I believe another factor could’ve played into consideration when Deegan signed with Ford. At the time when she signed on with them in 2020 IIRC, they had a pipeline development system across all three series, whereas Toyota was struggling with said system, particularly in the Cup Series as they lost Furniture Row Racing and Levine Family Racing in the span of two years thanks to not only the renewal costs and loss of sponsorship on the former, but the COVID pandemic on the latter. Once 23XI and eventually Legacy Motor Club joined the TRD family, they regained that driver development system when you look at Corey Heim being hired as the relief driver for both 23XI and Legacy. Ford is now going through what Toyota went through to an extent with the shutdown of SHR, but keep in mind both their Xfinity and Cup teams are being rebranded to just Hass Factory Team for 2025. If the theory of the equipment being poor is proven correct, then Logano’s input could hypothetically help Deegan and the team improve in performance. Also, now with FRM expanding to a 3-car team, Ford will now have some breathing room for driver development for the time being unless if eventually, RFK can also get their hands on a third charter to expand as well. I apologize for the tangent essay, but I figured I’d at least give my two cents on the subject here too.

The problem with Ford's development isn't their Cup seats, it's the severe lack of investment in the lower series. They have single digit numbers of cars in both series

Its to big for her. Hailie does not have the skill set to drive the car. Hailie has not passed enough cars in all her races to say she has the driving skills to do it. Hailie does not qualify well. Does not drive well. I would say she drives more like a person off the street would. Fast enough to be in the back. Its not the car or ford. Its her skill set.

Very, very few drivers win. All of the races are won by the same handfull of drivers and teams. The rest just fill out the field for entertainment. She meets that requirement the same as the other racers that finish outside the top 5.

Moobs isnt wrong, but id also argue that she was doomed the day nascar decided to make her the Lady Flavor of the month and strap a rocket to her...she belonged in Arca or K&N for another 5 years...she should not have sniffed the top 3 till she was at least 25 or 30...instead nascar saw a new "girl power" opportunity like so many before (*cough* the danica) and decided to spotlight her wayyyyyyyyyyyy to soon due to a win where, lets be honest, she dumped a teammate to win...they didnt let her grow naturally and now shes fucked for it...they need to keep their hands of Toni Bredenger

I was saying the same thing when they put her in a truck by the end of her 1st ARCA season. I was really hoping they wouldn't try and push her up to fast. Obviously she can drive a race car, nobody is gonna some stupid fkng chud drive a quarter million dollar, 200 mph race car. But like you said she's been racing 4-5 years above her abilities ever since they put her on asphalt.

Moobs we need more real NASCAR breakdowns like this. Awesome stuff. Get you on that podcast with Eric and Iceberg and them.

I would think that Toyota saw what we are seeing. She won some races in the ARCA series. But she wasn’t ready for the bigger series and needed more time working on her skills. Ford probably offered her more money and a ride thinking the gamble to sign Deegan would payoff. And it’s blown up in fords face.

This 100%. Ford just looks for the PR cash grab. Prime example i always point out is Ken Block. He was 15th out of 20 in WRC. Ford dropped the program and he gets famous for making Gymkana videos where you can clearly see it took him a dozen takes or more to film a scene. Now look at Pastranas Gymkana videos and he maby has 2 or 3 sets of tire marks many with non meaning he hit the scene first try.

Michael, you make some solid points maybe the transition from Toyota to Ford is the reason why her career is going the way it was intended to.

For the record. Larson has shown improvement in EVERYTHING he has ever strapped into. And done things very few have ever done. At 16, he was competing with the much older and much more experienced Swindells. The point is this... you either got it, or you don't. Put KL and HD in matching lawnmowers, and I know who will win that race.

Replacing her at a road course will show anything about the car or driver. That makes no sense in all this.

I agree with your thoughts. She went down an increasingly uncompetitive road with Ford. I was impressed with her ability in SRX, esp on dirt tracks. I hope she can hit a reset button and figure out where she can best run competitively, in NASCAR or otherwise.

K&N West series, not ARCA. She had some success there by intentionally wrecking other drivers for her own gain. The last straw was when she intentionally wrecked her own teammate, Derek Krause, to get the win for herself. Toyota dropped her from their racing program soon afterwards. Daddy Deegan begged Ford Motorsports to give her a 2nd chance opportunity. She's botched that too.

Her name is the only reason she made it that far FACTS!!!!

When did it start ?

Joey spoke on Jr's podcast a few days ago about when they called and asked him to drive the 15 this weekend. They said, "We have this seat in the #15 that seems like it's gonna open up..." That's not the wording they'd use to ask him to evaluate anything. She's out. The team got top 10's before her and thanks to Joey they got another one today without her. It's not a Ford issue.

So, its all Ford's fault? After she got fired from Toyota?????? Get a grip. Brett Moffitt finished 4th in Chicago, with no sponsors, and no SHR support so Logano as a very good shot at winning.

According to Nascar Heat going from trucks to xfinity is like a promotion, what she really do in trucks over anyone else to get put into xfinity?

After last week's win they put Lagano in when the fans went crazy about cheating involved which there was none to be had. They inspect them after every win anyway.

Thor sport did give her Ben Rhodes' crew chief for the regular season last year and several times her team got her in the top 10 on the last restart and she never closed it out. I don't believe she's aggressive enough.

I think she would be an excellent pit reporter or in the booth broadcasting. It would fit her skill set perfectly due to her social media presence.

While Haiden and Hudson are flourishing in success, Hailie is being sent to wrong teams. The Deegan family is known for dirt racing (Stadium trucks, Motocross, etc.) Hailie has proved that she is amazing at dirt racing. I think the NASCAR path was the wrong way. She would’ve been an amazing full time Dirt Late Model Racer. Even going into stadium trucks and monster jam. The Deegans show amazing skill in dirt, and Hailie made a bad decision.

