@@arnavpandey3823 There are many great film critics who don't like TDK. It doesn't Make them dumb. (I am not talking about MCU and DCEU shills and fanboys) Movies are subjective just like art.
omg !!! who are you man ? I've never heard one of my countryman talk so seriously of a Hollywood cinema!! Most of indian multiplexed audience wouldnt find the difference between Nolans Batman and the rest of the previous and post interpreted versions of the same!! Nolans Batman Trilogy is first of all a serious cinema made by a seriously high thinking film director. nolan has clearly ventured into the pshyche a super hero, the circumstances that lead him to be one and the existential questions that he has to battle within.....Brilliant Sir Good Job... wish to hear your analysis of the last film in the trilogy

Excellent work. Dark Knight is definitely one of the greatest films ever made. The Joker constantly tries to prove to Batman that the society is selfish and will not act ethically when its survival is threatened. When he declares that Batman he should reveal himself and starts killing people, the people of Gotham start condemning Batman, even when he has done so much for them. He again proves his point with Harvey Dent, who leaves his noble intentions behind and starts seeking personal revenge. Batman is the only one who stands by his own principles and doesn't abandon them even when he suffers personal loss (Rachel's death). Joker admits this in the end when he says "You truly are incorruptible".

They always say these movies are 'dark and gritty'. Well the tone and the visuals are, but it's core message is actually super optimistic about human nature. An optimism I don't share, but do admire.

@@RalphLindsen It's a bit more complex than just optimistic. It shows two sides to human nature. The negative action to people falling under harsh circumstances, and the other side of people being able to do good

Wow, I've seen a lot of the dark knight movie analysis and I must say without a doubt this movie has very deep philosophical meanings. Many KZread videos about the dark knight has different opinions about the theme of the movie and I think none of theme are wrong. Every time I watch a video about TDK I learn more about the movie, each time there is something new which makes me love the movie more. And I especially love this explanation from your point of view, you seems to have a deep understanding of the movie. Thanks

Check out TDK by movies with Mikey...you'll gain even more insight
The ending lines in this movie narrated by GARY OLDMAN, the perfect dialogue delivery, still gives me goosebumps ... A movie where the villian wins, hero taking the blame and escaping into darkness.... "Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll hunt him. Because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight."
Plot structure, characters, themes - this is one of my favorite movies and you have done a most excellent analysis of it. Thank you!
Honestly, I've seen this movie dozens of times, but you brought up things I had never noticed. Great analysis. :) Subscribed!
Amazing video, I have seen and read many analysis of The Dark Knight and this (very interesting) aspect has always been, in my opinion, the most overlooked until this video :D
7:49 "They are great because they hold a mirror upto ourselves..." - smartly placed shot from Taxi Driver. Eh!
he is forgetting about the Locke vs Hobbe theory prevalent in the film, people are animals and monsters at heart, when the chips are down, civilized people eat each other, therfore they need a powerful leader vs. Batman's thoery that people are good at heart
@TheGeorgeD13

Honestly, neither idea is wrong. I think it's more dependent on the individuals rather than the whole of society. It just so happens that the people on those boats chose to not kill the people on the other boat because more good people outweighed bad people. And I think that's true in the real world. The good vastly outnumber the bad. The bad just are good at creating chaos and anarchy and ruining it for everybody else.

I just wanna comment that I made a video on Visual literacy (more of a ppt than video) for my college project, and I copied the last words of Martin Scorcese in this video as my last words in my project. Its my favourite video I have watched this video 8 times by now, thanks Vinit.
Loved how topics which contain this much excitement and passion are also explained in such a calm and composed tone. More than informative, this video is inspiring ( to explore the deeper part of cinema) and relaxing.
Love that Martin Scorsese quote at the end gosh that's why he is one of my favorite directors!!!

Vinit, I discovered your videos recently. Until now I haven't been used to the idea of a video discussing cinema-beyond just being a Hindi/English movie. Your content is refreshing. I'm loving it. Keep them coming!
I must say that you are really doing a good job. It makes more sense when you said that great movies not only have a great story telling but it delves itself into questioning the real rudimentary values. Kudos to the work you are doing.

If you guys don't know, Joker telling stories of his scars is iconic because it authenticate this version of joker. Joker likes to tell his fable tales of oppression and domestic violence to gain sympathy. That is how he befriends harley he brainwashes her and uses her for his own benefit. Harley is so gullible that she thinks he loves her but she is a mere toy to him, a distraction from his special someone.
Bhai bhai bhai bhai, itni wisdom le doobegi. You're the man we don't deserve but the one we need!

I bet most of our Indians will not understand the dept of your videos and their contents. You deserve more .
Another gem from you, keep it up guys
The music by Hans Zimmer always touched heart. And the Gotham itself is a character in this movie at the end, joker tries to prove that the character of Gotham is that people will kill eachother when chips are down but he is proven wrong in the end.
Hey! Just love love your analysis, observations and the depth of your knowledge. Would you do ‘ Shawshank Redemption ‘ !??
its beautiful to see how you analysed the movie's philosophy, from Plato to Nolan!
And let's not forget about the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) that Noland made to promote The Dark Knight, he set up hundreds of websites, had gatherings and even delivered Gotham newspapers to the candidates with people trying to solve the whole thing while being identified as Joker's Henchmen, and others helping the police. Nolan made this ARG not only to promote the film but also to tell the story that takes place before the dark knight.

No one but you would have thought of the analogy of 'The Republic' in TDK! :D I have read the book "art and making of dark Knight triology"... I don't remember any mention of it. I always find some similarity between TDK and Rashomon though.. " Everyone's version of truth (& lies) and meaning towards achieving harmony" You think they both are talking about human condition? Kurosawa could be a good topic for a video I guess! Great job though! good one!
@CinemaBeyondEntertainment

+Nachiket Dhavalikar Yes I have plans to make an essay on Kurosawa as he is one of my favorites. And as per Rashoman and TDK, although the theme is ambiguity in presentation of truth/lies, in Rashoman, characters are constructing a version of truth necessarily for themselves whereas in TDK, Batman is constructing it only for others. People close to him, friends, foes, and we the audience are completely aware of the reality. But in case of Rashomon, I still have no idea who is speaking the truth.

+Cinema Beyond Entertainment rashoman and tdk cannot be compared... One is pure classic and ahead of its time... And one is great, though overrated piece of work... For me nolan is still quite a mediocre director as compared to other giants in world cinema and even Hollywood... His movies are generally pseudo intellectual and pretentious. At least his last two movies, interstellar and tdkr are really weak and extremely overhyped. The Prestige also failed to impress me. Inception, tdk were good, but will some be forgotten. His only interesting movie was memento which also was somewhat boring. He weakness according to me, as a filmmaker is that he tells nearly everything verbally, but isn't able to create the atmosphere to communicate with out actually having to. And finally he casts really great actors.. But isn't able to derive best from them. Except for heath legder(which was his individual work)... None of the other actors have given even near memorable performance. Well this all makes sense as he never received big awards for his work. And i don't think he is ever going to get anything big for his direction.
