The Dark Truth Of WWE Divas

Ойын-сауық

For years, World Wrestling Entertainment didn’t have a lot of respect for its female wrestlers, opting instead to pander to its male audience by putting the women in skimpy clothing. Things are getting better these days, as women’s events are now put on equal footing with men’s, and the moniker of “diva” for female wrestlers was officially dropped in 2016, although the term is still used informally. Sadly, that doesn’t erase the difficult experiences a lot of women have had with the sport over the years, so let’s take a look at the dark truth about some of the most famous WWE Divas.

    There has already been an explanation as to why Chyna is not in the Hall of Fame.She is absolutely, 100% deserving to go into the Hall of Fame, but Triple H said he didn't want young children to Google her name and find the explicit videos she starred in after WWE. Which doesn't make sense whatsoever, as various female wrestlers past and present have explicit photos and videos all over the internet, it's just some petty bullshit excuse they've came up with which makes the most sense advertisement wise.

    Imagine being big and strong and working your dream job at the number 1 wrestling promotion in the world during the number 1 era (Attitude era) yet still feeling like a small midget and insecure because you got cheated on by the bosses daughter of your dream job. You may be more strong and bigger, but you arent more powerful because you got cheated on by a billionaire women that you cannot compete with. You watch as your ex becomes a long reigning champion and dominates his era, main events all these wrestlemanias and even becomes COO and future owner of the company with 3 kids while you lose your dream job in 2001, your future husband, your income lowers, people forget who you were and all that attention of being a 9th wonder of the world goes away. You deal with losing fame, fortune, being cheated on and seeing HHH succeed and being powerless against Stephanie McMahon. I think that's what really drove her into drugs and drinking.... She never got over that pain and it led to her death.

    at a house show years ago, sherri was ringside watching shawn take on stone cold. as the matched progressed a child with down syndrome was walking around crying loudly, sherri and shawn both quickly ran to that child,stopping the match, sherri held him, while the shawn called for security to find his parents. this was a very touching situation. but of course, the social media doesn't take this into consideration. we always as a society focus on the negatives, and never the positives. sherri and shawn could have easily let that child be attended to by security, but instead they both did the right thing.

  • @PeanutBuddaPie

    @PeanutBuddaPie

    6 жыл бұрын

    Other than the mass pimping, I think one of the biggest crimes against wrestling is how she basically stopped the womens "revolution" in the 80s. The things the women today get could have been achieved in the 80s when Cyndi Lauper came in to manage Wendi Richter. They got so big that Vince decided to find heels for her to face. He found a woman named Mad Maxine. She was basically Charlotte Flair with a Mad Max gimmick. MTV liked it so much they pitched doing something with all three women. Maxine was included in promos for the WWE cartoon, ice cream bars, doll prototypes, and she even worked dark matches. But Moolah told Vince she was too green. Vince allows Moolah to train her and the next thing you know Moolah replaced Maxine in just about everything and the Wrestlemania spot went to Moolah and her much older friend. Same thing happened with the Jumping Bomb Angels.

    I read about the original screwjob this morning with Wendi Richter, and all I can say is that I could fully understand Richter continuing to legitimately beat moolah after the bell rang for that. Sounded like moolah deserved every strike.

    You left out a very important piece of information pertaining to Chyna which led her to turn to drugs/alcohol and adult film. Triple H cheated on her with Stephanie McMahon and broke up with her leaving her devastated. WWE blacklisted her after everything she had done for the company. It wasn't an easy journey for Chyna. She left the US and went to Japan in hopes of a new beginning. She taught English to Japanese students. She really tried to turn her life around but sadly she passed away too soon. WWE should have done the honorable thing and induct her into the Hall of Fame while she was still alive. Who knows that could have been the closure that she really needed.

Interesting enough, later that day, Snickers released their statement and then WWE did too. Not saying that I helped, but well...

