Why the discrimination calling the practice _circumcision_ when it comes to boys but mutilation when it comes to girls? What about the devastating effects of ritual penectomy aka male circumcision? What about the ethical aspect of it? That's a pretty clear indication of cultural bias.

Excellent point... I don't really see any reason for it since hygiene isn't a good excuse.

For every girl that is a victim of FGM, it reduces or eliminates entirely her ability to have sexual pleaseure . These mutilations are often done by ordinary people with no medical licence just “ experience” and done under unsanitary conditions . The girls are not given any kind of pain relief. And in some countries they are not even given stitches, they have their legs tied together to squeeze the cut parts together to heal and they have to stay witch their legs tied together for days so the would can heal. It’s not uncommon for the girls to bleed to death , either when the mutilation is first done, or when the male , on the wedding night, cuts the women’s mutilated body part open so he can have sex with this open wound. There are several levels of severity of FGM, you can Google them and there are illustrations . Warning! It’s something that once you see , you can’t unsee it. FGM causes life long major health issues , including infections and fistulas .There are NO benifits to FGM, no medical reason to do this. This is to deprive women of the ability to have sexual pleasure and to control women . What’s tragic is that women do this . Women having had this done to themselves, and suffered lifelong medical and psychological problems and pain, and incontinence then perpetrate this barbaric practice against their daughters, granddaughters and female relatives. If women refused to do this to yheir female children, then the practice would not be done as frequently as it is done now or it wouid die out entirely. There are some women who have had this mutilation done to them, and they are now protesting against it, advocating for this practice to be made illegal. And to pass laws to prevent immigrants from taking their children out side western countries , back to their home countries to have this done…..And to prosecute those that do take their girls out of the Western country to have FGM done to,them. It is illegal in most western countries but it happens. There’s an underground black market in this practice in western countries, their patrons are the immigrants for whom this is a normal practice. The girls who have had FGM often drop, out of school and are married very young, they have lifelong medical problems and psychological problems , including high infertility and maternal and infant complications and mortality rates. These girls even die from complications of this mutilation and the resulting infections and fistulas. What these women go through when they have sex and give birth is beyond words to describe how horrible it is.

Male circumcision is cutting skin. FGM is cutting the clitoris. A male can go through GM if you cut the head/gland off. That is the difference

You don't understand what female mutilation entails right ?? How many women die from it.. how many can't manage to have babies that survive .. how many can never experience a orgasm.. In the more severe cases everything is removed.. clitoris. Inner and outer lips.. and they also close the vaginal opening .. Now tell us that compares to a male circumcision..

@@DogeMcLovinactually, in most places where it's practiced like this ..hygiene is a huge issue. Because of water availability.. And so is aids ,and being circumcised, does help lower the risk of aids .. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not for these rituals, especially not in the way it's performed. I'm also not against it tho.. And I'd rather see it be because of culture and traditions.. then religion. Never on women tho.. ever!!! It takes a long time for these traditions to stop. You have to remember that it's hard to have a voice in those countries .. Gambia is trying to reverse it's ban on female cutting.. this is 2024.. now that's a issue .. a huge one ..

I know theres religious "reasons" and in in many generations, it's taught that it doubles for "health reasons"....but seeing that none of the "reasons" have any real merit, I feel for all the people who didn't have the choice.

Circumcision began with Jewish custom forced upon children. It is NOT a need. Practicing hygiene with your children should be standard. Cutting off thousands of nerve endings for "hygiene" should not.
