My favourite Flash growing up has always been Wally West and when the DCU begins to take shape, i would be in favour of casting an unknown actor in the role to fully start things fresh. I never cared for Ezra Miller even before his troubles began, Grant Gustin will always be the definitive Barry Allen but i'm more than ready to see someone new in the spotlight and Wally West is the perfect guy going forward. I am interested to see what happens in the aftermath of the reboot.

@@Haiden.Ambrose Barry canonically was the flash before Wally in that universe he was in the canon comics and was going to appear in the show and what JLU did only worked due to them keeping Wally far less developed than every other character on the show and they were only able to do that because it’s a team up show so Wally wasn’t the main focus. Taking the JLU approach would me no solo movies for Wally, limited rolls in team up movies to prevent heavy character development and erasing his time has kid flash, his idolisation of Barry and his reaction to Barry’s death and legacy which are all MASSIVE parts of who Wally is. If we don’t see him as kid flash, see Barry, learn why Wally idolises him so much and see Barry’s death then we 1. Have 0 reason to care and 2. The Wally we get will just be a poorly done husk if the loved character

@@markjohnstone413 What both JL and JLU did didn't work at all and that is a flaw that both those shows have. What those shows did was a huge mistake, but those shows are still good though.

I think it’s way less impactful having Wally as the flash if we don’t literally see Barry die and his progression from Kid Flash. I’m saying do it. He’s my favourite too, but I don’t want him to be Barry Allen re skinned. Ngl your pitch is amazing though..

They need to just recast Barry. Wally’s entire origin heavily features Barry and there is just way too much there to only reference it there in a few lines and some flashbacks. We need to actually see it. If they just jump to Wally we’ll just get some husk of a character with the name Wally West slapped on. I think most people who are saying ‘Just use Wally’ are letting their love for the character and desire to see him in live action get in the way of thinking about the story of the character and getting it right. I don’t want some empty husk called Wally. I want Wally. The only way to do that is to get Barry right first

I’m mixed on these thoughts. I would like to see Wally. However, I’d rather they build to him. We get a new Flash actor as Barry, do a few movies with them, introduce Wally, and then have him take over the mantle in their phase 2/3.

I’m ready to see Redhead Wally West as The Flash again, he’s the one I grew up with. They can bring Barry back for his standalone movies (maybe even to team up from time to time)!

I think we should introduce an older Barry and Wally in a film and Barry Allen would either die at the end of that film or a first Justice League film so Wally West would have to learn what he couldn't with Barry. Reverse Flash is the main villain. I think 'The Flash Forever' is a cool name that also kinda fits this story

Who is the definitive version of The Flash? Why is this even a question? It's clearly Wally West. During the Pre-Crisis era, Barry was so boring people stopped buying his comics, so DC killed him and replaced him with Wally. Wally's time as the Flash is when the character became popular and people started to love it. The Flash Family, The Rogues, The Speed Force, time travel (without cosmic treadmill), infinite mass punch, speed stealing, Flash being funny and a bit immature at first. All of these come from Wally. The most important things about Flash come from Wally, and as I said, the character became popular because of Wally. Without him, The Flash could've been a forgotten character or remained dead forever. And there are stories like Human Race, The Return of Barry Allen, The Rogue, Terminal Velocity, etc. What does Barry have? Flash Rebirth and Flashpoint? "Without Barry, Wally wouldn't have existed. " Without Wally the Flash as we know it today wouldn't have existed Just because Barry stole some traits of Wally's personality and powers (especially in New 52 and some adaptations) doesn't mean Barry is better than Wally or that he's the definitive Flash

For a lot of the general audience Barry Allen is the definitive and most recognizable Flash especially younger fans and I love Wally but his backstory entirely depends on Barry's time as The Flash and Wally did take a couple of Barry's traits and vice versa.

