About The Daily Show with Jon Stewart:
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program that looked at politics, pop culture, sports and entertainment through a sharp, reality-based lens. Stewart and The Best F#@king News Team Ever covered the day's top stories like no one, using footage, field reports and guest interviews to deliver fake news that was even better than the real thing.

I really, really, really want Bassem to be the next host of the Daily Show! 1. He's got an incredible story - surgeon turned satirist (he's already the Jon Stewart of Egypt, so there's that) and he escaped Egypt after they shut down his TV show there and came after him. 2. He's got great stage presence and I feel like when he speaks, people listen -- much like Jon and Trevor. 3. I went to one of his standup comic sets. Not only was he hilarious, he took the time after the show to take pictures and briefly chat with everyone who came. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Bassem constantly asked people to stop labeling him as a hero, but they wouldn't listen. He said, if we had to learn anything from the Arab Spring, it should be the fact that we should demand our rights ourselves, instead of waiting for someone else to take our rights for us. Do your own shows , make a change. But they didn't listen, and when his show got cancelled, nothing else happened after that. This guy is not only funny, but also smart. After all, he's a cardiologist.

Bassem Youssef's show was called "Al Bernameg", translation "The Program", which aired during and after the Yasmin Revolution. Egypt has a total of 95 million inhabitants. The show "Al Bernameg" had only one season before it got cancelled with a viewing average of about 30 million people. That's possibly one of the greatest achievements of political satire this decade.

I know you'll never see this Dr. Bassem but this is what I was fighting for as Marine. I wanted the U.S. to see what it was actually what we were trying to get out. With a gun was a failure. Laughter and love is the true answer. I will be criticized and bashed for this, but you're brave and I say thank you for what you do. Keep doing what you're doing and I hope you change what I could not. Peace, Love, Laughter, and press on. I watched your movie. I'm in tears and laughed my ass off. Thank you for doing what we Americans can't to get the message across. America thinks that this culture kills and hates. I know it's actually a peaceful culture and it's the radicals that make a bad name.
