Lyrics
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day.
Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do,
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know,
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was singing this song
We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again,
Some sunny day.We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day.
Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do,
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know,
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was singing this song.
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again,
Some sunny day.

I just showed this video to my 97 year old neighbour, who was in the Canadian Navy during the war. Of course she remembered it. She started singing along, and tears came into her old eyes. She was 19 in 1943, fell in love with a sailor, and this was their song. It was very touching to watch her remember.

That was a time when men were men, women were women and the greatest generation of all the Allies was fighting an evil so deadly that it threatened the whole world. Now, at least in the US, feeling patriotic like this is frowned on and highly discouraged. This was a time when there was patriotism and honor still left in my country but is is fast being eroded by a social disease far worse than any cancer ever could. My great grandfather on my mother's side was a Canadian soldier during WW2. Served in the 7th infantry division from 1942 to 1945, stormed Juno Beach, was shot three times on that beach, barely survived and rejoined his unit once he was strong enough to pick up his rifle. He fought until the war ended and when he came home, the first thing he did was dance with my great grandmother to this song. I remember him asking to have this song play while he laid on his deathbed. This song makes me both sad and happy. Sad because it is a beautiful and powerful song, but it reminds me of a truly great man that I wish I knew better. But, it makes me happy because I know why he wanted to have it play when he passed. He wanted it to play, because he wanted to remember and relive the moments he had with his wife and with the men he served with. Thank you Great Grandpa for fighting so I could be who I am today. Rest In Peace.

My friends grandmother fought in WWII she was around 17 and she dressed up as a guy, somehow got in to the army and she is still alive. She always sings this song when we talk about the war and she always says “I’m glad I didn’t die before we won, I don’t want to have James bunting written on my head stone!” (James was the name she used to get in and seem male) :)

If she’s still alive she’s one of the few remaining WWII veterans who are rapidly dying off. Time is of the essence. If you need help there are veterans organizations who would be thrilled to assist your friend’s grandmother.

This song reminds me of one of the finest gentleman I've ever met. He was one of the RAF pilots on D-day flying over Normandy and was supporting the American troops landing on the beaches. Some of his stories were horrific, romantic and truly British, used to tear up when he was talking about the friends he lost, as much as I slightly hesitated, he insisted. Sadly he has passed away now, but plane his friend flew was on display at Duxford for some time.

Such a beautiful and precious song! I imagine it brought such comfort to the women and children left behind during WW2.

Oh my goodness! Words cannot express how much I LOVE and ADORE THIS VIDEO! It was the "Best of Times" it was the "Worst of Times" all at once. Imagine being alive, surrounded by such music and songs, during those momentous WW2 years. Incredible to even contemplate.

We (me and my primary school) used to sing this song (and a number of other war time songs) every year to a group of soldiers who fought in WWII. It was so lovely.

Interestingly the lead singer in the corporal’s stripes appears to be a medic. She is wearing two gold pins on the lapels of her uniform jacket in the shape of Aesculapius’s staff with entwined snakes the symbol of the ancient Roman god of medicine.

Correct, She is an SAC medic, hence the Lapel badges. Modern version going by the uniforms but with war time hair styles, I felt an excellent production and 'Hats off' to those behind this brilliant effort, of course the Lancaster Bomber brought back memories, every time I see those aircraft (in Museums), I think of my days as a Kid 1939-1945..

@me hee She's wearing the rank of a Cpl, not a SAC, thus the chevrons. SAC is two ranks below.