For me I’m more invested in the Barry Allen because of his rivalry with Reverse Flash. I’m sorry but when I think of Reverse Flash I think of Barry Allen’s Flash. I’m not saying you can’t have Wally but you can’t just ignore Barry and pretend he doesn’t exist, because it’s the same way people complain about Miles Morales being spider-man with Peter around yet no one complains about Wally replacing Barry

I respectfully disagree very much. Barry Allen is THE Flash & nobody else. Jay Garrick is the JSA Version of the Flash from Earth 2, but Barry Allen defined the Flash as we know the character with the creation of the Speedforce. Though he is the 2nd Version of the Character in comic canon, he is the real origin of the Flash character as we now know & love him.

After binge-watching the JL animated series & watching TroyoBoyo17's Flash Prewrite video, I've come to grow a liking to Wally over Barry. Mainly because he has so much potential, and his DC Rebirth design is FUCKING AWESOME & I NEED to see that suit in a movie!

What you just said about legacy and time going on. Is exactly why I gave this video a like and why I'm staying subscribed forever. 💯 most people just don't seem to understand that. That's why I was a fan a young justice the earlier seasons were superior obviously. And why I wished shows like avengers earth's mightiest heroes would have continued. It's marvel I know but still. I definitely like how btas universe transitioned through time to the batman beyond Era. I always read comics that progress through time. Typically not the main continuity timeliness. They repeat over and over again with either rehashed stories. Or ridiculous ones

I'm kind of mixed with the suits. I kind of want Wally's Rebirth Suit to be the final definitive version of his own suit. Showing, that he's no longer living in his mentors shadow, and showing that he's become the fastest Flash out of all The Flash's while showing off that white lightning with a tint of cyan in it, showing he has the strongest connection to the speed force despite his mentor being the person that generates the speed force.

It'd be cool to show that Barry and Wally are able to use the Speed Force in different ways. Maybe Barry is the only one able to use it to time travel, whilst Wally can use it to generate physical matter like lightning or his Flash suit. It would help to show how these are two different characters, whilst also going toward developing Wally's sense of self.

I like your idea at the end where Wally starts with the yellow suit and then switches to Barry’s suit, with Barry coming back and taking his mantle and suit back and then Wally adopting a new suit (the red Rebirth one). And the Barry coming back can have a new actor playing him. I think that’s how they should do the movie.

I want Barry to have a successful adaptation before Wally. It would be interesting to have Wally become the flash after being Kid Flash. The death of Barry Allen would be an insanely awesome story to adapt to the big screen. The example that comes to mind is how Sam Wilson is in the process of replacing Steve Rogers as Captain America. Except that Wally is one of the most interesting comic characters of all time while Sam Wilson is not (And I don't trust Marvel that much anymore, but I think the Sam Wilson cap movie could be pretty good). If the DCU does turn out well then having Wally West grow on people is the move instead of just replacing Barry when he's known by most people as the quintessential Flash.

There is no need to go the Wally/Jay/Wallace/Bart route, or to focus on any speedster besides Barry. Barry should be their primary Flash in the DCU. If they’re going to build up Wally (we know Dick is going to exist) then as a Titan his presence would be great. But not as THE Flash. Imo.

My problem with this is that Dick is likely already Nightwing by the time the universe starts. Dick and Wally are close friends in the Comics and I feel like that needs to carry over to the DCU.

@@yeetboi5478 I would also like both Flashes to appear in the DCU, it's just gonna be really hard to work out the timeline of that to keep the relationships intact. Wally West still being Kid Flash as an adult doesn't really make sense, the Arrowverse was weird with that and Young Justice made a remark about that exact thing. Wally West also being The Flash alongside Barry feels clunky to me, it felt that way during Rebirth but less so because Wally WAS The Flash before Flashpoint so it makes sense that he would continue to be the Flash after he's saved by Barry remembering him. The best idea I've seen comes from Earth-27 where Wally becomes Impulse as an adult since that name isn't necessarily a name only a kid character could have. In the Earth-27, it basically goes Barry is the Flash, Wally is Impulse, Bart is Kid Flash bit one day Wally will be The Flash and Bart will be Impulse with whoever is next being Kid Flash. I think this could work but I feel it would still feel off. I think the way to fix this is to remember that the DCU is going to be more than movies and the non-film or live action show stuff doesn't necessarily NEED to be in the same time as release. So, we could get canon animated content in the DCU that could be prequels and we could see Barry's journey in maybe a mini-series or an animated short but I'm just spitballing at this point.

