I was on the fence with this knife and decided to pass on it. Kinda glad I did, didn't realize the pivot moved with the blade. I have a hard enough time making sure my fingers are in the right position when opening, don't want to think about when closing as long as they are not in the path of the blade.

Great review brotha! So as a ridgeback owner I can say that this knife has a bit of a learning curve, it's entirely too easy to put your finger on the pivot while deploying, that's what causes it to feel like it's moving in mud, but if you remember that while deploying or unlocking amd move your fingers out of the way it becomes super enjoyable. I think dead reckon deserves a ton of credit for trying new things and this being their first self branded knife I'm interested to see what they do next

You’re totally right, I realized that the other day. I couldn’t figure out why sometimes if closed smoothly and other times it didn’t. It was my finger on the pivot

Easily my favorite folder with tye wharncleaver blade, I even enjoy the quirks like rotating pivot. As a fan of tough, nearly overbuilt knives I have to say that this thin and slicy meta is disappointing.

I have had better results once the button is engaged, taking my finger completely off the button. The blade hole is perfect for using my index finger for reverse flicks. First button lock I would consider capable for hard use.

Good candidate for a compound tanto version or a gradual grind like on a McNees. I am increasingly turned off by ultra thick grinds when there's better and more useable solutions to get strength without sacrificing slicing.

I have the Wharncliffe version, which isn't quite as thick as the sheepsfoot. Mine measures about 36 thou with a 17 dps edge bevel. Still way too thick, IMO. It is a weird knife. It's basically made by folks who aren't knife guys (they're gun guys I think), so it has some novel features that are cool, and other features that are kind of reinventing the wheel ... incorrectly. All in all, I like it much more than I should. lol

I think the evolution of knife reviews will be comparing knives to yoyos and fidget spinners and then the best knife out of them will be the most fun to fidget with. a good yoyo is a better knife than most knives I would say because at least you can do tricks like walk the dog!

I don't know if you're aware but just a heads up if you ever decide to try to take that knife apart it will void your warranty.. I had a buddy take one apart to anodize the scales and destroyed the bearings and what not trying to get it apart had to send it back they charged to get it fixed.. rightfully so but just a lil heads up
