Deborah Bull , former principal with the Royal Ballet, examines how a young dancer's skills develop from childhood to maturity and takes a look at some of the techniques they use to commit a performance to memory. The young dancer also begins to develop an essential sixth sense" that is weak in non-dancers - proprioception, an awareness of the body's position in space.