First time I have seen a reasonable analysis of her career so far. No hate, no bias (except towards Ford) lol

Looks and pool floaties can only get you so far

There are literally only 5 (semi)competitve Ford teams in the lower divisions: Rette-Jones Racing in ARCA, ThorSport in Trucks, RSS Racing, SHR and AM Racing in Xfinity. That's it.

Why are you people just outright lying? How is Front Row Motorsports not a top team in trucks? You don’t think if Zane Smith was still driving that truck that they wouldn’t be a contender for the championship?

"THIS IS ENTIRELY HAILIE DEEGANS FAULT." So typical to place blame on either the pit crew or the equipment rather than the drivers inadequacies. Just because she went from Toyota Ford is NO excuse for her to come in dead last 90% of the time. If this was a male driver, the number 15 seat would have been vacant a long time ago. This is just another example of a DEI failure.

If she would have been as dedicated to racing as much as gaining new subscribers, she might have improved as a driver. She just fell into racing as Danica was going out of racing so people wanted to see a female do well in NASCAR. Sadly she wasn't even as good as Danica and that's a pretty low bar when it comes to racing.

Maybe daddy can buy her another career in some other field.

With a car that continuously runs 2 seconds slower than the pack, and 18 second pit stops, and a bad crew chief, is it any wonder. Those circumstances will wear on any drivers confidence. It's a team sport.

It’s her. It has always been her. Her NASCAR career has come to a merciful end.

There was too many, too much competition in Toyota Diversity program and she wasn't going to get an immediate ride nor with Chevrolet. The best option for her which her father and connections especially with Monster, worked out a deal with Ford. This was her best option. She admitted she didn't earn her way into NASCAR trucks but was given the opportunity and took it. NASCAR also saw this as an opportunity to cash in on Hailie virtually being the top young female prospect especially with her large, young fan base.

I simply think her talents are not enough for the national series. Everyone has a limit and I think hers was ARCA where she was pretty decent. I think she's been propelled upwards and onwards by marketing people using the fact she's a woman. On the flip side, it would be interesting (but I think we'll never get it) to see her in a good truck team to see how she does.

It would have helped Hailie Deegan and AM Racing if they could have been a two-car team with Brett Moffitt in the 25 and Deegan in the 15. I think this was the plan initially, but the sponsorship for a second car didn't materialize. Brett Moffitt had a respectable season in the 25 finishing 15th in the points. Deegan would have benefitted from Moffitt's knowledge in a second AM Racing car.

Toyota's development system was shit back in 2020. The second level Cup teams kept shutting down because they kept pricing them out of the sport. Also the Virus hit and forced Nascar to stop giving an actual practice to the teams which they still dont, 15 minutes is not a actual practice. Its not surprising that Deegan left Toyota, because remember Toyota's approach to development was the mentality of a Cat. She honestly should've switched to Chevy

I always questioned her decision to switch to ford but at the time Toyota had limited amount of cup seats, I don’t think anyone really thought we’d see more Toyota cup seats. I will say it’s a bit odd the team would want to test out the equipment on a street course that they ran once prior in rain over a short track or 1.5 mile track.

They are not saying it out loud yet, but, I believe she is done. You don't bring in a Cup Regular to jump in on a Road Course to tell you if it is the car or the Driver. You do that on an oval. Kenny Wallace believes she is finished! She came up too early without any races in the lower Series. There is no room in Xfinity right now in Toyota or Chevy.

You're just making excuses for her.

She is officially out. However; Nascar's big DEI program push will save her from being completely out and she will find another car to drive. What you said about equipment could apply to any of the lower tier drivers in Nascar. Ford would not sponsor her and give her crappy equipment to drive. She also; had top notch equipment in ARCO and the truck series with basically the same results.

She is a horrible driver. Experiment over.

I think there are 3 major reasons why she is failing. First Being moved up the series too fast. She should have been in Arca for at least another season probably 2, She got moved up to trucks too soon and is paying for it now. Second, her motivation is not there, I know this one can be subjective, I am not close with her so I don't know just how many hours she is putting in the SIMs. But you can tell her drive was far higher when she was still in K&N. This could be in part because she is a woman in NASCAR so her Achievements had less weight to allow her to move up. So the challenge wasn't there. It could be her boyfriend soon to be husband(if the wedding hasn't happened yet) which I can almost guarantee if you watch her progress it took a nose dive after dating Chase. Or just in general the hate she started getting in Trucks took away her motivation in general. (not an excuse but could be a factor) Finally, not really being solid. The first 2 can play a role in this. But her success came from super short tracks which are very few and far between in NASCAR. So what she was good at really isn't prevalent in higher series in NASCAR. So she needed to start adapting and she just hasn't proven to be good at doing that. Also to mention the aspect of Toyota and Ford, I don't know if Ford offered to move her up and she took it or what happened there, But fully agree, should have stayed with Toyota. Spend a few extra years in the lower series then start moving up.

Seems like Toyota might have wanted to stay in the lower level longer, which absolutely was the right call but she wanted to jump to trucks. It's clear she doesn't take feedback from anyone other than her family and fiance. That's her biggest issue with not improving.

Didn't Hailie start at Thorsport who was with Toyota at the time & she single handedly made them a Ford team? She wasn't successful with Thorsport with either manufacturer. Her going to trucks period spelled doom for her. ThorSport guinea pigged everyone except Rhodes. DGR/Tricon hates female racers period (Look what they did with Decker beforehand). AM Racing is not top tier. Deegan was doomed from the start. She should've stayed in off-road trucks.