    I'm not even far into the video and I've already noticed some incorrect things. Divas didn't become a term of them until the late 90s. When Madusa was the champion in the early 90s, they were women wrestlers as well. This isn't anything new. The WWF has a long history of having women wrestling as a selling point on their card without the sex appeal. This was only about 10 or so years between the late 90s and early 2000s

    actually. Chyna's fall from grace had more to do with backstage politics... she did have poor self esteem and drug problems before WWF but the wrestling helped her stay clean. Apparently to some wrestling fans, he downward decline happened after HHH and her had a falling out, HHH started to day Stephine McMahon, several months later she was canned, even then she was in a great angle with the late Eddie Guerrero, she even tried her hands in new New Japan Pro Wrestling. When we saw bras and panties, Women of Japan were inventing movies like the Jackhammer, Package Powerdriver, Death Valley Driver/Bomb, Burning Hammer, Gutwrench Power Bomb, The Northern Lights Bomb, Vertebreaker, Straight Jacket Suplex, The Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex, Tiger Driver.

    Well isn't this a bias video! Where is Lita and her antics with Matt Hardy, or Melina and Batista's affair, Debra and Stone Cold divorce over domestic violence, the list can go. Seems like someone picked which Divas they didn't like and feature them instead.

  • @60wwediva

    @60wwediva

    very true. I think either she was too lazy to do further research or she just went with what she thought was more mainstream mess and narrowed it down. She should have included that cause with Melina the wwe did an angle where she was managing MNM and was going to have a quickie bang with batista in exchange for them to not fight him later that night on smackdown. Later Batista tells her the match is still on but thanks for the warm up. He basically used her for sex and played her although she was hoeing herself out to begin with. That's a messy angle that should have been included. Also LOL what Asuka did in japan days is no different then Melina posing naked with the tag titles back in the day. She never mentioned that Candice Michelle (old fave of mine) Did tons of porn lesbian porn and other porn. She left out so much. She also left out that the divas were not discouraged from dating the same man in the company. A lot of divas been on Cena, CM punk & Randy D before. especially CM punk. he had maria, kelly, either beth or lita (I think it was Beth) then dated AJ. They certainly don't believe in sloppy 2nds or 3rds although AJ fits him well. Cena been through them all. He broke up Mickie & Kenny dykstra as well. She left out so much.

    mandy entrance is different. Nikii's is different. the iconics are wwe game gold entrance. um that's it. They don't have unique entrances anymore. Naomi has the most unique one but it blinds me eyes and it's too much. they took away titantrons and I feel that killed it for the womens divison. each divas and male superstar had their own video package with clips of them and what not. I think Eva Marie is the last of diva era passing superstar (by that I mean she could pass for divas era worker) and that sucks. thats how you know wwe is doing bad when they cut pyro and video packages. Bayley has a unique entrance but it's so childish and shows they only care about kdis money. Bobby Roode needs pyro. Jeff needs Pyro. Finn Balor needs it. So many stars entrances are boring now.

    Yea, the women based on "match quality" is doing well. WWE ratings have never been lower. Their income has dropped significantly and they still have not put on a 5-star match. Despite your feminist cheers, it is not working out for the company. And they are still pushing women who cannot wrestle. Most cannot unless they are Japanese and the WWE fucks the few women who can wrestle over like Asuka on a weekly basis. This whole company is trash. Very few people are into women's matches. And by "match quality," that just means more flips. None of them outside Japan can perform a basic lock or hold. If they were pushing the right women, mainly Japanese, then it would make sense. Fact- No American woman has ever wrestled a 5-star match. until we see a five star match, they have no business in the main event unless they draw money, which they do not.

The era was going to a healthy medium around 2009-2012 then it tanked. They were still glamorous, sexy, while getting more ring oriented and everything then it tanked when reality tv came and Linda made Vince turn WWE PG. The divas were not the best because of the culture and the fact that they were not allowed to be, at least the ones who were passionate about it.

    *CHERRYGIRL1700* LMFAO it's sexist? of course it had sexism issues but today's division is no better. It's promoting bullying more despite anti bullying campagin and it takes personal lives of the women to mock them with right in their own faces. If you like say had an eating disorder in real life or going through a divorce something private best believe another woman will use it against you. It wasn't that personal back then during divas era. The storylines were silly at times but some of them were good and didn't need to hit below the belt to be "compelling" plus they are characterized today so much that it's rudlclious. Maryse needs to teach these girls how to act flawlessly and be sexy. She was THE diva in the end.
