I also have one running. It''s a Fast Guard, been Running Stable for a year and this is a Valid reaction.
Unfortunately, participating in something like this is not an option for the millions of people living where greedy companies like Comcast have a regional monopoly and set limits on monthly home broadband data. I never thought home broadband would have data limits, but I am also not a greedy jerk.

Never ran an exit node. One of my pi was set up years ago, and to this day, I would use a proxy setting on the web browser on one of the lan nodes to connect thru the pi to go to tor. Now you can just install the tor browser. Thanks for showing people how to set up tor nodes.

Using TOR or running a node/relay is not the same as using the dark web. I use TOR when I want to visit regular sites, but I don't necessarily want to share the information my regular browser provides. For example, links from potential scammers or geo-blocked links.

As i understand it, theres the regular internet, with google and such, and the uncensored internet, with onion sites and such. If you know where youre going in the latter you can get anywhere. But its more obscure and therefore "darker". @VinceAggrippino yes, obviously, but the point of the video, and the reason why "The Dark Web needs you!" is because there are a lot of Whistleblowers, Journalists, and People in Countries that are being censured by their governments that depend on using the Dark Web to get information out into the world... so every Relay is needed to help with this.

I got brought into a company as a consultant, sat at my new desk and what should I find under the keyboard but a postit with the login AND password on it from the previous occupant. I was already buddies with the security admin who sat across the walkway from me so I handed it to him to secure the account. Than I went back and cleaned up the works space and found 2 more from different people, one at the bottom of a drawer and the other under the monitor. Ridiculous to be seeing that in 2017.
Thank you so much ❤

Please please please do a video on docker containers and port forwarding on a raspberry pi or old laptop. Docker networking especially for this would be great, and maybe a cronjob to launch on boot so the pi can just be plugged in without a display and just run and update on schedule. Please and thank you! Tor is so important for journalistic integrity and human rights protestors / reporters.

@@DroisKargva I know some bridges include some cloud servers from oracle. But you don't really want that because simply said a company like oracle. Will straight up hand over the data to GOV's that ask for it. So if you, or someone else has a target on there back. They can just ask the companies for all data that went trough the node. If a node is for example run in Germany, swis, denmark. Whatever privately. Those Gov's can ask you for the data (they most likely won't to begin with), but the person who set up the node can just simply decline. Because the Gov has no legal right to take it in those countries.

Is there some way to deploy this via docker? I found a 4 year old image with relay and nyx, but it's deprecated, and dont get eny updates. Docker makes it so much easier to install. Also would't be snowflake pretty much the same?

Currently at 20:00 (20 minutes) the contact you wanted to be unknown is legible aka uncensured. I zhink you might want to change that. As far as i'm aware, this is possible in the youtube editor. This way you don't need to do a ReUpload
Good video.
This guide fails on both Ubuntu 22.04.3 and Linux Mint 21.2 fresh installs to a mini PC. Both reach unmet dependencies trying to install tor, and fail with "impossible situation" errors. Tor won't install. The key in Debian 12 isn't available, so that fails too. Furthermore, the Tor project pages encourage BSD usage for network diversity, but the links to the pages with instructions on how to set them up are blank! Iff Tor wants people to join in, they need to put in some more work, perhaps just cracking the whip on package maintainers in each distribution. Or someone needs to come out with a pre-configured ISO with proper repositories, ready for use after slight tweaks for preferences.
One of the rare times that I enjoyed the sponsor segment.
is it alright if i downloded the TOR from chrome before doing the other steps? i had to ask this because I basically didn't understand anything you did in the first 4 steps(up to which I've watched so far)
I would like to address one mistake here @networkchuck made in this tutorial. This is for beginners who i am assuming, going to follow this tutorial step by step as it is. While mentioning the distro version or its codename, do it carefully. As per this video, he mistakenly used "bookworm" as codename here on ubuntu 23.04. "Bookworm" is codename of Debian 12 & and the correct codename for ubuntu 23.04 is "Lunar" (I don't know how he missed paying attention to this even after running apt update command couple of times, "lunar" flashed on screen multiple times. Still somewhere "bookworm" struck in his mind. Throughout the video). Try to avoid this mistake which may lead you to a broken installation .
