, the seem to use the Super Pac-Man wilting away sound.

What I find interesting is the death animation in some of the lower-quality home versions actually has more frames than the original arcade version does.

The Atari 2600 Pac-Man death and Donkey Kong barrel jump are two of the most recognizable sound effects used in movies and TV.

There is specifically one version that I have not seen since 200I, I still can't put my finger on which build it is because I don't know the console: In this specific version, when you get a Game Over, you are immediately warped to a very lively Graveyard during the day, with the Leaderboards showing on Pacman's Tombstone that comes in the form of a Panel with Greek Columns that has either a Cream~coloured or Yellow Tint that rises out of the Grass while very somber music plays throughout; this might've been one of the game's many Unofficial 0I6 Bit Ports during the '90s, as I clearly remember its higher palette and FM Audio; every program that I have looked up that features many of the official and Third Party ports doesn't have this specific build, wishfully somebody knows what I am talking about because this has been messing with me ever since I was exposed to that version and I would love to see it get archived if it still has yet to by this point.

What I was remembering just so happened to be one of the incredibly older builds of Deluxe Pacman, produced by Edgar M. Vigdal originally for the Amiga back in I994; I only ever played this particular entry once, yet its Visual Approach, Audio Direction, and especially the High Score/Leaderboard music ("The Pestilence", originally released in October of I990 and used for a few Intro Screens in the Amiga Crack scene; the artist is known as Kristian, the song seems to be based on a Church Hymn) delivered more than enough of an impact that it has been forever etched into my brain for all of these years and likely fueled my later love for the Amiga as the years progressed, it's as if I knew its presence and impact would prove essential many decades later (and I was only a little above the age of 05, when I first played this!). Below is a Gameplay Sampler with the now~scrapped Pacman Grave (shown at 07'09) and also Neil Roy's upload of the Leaderboard track; I'm really happy that I found this, yet another major part of my early memories brought back to life and now it'll be a permanent fixture once again. The arcade version is a winner - i still have that on my PlayStation 2 in a compilation called NAMCO MUSEUM. The Commodore 64 version is absolutely a legendary classic 😺👍🕹️. The Sharp X68000 version is amazing 😺👍🕹️. The 8-bit Atari version looks retrospectively awesome 😺👍🕹️. The Atari 5200 version looks great 😺👍🕹️. And the ColecoVision version looks retrospectively perfect 😺👍🕹️.
