The Dartmoor Way: Day 1, Buckfast to Haytor
Join me and my friend Sonja as we explore The Dartmoor Way, a 109 + 23 mile walking trail around Dartmoor National Park in Devon.
This walk was filmed on March 16th 2024, and we walked 11 miles from Buckfast to Haytor.

It’s great 😊
You two are so adorable! Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful path.
Great Day 1, thanks! On to Day 2 : )
I've recently finished the Dartmoor Way. It's a good pub crawl in fairness. I did Haytor down to Ashburton at dusk and our plan was to get off the moors before it got dark. We failed miserably but on those road sections we saw so much wildlife at that time of day. Deers, barn owls and foxes. It probably ended up being one of my favourite sections. The less said about the bit between Buckfastleigh and Ashburton the better
Really loved these Dartmoor videos! Seeing Sonja in the wild was an extra bonus 😅 But also they really capture the mood of the area - so lush!
Sheep as welcome greeter ✅ This is so cinematic and delightful. You've picked the best partner, toooo! 🎉 I'm completely inspired.
Really enjoyable thank you both 🌿
Hi from Hobbiton NZ. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. You’ve inspired me to go walking in the rain more often.
Oh how wonderful! We've moved to Devon finally, to hubby's home town of Torquay, and the moors is one of our favourite places to be. We regularly go to Haytor and now little legs is getting bigger he can come on yomping adventures with us! I'm very excited to sit and watch this with some stitching. Funnily enough I took a friend to Haytor just the week before you were there! Small world! xx
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So nice of you to include us! Thank u
Loved this, beautiful photography. Felt as though I was with you in Devon. I know N. Devon well but have never been to Dartmoor.
Bless you for this wonderful walk .l wish l was 60 years younger then l would do this . Good luck
Great walk! I loved all the flora❤️
I really enjoyed the walk in spite of the mist! I bet it smelt lovely in the woods. However it definitely added to the mystery of seeing Haytor appearing at the end! Looking forward to the next part now
Oh the mosses and lichens are gorgeous. Makes me want to return to the family area and do this walk. A long trip from Australia 😊 But worth it.
Wow, those fungi are amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed this video.
So beautiful loved watching.

Loved watching this 😊😊😊
So enjoyed your walk. I can feel it and the sounds and smells!!!❤️
I would also be the girl who brings the crisps but not the compass 😊
We have a saying here on Dartmoor …. If you can’t see Haytor it’s raining ~ if you can see it, it soon will be !! 15000 above sea level.
I miss your little dog, but it was too far for him I suppose? Lovely scenery. xxx
Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the rest of the journeys. I'd be interested in finding out what kind of kit/equipment you decide to hike with also.
Great video! I have been looking at maps of England and have been admiring all the walking trails throughout the counties. It is amazing. I would like to walk some of these trails in the future, probably in June when I have time off work. Are there places to stay along the way on these trails? Are there wild animals (pigs, etc) that you have to be on the lookout for? Any recommendations for hiking in your neck of the woods would be great! Thank you for sharing this experience!
