Is this particular one a descendant of the Des'assier line? He seems to have a fairly distinct facial features

What a beautiful pup and great shots! I was under the impression Beaucerons were for herding sheep. Are they also guard dogs or was I wrong about herding?

They were originally bred for herding sheep but like the German Shepherd can also make fantastic guard dogs.

They were bred to herd, protect the crop and livestock, and protect the land and family! Very beautiful and intelligent digs

A beauceron is a breed of a dog crossed a Labrador Retriever, Rottweiler and a Doberman Pinscher.

no dear. First traces of Beauceron are 500 years old. Far older than Doberman and Rottweillers... it's actually the opposite. Beaucerons were most probably used to create those two breeds.

@@carolinemarchand4743 Sorry, I'm a beauceron owner but while what you said about the Doberman being a younger breed is true (actually partially made from the Beauceron), the Rottweiler origins trace back all the way to the Roman Empire.
