I believe that a good horse game will be different for a lot of people. A life sim would be perfect for others, but other people will prefer a more stylised story driven game instead of something like Pro Show Jumping.

I feel you on Alicia Online. It is my favourite horse game, it feels like the only fantasy horse game that isn't pandering for children. I just wish I could play out a story. The early Project Alice trailer showed the characters fighting and escaping monsters. What I would do for a game with Alicia's aesthetics, and a story with action and adventure. That would be perfect for me

@@huntermoonhearth it was internationally known as My Horse Club, developed by Mindscape and published March 28th 2008. After that came Riding Club Championships in April 1st or 5th 2008, after that came Horse Star in 2010 and Star Stable in 2011. Star Stable was the last mmo and the only one that survived. The RCC you see on steam is not the same game actually, it's a standalone unity game.

Most information on the horse game database is incorrect, so feel free to reach out to me if you're looking for a specific game. I have a really big community where we preserve old horse games. We usually have a lot of info.

I think some Game Developers search for a community in videogames factory were the fanbase is not pleased or unhappy with the currend state of the game and then they make a horse game and get a lot of money just bc the horse game community is tired of the horse games they have and put money in to the new ,,better,, horse game bc they belive it will be better.

What I don't understand is, Alicia online is SO CLOSE to being a complete game. Why have we not purchased the license yet? We could do so much more with it. The team could actually make money out of the game and they could become full time devs. Why are we not making Alicia whole again? Because I know for sure I'd spend big time on that game no matter what.

@@inkxn Because licenses are pricey, plus Idk if the old devs are even around anymore for the new dev to even talk to let alone purchase said license.

I'd personally love a horse game similar to Lioden with some racing added in.

I have noticed the biggest thing most horse games lack is engagement. Because the community of horse lovers is so desperate, games just incorporate horseback riding in someway, check the box, call it a day. And unfortunately, because the community is so starved of a decent game, they just accept it for being slightly better than something that already exists. Like you said, there’s no competition. For a lot of these games there is zero reason for them to add or improve outside of wanting to make a better game because they want to. My boyfriend who plays a ton of video games recently joined me on star stable just for fun. He was baffled that the game could even exist the way it is when it is so below the standard held for video games. The glitches and bugs, the lack of overall engagement, This vast world that’s so empty, and the monotonous routine players fall into of logon, buy a horse, train the horse, log off. I’m not a big gamer so I had no idea the standard for other video games, but after doing my research star stable is the bottom of the barrel in terms of effort put in. And it has made me realize just how outrageous their costs are as well as most every horse game. I’ve grown up playing horse games and I had no idea the average game doesn’t survive on shameless cash grabs, crumbling story and ignoring players. You could argue their advertising for children and so the game doesn’t need to be that good, but like you said it set a market for everything around it so then we just get collections of these really shit games that are super overcharged. For us adults who I believe dominate a lot of these spaces because we have money, end up turning to games like red, dead redemption solely because there’s nothing else good

I have been apart of the gaming community since I was a child and I grew up on games, SSO really is the low bar for the community, it's already such a niche genre unlike combat games they really should have stepped up years ago, other games standards are different but the community expects a fun experience regardless of the game and SSO rarely delivers that for its players for long term.

Rdr2 is the best horse girl game ever made. (I was typing this as she called out rdr2)

Why wasn’t rival stars on this?

What about horse racing and equestrian the game I mean their not exactly games where you can bond with your horse

And star stable I love it but I wish they’d stop making horses all the time I like them and want to buy them, since their team is only in Sweden they lack so much staff they could really do things faster if they had more staff doing quests and stuff other than horses 😐

​@@huntermoonhearthrecently for pc, because thats what i have, there is steeple chase, cross country, and regular derby racing. There is arabians, selle Francis and thoroughbred, you can cross bred and the breeds do better at specific races. New patterns for horses. In free mode you can take off tack and the jockey. I think thats it at the moment plus the VR talk/alpha.

At times I wish that Alicia online never had to shut down after their 2.0 release. I still play on their unofficial server and have gotten to level 57, but seeing the behind the scenes concept art and 3D models with new horse breeds and character designs makes me sad to see it end the way it did. 🥲 A lot of love a labor went into it, for nearly a decade (2005-2014) before it ended. Maybe one day a game company will mix anime customization and horses once again. 😫

@@Lanasj5 I never got to play the original myself but it looked so fun, I wish they did have a bit more story for it and tracks based on the ingame map, racing in a swamp would be so fun! I wish we had the Shires in the current version,maybe one day.

​@@huntermoonhearth Agreed! Ruffymew has a good video on the bits of lore that AO had, but it could have been so much more. Speaking of which, the Subsidiary company in charge of alicia's development closed down semi-recently February 2024. RIP🕯

There are actually some people that wants to bring back Alicia 2.0! Though it would be a new game and you would have to start over, but I really hope it goes through! They’re looking for more developers of what I know :)
