Unless you have actual Narcissistic personality disorder, there's no cure for that and it doesn't go away. It could be detrimental for someone to believe that a person with the disorder can change. They have less grey matter in the insular cortex region of the brain - some interesting studies on the subject

snowd5154 Those who adapt and survive life’s experiences do so with hard work, dedication, positive mind set, and so on. People have their own motivation and beliefs based on morals and ethics. Adapting to life’s problems and changes is about who someone is at their core, good or bad each person has to live with their choices. Those who are motivated by harming others to get ahead, the callousness to use, manipulate and deceive others aren’t survivors.

Depends on his personality, morals, and what he has to gain from hurting you in any way tbh. If things are going well there's no reason to seriously put the relationship in jeopardy. If y'all break up, you still may also be okay, depending on if the cost of doing anything drastic far outweighs any benefit of doing so. (No point in resorting to physical violence or extreme blackmail when that can easily ruin his reputation, for example.) Even if he has those tendencies, it's not as if they cannot be controlled. You should judge his other behaviors to see if it is an actual cause for concern. Also, talk to him.

I scored horribly high in narcissism and machiavellianism, moderate in psychopathy. I knew ever since a child that I had these traits, with some of them learned and others developed from circumstance of survival. They would work for me and terribly against my conscience. I just never knew my inclination had names until reaching Uni. Even after getting a therapist, I still struggle with not exploiting a "great opportunity". It's like having an itch you can't scratch. My advice to anyone is to channel that energy into productive endeavors like a career or games. Keep your mind busy... "An idle mind is the devil's playground."

I can't believe a "Psychology" channel just said "not very OCD" and referred to OCD as how it is often portrayed in media instead of what it actually is as described by the DSM-V. If any of you want to know what OCD really is please look it up online in the DSM-V, or even better read about Pure-O (obsessional) OCD which is completely different from the public portrayal of OCD rather than believe this pseudo-psychology.

Feedback on the test: It might be good for ppl have doubts w/ the test result to check these personality attributes with active situational games. Because sometimes we think what we "wanna be" and not what we are. In situational games we focus on the game and not what we want to be and we can open up more with our real personalities and left the "acting" or the "wanna be" part of ourself behind.

Well I don't know you, so I could be way off, but based on those results I'm guessing you have a hard time relating to normal people (what with the 96% openness) and so you may need to seek out certain communities of like-minded people. Based on your Agreeableness you may also want to look into assertiveness training if you feel like you're giving more than you get from relationships. With your low Conscientiousness & high Machiavellianism, I think you should be very careful about keeping your word and sticking to the rules or you may end up hurting people quite badly (even if it wasn't your intention). In the long run, it's usually better to be direct and honest about problems instead of trying to tolerate issues or using deceptive means to circumvent people.

Don't take any advice from this person or buy any products until you've checked his credentials. My ex, who I believe is a narcissist, scored high on the dark triad test and seemed very proud about it. She later discarded me and showed no interest in my situation and struggles at all (i.e. having to move countries just to have somewhere to stay, she was only interested in her situation, hounded me to leave until I did, completely self absorbed), didn't care how I saw her after almost four years together (she hooked up with a random guy two days after, and planned to meet with her new supply just two days after that, and she'd been "emotionally" - if she is capable of that, cheating on me for months) and overnight I became a nobody to her. I could write books about her toxicity, in fact I just might. So yeah in my experience the dark triad test is definitely something to take seriously. Oh, and she admitted to me that she had "narcissistic tendencies", "feels almost no empathy" and once started crying and confessed that she tortured a cat at some point. And she cheated on me. And she was constantly toxic and thought she was superior to everybody. Man I can't believe I stayed for so long. Love surely makes you blind sometimes. Also, narcissism is almost exclusively due to childhood trauma of different kinds as per studies. While we don't know the exact cause for it, it appears to be a jumble of psychological mechanisms that we all have and not just people who are genetically predisposed. I.e. my ex claimed all of her exes and parental figures have been abusive and she was, supposedly, subjected to all kinds of shit. If even half of it is true I can see how it would mess a person up. I still feel like it was all somehow my fault, that I must be crazy because surely no one can act the way she did? Well, did the test: Psychopathy: 0% Machiavellianism: 11% - this is surprising, but also probably a consequence of living with a narcissist for almost four years. Narcissism: 3%

I am an ENTP / A, but an ENFJ here and 99% percentile neuroticism, when I'm usually 6 - 12%. Judging by the differences in our results... It looks like the test falsely gives a J instead of a P, and an F instead of a T. Given my neuroticism on this test, I think they have erroneously done something similar with the neuroticism score, too.

TEST HAS A MALFUNCTION: no, seriously. There is something wrong with the OCEAN part of the the test. Nothing else. 2 friends and I have taken it over and over, and the Neuroticism part is definitely backwards. If you answer that you are easily upset, worry a great deal, are not relaxed etc etc, then you get a score like: Neuroticism 2.1 16% You are emotionally stable But if you answer that you are not easily upset, do not worry and that you are calm, you get: Neuroticism 4.8 97% You are prone to mental illness Perhaps this is because that category was once called "stability" where more was stable and less was neurotic? Anyhow, if you answer honestly ( with the exception of answering the mood and worry questions exactly opposite of your actual answer) the results will match a normal OCEAN/Big 5 test. Hope that makes sense? Hope it can be fixed.

I scored above 90% on machiavellianism. The problem is. I’m a really bad manipulator in action. The only way I used this trait is to make people do what I want in small things. Like making someone hurry up by offering to help earlier but saying that later I’ll be busy so they take up the offer. but I planned to help out anyway cause they don’t put in as much effort in making the food taste as best as possible as I do for example.

Psychopathy can be exhibited in anyone. Just like with anything else there’s no 100% assurance that OCD people won’t have it. While you may not have tendencies of Psychopathy you can still score high just based on personal biases and it being a self done test. Just like Machiavellians can show consciousness yet it will likely be as a result of the action being self serving in some way.

  • @crappyaccount

Tbh it can make you a bad person depending on your morals/boundaries, how often you use people, to what extent, and how badly you hurt others in the process. Just having a sense of right and wrong is meaningless as pretty much everyone thinks _some_ things are too far.

What if someone actually knows that can be very dangerous ? I am aware of myself and of my dark traits. Ok, I don't know my "scores", or whatsoever, but I do know I'm capable of things most people aren't. For example, if someone tries to violate me, he'll regret it to the maximum. I'll beat the poop out of him. Does this make me bad or something ? Do i really need to change ? Why ? I mean, of course I'd love to be a bit happier, or at least not tired, sad and angry, but that's about changing my environment, not myself. What I get is that people are scared of "dark". But, as I understand it "dark" doesn't necessarily mean "bad" nor "evil". I can have all of my dark traits and still be a nice person just because i choose so. I can be emo, goth, etc, and still have dreams and hopes, because I want to. It's all about self-awareness and conscious choices.
