The Death of Offline Bots - Why Are they No Longer in Console Games?

In the PS2 era, playing games offline with bots was the norm. After all, online multiplayer was still in its infancy. While bots remained an option into the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, they faded out quickly by the Xbox One and PS4.
While offline bots remain on a number of great shooters for the PC, on the console side, the options are slim on modern consoles.
One of my favorite games to play with offline bots? Section 8 Prejudice on the Xbox 360. This Halo clone was released for only $15 back in the day and had offline bots available for true multiplayer simulation modes.

I've been making videos on this channel since 2013. A lot has changed since then, but today I make videos for the same reason someone may keep a diary.

OFFLINE BOTS FOREVER!
offline bots are great, still quite a few AAA games with them, Gears of War, Call of Duty and Halo Infinite all support offline bots. Indie games too like Hypercharge and Screencheat.

it would be sick if we got an extraction shooter on pc and console that you can play with offline bots like tarkov.

Definitely Black Ops 2 because you get the bots for offline multiplayer as well as zombies. And it's backwards compatible with Xbox one

@@nicolofurlan2278Mostly every cod game since Black Ops 1 (minus original MW3, unless you count survival).
I much rather bots because I can play how I like and there are no sweats it’s a more fun experience

Not to mention that with bots you can always get a full game when not a lot of people are online
Star Wars Battlefront 2 has offline solo and split screen
1. Subscriptions are annoying and I want to be able to play a game years into the future without fears of servers going down making it obsolete 2. Wifi connectivity in my specific area and my friends has been Hell for the last 10 yrs and will likely continue for years & years to come sadly. 3. It gives us extra time to practice and get our skills up without waiting on long loading times to get into a full lobby of ALL pros or ALL noobs. Bots stay consistent with the skill level you choose. This is why I believe offline bots are a needed thing for not just modern games but, all games. No I do not believe people shouldn’t buy only offline but, I think it would benefit everyone with a choice to choose AI or online. All I want is the choice.
call of duty modern warfare 2019 is so much more fun with bots in my opinion
Verdun and Tannenberg are both on PC and Console! It's a WW1 shooter that has offline leveling and bot play. Console has 16v16 bots while PC has 32v32 bots. They are extremely fun and you should check them out!!

@@hr0727 I'd argue that Isonzo is the better of the three but the other two are amazing as well.
If they added an offline mode to dmz and warzone 2 and mw2 invasion amd ground war it would literally make it the best cod ever idk how this is hard to get across lets forget about sweaty 6v6…. bots were the foundation of gaming back in the 360 days i wish the cod devs would open their eyes and do that i feel like most developers are playing dumb at this point
Battlefield 2042 took things even further with ai bots because in the portal mode you can have 128 bots in a match
While it's not offline, Naraka: Bladepoint has competitive & intelligent bots and is practically the best offer in the BR genre. Escape from Tarkov is another one that has offline progression w/ bots if you're open to using mods. I've been hearing good things about the bots there.
I can't believe section 8 prejudice was mentioned! Absolutely loved that game,
Regardless of what people are saying, Section 8: Prejudice is not a clone of Halo. It is similar, but has drastically different playstyle
AI is becoming more prevalent there ought to AI driven bots/NPCs soon. I recon "AI Engines" will be more important than graphics engines in the future for game developers making it easier for them to "apply" more sophisticated AI bots to their games and can work offline.
Ravenfield has offline bots and great modding support
Same with life bar in FPS,the last i remember is Dead Space that is in the back of the character
Section 8 is fun, bots allowing max 16vs16 but will work only on 32 bit OS only 😅😅😅

On pc it's 32v32.
Last console game with bots offline multiplayer is i think Killzone 3 or Shadow Fall
