The irony is that he calls himself the agent of chaos, and his motives and origins are unclear, but he is the the most intelligent and planned in this movie.

Funny thing about the last part of the scene, when joker is walking out of the hospital, that was not part of the production plan. The explosives delayed and Ledger’s reaction was real. 5:26
Heath Ledgers Joker is truly a masterful performance.

Where is he holding his hand im confused?
I think I remember reading somewhere that when they blow up the building, there was a delay with the explosion. So Joker being confused was Heath improvising all the way
Heath Ledger wasn’t the best Joker, he was the Joker

The joker I just did what I do best. I look your little plan and I turned it on itself, Look what I did to this city with a few drums of gas and a couple of bullets. Hm? You khow what I noticed? Nodody panics when things go "according to plan" Even if the plan is horrifying. If tomorrow I tell the press that. Like. A gangbanger will get shot... or a truckland of soldiers will be blowing Up... Nobody panics. Because it's all part of the plan. But when I say that one little old mayor will die... Well, The, evertyone loses their minds. Take out a gun Introduce a little anarchy... He pust his hand Upset the established order... And everything becomes chaos. Put on the forehead I'm an agent of chaos. Oh and you khow the thing about chaos? It's fair. Two faces >:( look at joker Take out your coin - You live. Joker - Mm-Hm. Turns it over You die. That was one nutty mofo. Ben's bats would have killed him midway in the movie and the credits would have rolled to a satisfying conclusion! Gotta take out the riff raff or it will just keep coming back.

The joker here is the real protagonist. He himself destroyed the mob not bats. Ben's bat is better than bale's but a grrat schemer like the joker would run things the same it wouldn't make any difference. Plus bats has a moral code not to kill, which joker challenged throughout this movie.