I hope really hope Wally starts to get the respect he deserves. James has said the dcu will take inspiration from the dcau so hopefully he’ll go with Wally in the dcu. Barry Allen is kind of boring tbh and he’s shown time and time again to not work to well with audiences. The cw show started out hood but it’s gone down hill completely. He’s comics since he came back haven’t reached the heights of Wally’s run, and the only reason people are excited for his movie is because of the Batman who are in it.

Flashpoint and Flash rebirth is to dc what OMD is to Marvel. Barry Allen was a great comic book character without the traditional tragic backstory. Having the tragic backstory made the Barry Allen Character feel less likable and more close to Batman in terms of trauma in childhood. There was a reason why Barry was different from Bruce, but now Dc screwed that up for the worse. Wally West flash is the complete opposite of it all as long as dc editorial is not messing things up. Still, Wally had the wife, the kids, the respect that Barry should have had if not for his death. Nowadays, it is debatable given that Dc is slowly letting Barry get remarried again.

I say either 1 they should just have the new universe where Barry wakes up played by grant gustin 2 option 1 but grant Barry Allen is in the background and Wally is the main flash but we still have grant Edit: and grant could be a mentor to Wally 3 just have Wally. 4 new Barry Allen that’s not grant, if they do this I want whoever plays him to not be like grant at all and be completely set apart otherwise it’ll feel like a rip off

DCU should recast Ezra with a comic accurate actor, not Grant Gustin. He’s been the Flash for almost a decade, and looks NOTHING like the character. Just because you don’t know any actors doesn’t mean he has to be the flash AGAIN for the DCU.

James Gunn, Peter Safran, and the people working on this new DCU are just going to have Wally West get a superhero codename of his own.

Barry should get a new name as well. "Flash" belongs to Jay Garrick, he was first so the name is his property that Barry stole.

Ezra should be replaced with Grant Gustin.

What he means by Barry had his chance is that Barry was literally the main Flash of almost every adaptation of the character in past 2 decades. Let someone else be the Flash for a change, especially since almost every adaptation of Barry is literally just taking Wally's entire personality

I have to disagree with you, you can't just introduce Wally West without a legacy to replace, the character of Wally West is who he is by replacing the person he replaced and his path in surpassing that person.

He became Kid Flash because he was struck by the same type of lightning that struck Barry. Wally did it on purpose. He was a Flash fanboy and wanted to have the same powers. If you mean how he became Flash. Barry Allen died in Crisis On Infinite Earths, and Wally became his successor. Read Flash Vol. 2 (1987-2009). Some of the most important, most popular, and the best things about The Flas (in general, not just Wally) originate in this volume.

Let me set the record straight. Barry Allen is just the younger version of myself. Wally West is the current version of myself. The story in general involves many characters where a lot of them are representing me. I'm sorry that I'm so late to the show but I didn't even know that I was the Flash until I met the real life Iris. Then it helped me remember the other timeline future where I will be known as the Flash. My higher self (future self) contacted me to show me that I was the Flash which is the main first time that I realized that I was the real life Flash. After that, I went down that "rabbit hole" and the more I do that, the more connections are adding up. I found out who the other major superheroes really are. With great power comes great responsibility. Therefore, I will make the right decisions. I will respect their directions and will not reveal who they are. The only exception is if they publicly promote themselves as the superhero that they are. Then I will support them and tell people that they're who they say they are. Until then, it could be only me for a while as I pave the way to show how it's done. Also, Most of us get our powers from a positive energy solar event in late 2030. Some of us like me are so powerful that we have DNA activated abilities right now. Instead of entering the "speed force", my body physically vibrates when enemies are thinking about me or when I choose to mentally activate it.

