Bro this game is surviving off the DLC packs.. If it wasn't for that this game would be a complete flop. Its boring, the kameo system is trash, the characters are unbalanced, only two online modes, the character designs are boring, the character move sets are boring, hardly any skins just color palettes of the same skins since day one, and majority of fights are poke poke poke throw poke throw stagger stagger poke and throw..

I think all cameos need to be ambush type and also gave the same cool down . Once a combo use

Well said man. My hope is this game is trashed and MK2 comes out in the next year or so and is completely revamped. Scrap the kameo system and go back to 1 v 1. I'd rather have a one good character, then having a half ass character that needs to be carried by a kameo. Sad day but I cant play this one anymore. I'll be on street fighter 6, tekken 8, and multi verses from here on out. When fatal fury city of wolves drops mk1 will be no more. So many better titles out there now.

You wanna hear the WORST PART? 3rd STRIKE, a 25 years old got almost the same number as first year MKX number...HOW DID MKI BECOME SUCH A JOKE LIKE THIS?

Yeah I’m fed up with what WB has done to mortal kombat. Since NRS aquired it, it’s been on a steady downhill slope. It started off near perfect with 9, I’d argue mkx was better, but slightly, And then just dogshit after dogshit since then

This game is on life support at this moment NRS and WB are lacking super hard in majority of areas that is vital for the product to be finish. Can anyone even tell me what in the world warrior shrine is suppose to be, Warrior shrine have the "Coming Soon" Title since it came out.

What surprised me about the list was the fact that Street Fighter is above Tekken. I just thought Tekken was more popular

I have a feeling it won’t even be at EVO next year. Its a shame because i loved the franchise, but its a huge flop every way possible. And i have no faith in them anymore. They should’ve put DBFZ in there instead, to 1. pay respect to Akira Toriyama 2. Hype up Sparking Zero even more 3. Have more players than this. The game is not fun, the dlc’s are not great, there are no improvements made since release. Peak meh.

bro at what you said at 7:00 is a sentiment that i have too; as a life-long MK fan, this makes me legitimately sad. the days of MK being this fascinating IP drenched in mystique, darkness, gore, crypticism and badass electronic music are gone. MK feels like a shell of its former self… and it’s not just MK. The world is more corporate and stoic now. Easy example, look at the contrast between the architecture of most fast food chains now compared to pre-2015. Everything in the world of art is bleak as hell; minimalism and corporate practices have ruined modern art of all forms.

I agree with everything you said except that battle pass ish.. I paid $120 for this trash ahh game no way in hell I'm buying a battle pass thats a terrible idea bro 😂💯

tbh I think battle passes that had hella skins in them for like 10$ is way better than the 5$ skin system we have rn. Imagine an MK2 bp, UMK3 bp, MK9 etc…

Yeah MK1 didn't worth that much. the lack of content are genuinely killed this game faster than most other fighting games.

Well, they said it because it was a downgrade from MKX gameplay wise. Now MK11 has 1000+ more daily player peaks just on steam.

its an online fighting game that noone plays it online,it sales the most in US but noone shows up for a tourny that is being held US! those excusses dont make any sense

The poster of those past EVO numbers says not to doompost....when you absolutely SHOULD cause this is concerning! And i don't even like NRS games anymore(nothing matters except for the violence and gore, thier animation always sucks and looks stupid(that isn't a cutscene), and the guest characters feel more like a crutch at this point to compensate for everything else.)

I really hope that After Evo MK is able to do a massive hat trick to Bring itself out of its current state. Now. UNIST 2 is a really good game, but that game, being above MK is VERY SURPRISING! Now KOF I know is gonna have a lot of views despite its low entrants. Not to mention the HYPE for City of wolves will bring more eyes on KOF. I love MK. But MK1 and NRS have done some serious damage to the franchise. I hope it picks up.

Just a casual here, but with marvel vs capcom 2 re releasing, can we expect that game in tournaments? I feel like just playing sf now. I'm not having fun with mk. Again, from a casual standpoint, the whole different timelines is getting played out too.

WB don’t care about the competitive scene because it doesn’t make them money. The gameplay is sluggish the poke system sucks so bad. The characters are watered down the netcode still sucks. They needed to add more to gameplay no defensive options what so ever. It’s even hard to play footsies because walking back and forward and then punishing them when they whiff usually causes a fucking special move to come out. Game should’ve had 3 bars of meter and a separate meter for legit super moves.

So, I play MK for the stories first, gameplay second. MK9, story was fantastic and the gameplay was great, too. I stuck around. MKX, story was meh and the gameplay, while fun, I didn’t take seriously back then as i do now. I was pretty much saying goodbye to gaming for a while as it didn’t interest me anymore in 2015. Wish I had, the tournaments was absolutely sick. After playing Injustice 2 which was the first game I took seriously, played ranked all day and straight no lifed, I was excited for MK11. MK11 story was wack and the gameplay was absolutely horrible. To me, it’s the worst MK game of all time purely from a gameplay perspective. I hated it. I stopped playing shortly after Sindel was released. I came back for Aftermath’s story, which was dope, but I checked out as soon as I was finished. MK1’s story was great and the gameplay, for me, is amazing. I love the Kameo system, seeing characters like Shujinko, Mavado, Sareena, freaking Darrius in 2024 is so satisfying since I grew up with the 3D era. I am playing this game every single day and can’t get enough. Yeah, Invasions is wack as fuck, but I don’t really care for the single player content besides story mode. If you like online play, then yes, you’re out of luck. But I have tons of fun with the game since I do play online ranked. There’s some shit head characters like Scorpion or Rain I hate playing against, but it’s very fun. For me, at least. This EVO shit does suck to hear, but I am excited to watch nonetheless. I would love to try Tekken 8, as I’ve played Tekken 7 at a casual level back in 2019 but games are so freaking expensive these days. I’ve never clicked with SF, but I heard this newest one is easy to understand for noobs like myself. The game does has its problems, but not enough for me to not play at least once a day.

