They’re lip syncing/playing to the album track and Ian is still so captivating that I don’t care. He was amazing. Mesmerizing. Looking back on the 80’s, one of my favorite things was that we never said “what the hell are they wearing?”. Everyone wore what they wanted, the more outrageous the better, and the fashion was just part of the overall 80’s ambiance. We didn’t care who you were sleeping with or who you voted for and we sure as hell didn’t pose for our own camera half the night. I wish we could go back and grab a little bit of that and drag into the now.

I'll never forget the first time I saw The Cult. Back in the 80's there was this new network called FOX. It had cutting edge shows like Married... with Children and The Simpsons. It also had a talk show or two. I think one of them was Arsenio Hall Show and I'm pretty certain The Cult showed up on that show and I just happened to be watching. I was blown away instantly by the energy and the look. I couldn't think of anyone that looked like them and they just jammed and they jammed hard. I have been a die-hard Cult fan ever since. Remember this was a low chart entry. The Cult were virtually unknown. However rather than disappear the following week, it slowly crept up the charts. It was a good song & the Radio 1 DJ's liked it. This TOTP performance pushed the song up to it's peak of 15. This was in the days when Radio 1 & the Top 40 mattered a bit.