Anthony star would make a great Eobard Thawn, maybe a good Barry Allen aswell

Why can’t we just have two flashes co-exist. Barry and Wally’s dynamic is very slept on and it’s very similar to Bruce and Grayson. Besides they’re both the flash right now in the comics, so why not just have two?

The answer to that question is extremely obvious, but I'll answer it. The reason we can't just have two flashes co-exist is, because it's incredibly dumb and it doesn't make any bloody sense. The idea of superheroes sharing a mantle is super stupid and it doesn't any bloody sense, it's also extremely lazy and extremely unnecessary, it's super bankrupt, it's terrible writing, and it's in fact one of the worst writings of all time. It wouldn't make any logical sense for the both of them to share the mantle. And it's also super unnecessary. The people that work on The Flash comics are unfortunately trying to pull this lazy, bankrupt nonsense off in The Flash comics and they've unfortunately tried to pull it off in the past too, but they've failed miserably and are failing miserably right now and will continue to fail miserably at trying to pull this stupid idea off, because it's simply a dumb idea and it's extremely mind baffling that they are trying to pull it off, because of how dumb it is and the fact that they are trying to pull it off is extremely dumb. If the people that work on the MCU tried to pull stupid thing off, they would fail miserably, simply because it's extremely stupid, it's extremely unnecessary, and it doesn't make any bloody sense. Ultimate Spiderman has it's problems, but at least it didn't make the same stupid mistake with Spiderman and Miles Morales. Tell me this, why is Wally West still The Flash, despite the fact that Barry Allen is back and does it make any logical sense? I think we shouldn’t forget abt Barry in fact he should be the main flash(for a while, maybe 2 or 3 phases, most likely 2) and then have him build up Wally west who will take the mantle and replace Barry’s spot in the justice league. Barry will still be present and he’ll even cameo and have a role to play in the universe, but we’ll be following along through the eyes of Wally west and his character. But I just don’t think we should push Barry Allen to the background too soon, or forget about him to make room for Wally west.

It would be very cool if Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) dies at the end of the Flash movie resetting the universe with Wally West as the new Flash in the DCU

It just depends where they leave the Flash in the Flash movie. If Barry ends up dying at the end of the movie to save the timelines then I could see Wally just being the Flash of the new DCU and acknowledge the existence of Barry and his death. If Barry doesn't die he should be the Flash the next movie should be him taking on Wally as a pupil setting up for the replacement. Wally does deserve mainstream recognition as the Flash but let Barry have a good big screen run first imo.

Miles Brown as Wally West or Timotee Chalamet as Wally West

I think we will see Barry Allen again but he'll be more comic accurate however we will see Wally but however he'll be starting as Kid Flash instead and be a Founding member of the DCU Teen Titans with Robin, Wonder Girl, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire wile Barry will be the Justice League Flash

Sooooooo what I'm hearing is that I truly am the perfect casting for Wally West!

I feel like Barry Allen has been used in film and tv shows to much I have the same issue with peter parker where you tell the same story with different actors and have other characters like miles and wally with new and fresh takes to the characters is the way to go

I personally would want it to start off with Kid Flash (Wally West) and The Flash (Barry Allen) showing up as those two in chapter 1 and 2, then in chapter 3 or 4 (depending on how long or short chapters are) a dramatic event kills barry and we actually see Wally grow from Kid Flash to The Flash over the course of the DCU maybe making Wally's Flash movie a sequel to a previous Barry Allen DCU movie (not the ezra miller one)

Should've just named the movie "The Flash : Born To Run" Imo

The flash on the dcu should be split into two trilogy’s one being about Barry and Wally can have some appearances and become kid flash in the 2nd and 3rd movie and also be apart of the teen titans then by the 2nd or 3rd justice league movie Barry sacrifices his life leading into the 2nd flash trilogy where Wally will take up his mantle and maybe do Barry’s rebirth at the end of Wally’s trilogy I just think to make Wally u need to do Barry first bc with out him there would be no Wally and I think it would be more impactful to see Barry’s death on the big screen then just bogusly start off with Wally
