At one point of time, even Sayyidna Musa a.s went out in search of a teacher. This is the sunnah of Allah in regards to knowledge. Person to person, heart to heart.... You get perfume from a perfume owner, clothes from a cloth merchant, fruits from a fruit vendor and so knowledge from men of knowledge. *“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”* - Hadith

You need a teacher to get educated. Allah loves the ones that work on themselves for good. The reward is immense

Ideally, studying with a teacher is the best option but the problem is that teachers/sheikhs cost a lot money as they will usually charge for their services and not everyone is able to afford this.

What's more important than deen to pay money for... we pay for tuition and university but don't care about deen... Plus you can find cheap teachers in Egypt and Pakistan etc. And other places...

Not everyone has the means to search for knowledge. Not everyone lives in an area where knowledge is accessible. All we can do is our best and make Duá.

Forget about teacher, I don't even have a mu'min friend. Everyone is munafiq (In my opinion) around me. Even though I live in Bangladesh (Muslim country by name). I am all alone, except there is internet to help me.

Brother wallahi I am trying to seek knowledge. But there’s no reliable teacher than I can reach..

how can i find a teacher in the uk? while living in a small town

Assalamu alaikum. My Quranic arabic foundation course is starting from tonight online (3 days a week) , what suggestions do you have for me. I'm an Indian knowing Hindi English and Urdu. I don't have any prior knowledge about Arabic language.

how do i find a teacher? My local masjid is very big and its the only one really close to me and the imam also speaks german the other ones are too far away or dont speak german and because its so big i feel like i cant approach him, like probably he has no time and they offer lectures in the masjid every week but i think the topics are beyond my level, i need like the basics still and im a very very very shy person like i have never approached an imam in my life i know you guys know some shy people but trust me when i say im very shy, its like an unhealthy amount of shyness like going to the imam after a prayer while even only 1 person sees me its like idk... i would prefer to sleep on rocks for 7 days than approaching him while someone sees me this level of shyness

BTW: I would appreciate if someone could suggest me some beginner lectures on youtube, like a well prioritized Course my level is : I know a bit about Islam, i know about the signs, i have read about the Prophets, the Angels, many parts of the seerah, ofc the Quran but i feel like i started at the wrong point maybe i should have focused on my Adab and Character first... idk i really dont know which topics of Islam should be learned first, i need like structure and guidance.. im lost in youtube Videos like a grass in the wind, moving from topic to topic

My first advice to you is to overcome your shyness, dear brother As much as I understand that this is easier said than done, you need to do it if you want to learn from a teacher eventually

@@mortarman83095 thanks for your reply Brother i really appreciate it I wish i can one day.. it really ruins my life I could tell you how much my day is crippled by this but i wont, people will think im crazy Just to give you a simple example I never go outside unless its 100% needed, like going juma or buying food, even food sometimes i just dont buy it sometimes or go to a market that has open until midnight so i see the least amount of people I go outside for walks right before fajr because its the only time when i feel comfortable, when nobody is around There are so many other things... Please make dua for me in private🤕 As salamu alaykum my Brother

Brother i'm also going through a similar situation. But what helped me most was that i approached the imam and started small by greeting him. Waiting until he is leaving the masjid to ask him a question or two. Although it was not easy and took a lot of courage and mental and emotional energy. It was still possible. So i persisted. And by now i have told him enough things for him to realize where i am on the islamic knowledge spectrum. So he makes sure to listen to what i have to say. The earlier steps i took boosted my confidence and every time i go to him it gets easier and easier. He always reminds me to make dua to allah to strengthen. Protect and bless me. He even went on to tell me about himself and his experiences. I can assure you that i'm the most shy person around town where i live. I also don't have the best social skills. But i'm making progress. I hope this helps a little bit. May allah protect and guide you on your journey brother. Allah does not judge us based on results. But on our efforts. ❤

You still don't tell me what a teacher is? Are you referring to Scholars? As I understand, Having a teacher doesn't guarantee that you won't go astray.

I totally disagree with you first time

You need teachers because of the resources and knowledge they have, but in this day an age people have access to those resources online and elsewhere. As you continue to learn you can grasp that a certain interpretation is right or wrong based of halal and haram. And obviously a teacher would be beneficial and make concepts easier, but you can't gate keep islam and say it is needed when we have access to other resources to answer those questions. When people do have questions they usually go to a sheikh and ask their local mosque or a scholar anyway. People are able to use their critical thinking skills...

Critical thinking is important in understanding the deen. A teacher will help in understanding concepts or teaching we're not familiar with. However even teachers can get things wrong but that is to be expected since they are humans. What's important is being able to filter what is right and wrong and sift that information. If people fully rely on just the teacher and not their own thinking then that won't be good too. For example a person who is taught by a teacher from deviant sect will definitely be astray unless they think for themselves that what they are doing is wrong. So finding the right teacher is important too.
