The day when AYRTON SENNA RACED in a Porsche 956 - 1000km Nurburgring 1984 (Senna's tribute)

May 1st 2024 is a very special day in the motorsports because it completes exactly 30 years we lost Ayrton Senna, victim of a fatal accident at the Tamburello curve in the 7th lap of the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
Ayrton Senna is considered for most people as the greatest F1 driver in all the time.
Senna is a F1 3 time champion and won 41 races.
But did you know that Ayrton Senna compete once in the Group C at the Porsche 956?
Yes guys, this happened in 1984 at the 1000km of Nurburgring in the Joest Racing alongside Stefan Johansson and Henri Pescarolo.

    Senna garnered 65 pole positions at a time when there was way more patity amongst the teams. Throughout his career, there may have been 4 or 5 teams with cars fast enough to be on pole. Rest in peace, Ayrton Senna da Silva!!

    He did NOT lose control of his car. The steering column broke disconnecting the front wheels from his steering wheel which you can see on the on board of the crash. You can see his hands, the steering wheel, and the front left wheel, and it is clear that his hands and steering wheel went to full lock but the front wheel stayed straight!! This was proven in Italian court but it was too late.