I blame Lui Kang his timeline is boring and it sucks😭😭

Under night slaps. I love the game and think it is super fun and creative, but the fact that it's beating a big name game like mk is kinda wild. It's really telling to how people feel about mk that an update to what is basically a lower budget fighting game is more played than a newer big budget game that has had a ton more advertising

As a sub main I can tell you that the the problem lays between game play and lack of mode’s , specifically when all tournaments are being played by Johnny cage players it’s to dam boring when you play online and characters like sub zero can’t counter hardly anything and can only combo out of one starter😢

BROOOO I am so choked MK1 is falling... I feel like, if they really improve the online experience, it'll pop off again... Like why do ranks reset every 3 months? Why is there a hidden rank? Why can't we go into training mode while waiting for a match? Damn... It sucks cuz MK1 is one of my favorite games

Mk11 was severely under appreciated! The dialogue, intro/outros, customizations and krypt was so good. Stage fatalities, mercies, friendships! So many more moves for each character. Mk1 doesn’t even have stage interactables😂 Mk1 can’t even give us different intro/outros. The effort in this game was sad

NRS has already proven they're not gonna invest the money from microtransactions into this game so adding more monetization will just make things worse they would probably focus their attention on developing battle passes instead of fixing this shit.

Im a mk fan for the long hall but compared to SF6 and T8 gameplay mechanics are way better and more fun to play than Mk1 now I haven't played T8 yet but t7 was good and all they did for T8 was add more mechanics Mk1 can be good if they just make the game more fun to play like adding more ambush moves for the kameos and have all the kameos be useful and fun for every base character not just for certain characters and that's just my opinion and some people may have other ways to Mk1 a more fun game

It’s truly ironic how MK11 did pretty ok for its Evo debut despite being nearly unanimously DESPISED by competitive players both in and outside of MK circles. The casual bubble for that game+ the good will still being felt from MKX carried the shit outta MK11 early on. MK1 is not getting that love and In fact is at the mercy of the complete opposite phenomenon. It’s paying the piper for MK11’s ending as poorly at it did despite its gameplay being less insulting for competitive hard cores to get behind compared to MK11’s systems..

Been playing and enjoying mk1 since release, is there a correlation between kombat league rank and if you are a mk hater or not, ive found that this mk has a pretty high skill ceiling but is also flexible enough to where you can still succeed without heavy combos, for me if anything sf feels more like the f2p game with terrible production values horrible story and music etc, nothing like the glory days of super turbo yet everyone gives it the top spot oh well

Kameos were a mistake

We've been covering this for how long? We know it's not doing well in the competitive scene. We know. We know. We know. We know. We know. We know. We know.. **8 months later** WE KNOW! SFV bombed. Tekken 6 bombed. Stuff happens. Sometimes games aren't as good, but you know what? You wouldn't care if you weren't playing it every day. I don't understand the point in beating this dead horse. I think, part of the problem is you still enjoy the game enough to play it almost every night, so it's issues are glaringly obvious. As MK fans we're disappointed, but we're also jaded because it's still one of the best games in the series. I played all of them until Deception, then came back at MK11, and... MK1 Is my favorite MK game! Stop playing it every day.

I left Mk1 for Tekken and Im happy about it. I mainly play NRS games but Mk1 is so fuckin bad

I get where youre coming from, but skins, single player content, that stuff is extra and wont save mk1. People clearly dont like the kameo system, even though its basically just variaions, and are put off by the meta gameplay. Game needs a serious overhaul of the base systems. NRS can't/won't do that, so the game is what it is for the foreseeable future.

real question: Would people rather see NRS scrap violence and dial-in strings to make their game more like SF and esports friendly? Or, keep what you love about the game but it’s too niche for esports? not making a point, i’m fr just asking. like imagine NRS just makes this game “woke” and removes fatalities. they can’t win?

Well, tell you the truth. I don't really think street fighter 6 It's not very good because no multiple modes. No survivor mode and the fact that you have to pay for your characters. Real money and not do fight money to unlock those characters like street fighter 5 Did is insulting. I'm sorry, no, I'm not sorry. I'm just spitting out facts. I don't go to tournament the fact you people just go to there, it's just really ridiculous. But I feel like comparing it to mortal combat. Any other fighting game is insulting? Because right now, I don't see anything worth investing. If you don't have a survivor mode, survivor mall is the best sing in your game, it gives you challenges it gives you goals to do if you wanted to go to tournaments and do things well. That's a different story and I personally feel like. Does people really want to play that game 5050?
