Because he was incredibly inconsistent all his career, on a good day he could defeat anyone (ask Nadal) but he generally wasn't that good. And people tend to forget that he (just like Kyrgios) had an amazing serve and that was a huge part in his surprise victories. The flashy points are great but generally the player lose as much as gain with those type of points

Because once his opponent figure him out he does not stand much of a chance, that toppled with injuries is why he's not done too great. His career win/loss ratio is somewhere around 0.4.

He plays very low percentage tennis, he goes for return winners which look good on highlights, but when he misses that is not shown. Basically he is a grass court player, meaning he mostly wins he's points by serving. When he plays on clay or hard courts he gets beat by low ranked players.

His Wimbledon appearances were also very entertaining! Met him once at a german Bundesliga Game were a lot of old ATP Players play on a chilled proffesional level after their ATP Career. Very down to earth and cool guy. I guess that having fun is his primarily motivation, thats one of the reason i never got that succesful.

I wonder about the extent to which other pros could play this style. He's got an easy service action, probably hard to imitate, and good hands, again that is hard to imitate - but the gamestyle of just going for it is probably something most/all pros could do if they chose to do so. Would be interesting to see.

Dustin Brown only has one good shot in his game, his serve. The rest of his game is very inconsistent. You should see his matches against Marcos Bagdathis, he is 0-5 against him. In those matches you can see the real weaknesses in his game.

@@daisymariapilar6780 I don’t think he was a very consistent player in his quality but there’s no doubt that his ceiling was well above where his ranking normally floated. His touch/volleys are also amazing.

  • @daisymariapilar6780

@@corfu_fruit_man2676 He has 99 losses in his atp career. If we were to watch all of those losses, some of which are pretty bad, then it would become clear that his ranking is accurate. People like to show videos over and over of a few matches where he actually won, his volleys actually landed in, but on the average his volleying is average. When players can return his serve like in this match kzread.info/dash/bejne/hIWFlrKlgsaYkbg.html against David Ferrer, you actually see his volleying ability. He is 0-5 against David Ferrer too.

Every tennis player worth his or her salt knows that for one match, one tournament they too experienced a GOAT like feeling in their demographic, if only briefly. However, to truly be the GOAT of anything is about consistency and not a one off. Viva Roger, Rafa, Novak and many others.

Dustin Brown exhibits extreme talent (when he's on), and can be alot of fun to watch. But he's FAR, FAR from a "GOAT". Let's not for one moment detract from the TRUE "Real GOATS" of tennis. Being a GOAT is much more than flashing some super shots in a match, or even playing a match full-bore.
