This short documentary looks at Richard's visit to India to meet the Dalai Lama alongside the ex-solider. Richard runs the charity www.childrenincrossfire.org
This documentary was aired on UTV Northern Ireland in October 2010. Watch another video of Richard with the Dalai Lama during his 2011 visit to Dublin here: • Dalai Lama & Richard M... and his video to Limerick here: • Dalai Lama The Power o...

Tears just rolled down my cheek when poor Richard is being described about the sight of Dharamsala while in the moving taxi. He has a heart of gold. Respect to you, Richard la. Two best friends of Tibet share the same first name: More and Gere.

My son met Richard when he came to give a talk at my sons school, my sons only 10 but is fascinated by Richards story, he's going back to the school today with Charles the soldier that shot him and my son has been so excited! I think his interest stems from stories from my mother who's Irish and was caught up in an Ira bomb in the 70s! If Richard can forgive Charles I think it shows anyone can be forgiven! I'm glad he does talks at school as I think it's a very good lesson for children to learn x

Very inspiring. This video moved me to tears. As the Buddha once said: " Having hatred in our hearts is like holding onto to a burning hot coal with the intention of throwing it at somebody, we are the ones who get burned! "

You can see how Charles feels that remorse for hurting Richard. The way he talks is heavy, not joyful. You can see how the guilt has followed him. But, he let the Norwegian soldier be heard so they could understand each other. I love when the blinded boy says how his sight can be taken but not his vision.

Thank you. My sight is challenged with glaucoma but most difficult challenge is forgiveness around grandson's father dying from gunshot. This is a long process. It requires vision. We are not separate we humans. ❣️

= no true scotsman fallacy, the fact is Buddhist monks HAVE committed self-immolation. In Pali texts, Arahants self-immolate when the Buddha died. Also the sanskrit text speaking of the monk who achieved movable arahatship and fell out of Nirvana 6 times. When he attained Nirvana again he killed himself to make sure he wouldn't fall from Nirvana. Considering this & considering that Buddhists from MANY separate traditions have self-immolated you have no leg to stand on and claim such things.
