The Cuckoo has landed: touring Mikkeller Brewpub London | The Craft Beer Channel
This week we get the chance to explore the new Mikkeller Brewpub in east London. Despite COVID delays it's now pumping out an extraordinary range of beers to join Mikkeller beers from all over the world. We meet brewer Tom and operations manager Mads to get the low down and try some of the beers.

Nice. Another London beer destination for me to visit... whenever we're allowed back into the country.
Brewer Tom rocking an In My Eyes tee with a literal reference to straight edge on it - love it!
We have a Mikkeller NYC in Citi Field where the Mets play and been a couple times before games. Always tons of tasty stuff on tap including guests and because it's such a large facility they're able to distribute cans too.
I don't even live in London but I got excited watching this video anyway. I wish the brewpub great success!
The liquorice you were thinking of is lakerol and they are amazing.
I love my local Mikkeller pub here in Oslo, top notch beer and friendly folks. Nice tour of the new London location, wish them all the best.
Looks a cracking little bar! I love the fact they are trying to give people a range of styles to try. Mikkeller beers have always been pretty solid and I'm really looking forward to coming here for a nice selection to try. Superb video yet again guys!!

Looks like a very cool location... and a great brew pub.
Great vid!! Thanks guys
awesome! I love the idea of onsite brewing/roasting etc!
love mikkeller, you guys are so lucky...
I love the idea of tank to glass and look forward to trying beers in this way. I feel Mikkeller's reputation and marketing proceeds itself at this point but Mikkeller SD makes some good beer. I look forward to seeing what London can produce and how they will add to the Mikkeller repertoire. Cheers gents!
Spent the afternoon there today and really get what you're saying about the eclectic menu. Had the gose, a west and east coast IPA, an Amber ale, a wild ale and then a DIPA. Loved the variety following a lockdown of haze, but the 55 to Walthamstow was a highlight which was superb! The amber ale was really great too and seems a rare style. I guess people think of Doom bar and back away
I'm jealous now...damn, that place looks awesome.
Thanks for another great video...and I just saw my name on the Patreon supporter list. Thanks guys!
I really like the little Rick Astley pub they have, been there quite a few times, this looks like a whole different ball game and would love to visit it!
Just cracking open a do stuff together, my new favourite , next time I’m in london this is top of my places to visit list !
Great video! I've not visited a brewpub but found one near me in Sydney I'll have to check out.
On my list the next time I’m up in London can’t wait 😊 👍👍🍻🍻👍
Saw this video on Wednesday last week and quickly changed plans to get there on Friday. It was brilliant. Tried too many to type here. This will be a new regular spot when back in London properly. Great video, great place. Thanks!

Great to hear!
I've been fortunate enough to visit Mikkeller Tokyo & San Francisco - looking forward to visiting one in the UK!
The only Mikeller bar I've been to is War Pigs and that was bloody amazing. Will definitely have to check this place out whenever travel into London feels safe and sensible!
Always ironic to see a guy brewing beer wearing an In My Eyes t-shirt. Boston Straight Edge FTW!
Love the content guys, just subscribed to Patreon to show some support too. Keep it up ^_~!

Bangkok is my fav, owned by one of Mikkel's school students
Did the hazy pale have a woody taste? I find Nottingham does that to my home brew hazys.
I like the close up of the "EXIT ONLY" sign...

I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and I find the opposite of what was said to be true. We have so many microbreweries doing a little bit of everything, that some have gone and started specializing in certain types to try and distinguish themselves from others. Angry Chair Brewing is known for their Stouts & Porters and Arkane Aleworks is known for their sour/tart beers.

We've made several films in Tampa Bay including Arkane! It's true it's a very varied area for brewing but I think you're describing exactly what we're talking about - finding that breweries are starting to specialise rather than hit lots of different styles.
What's your guys opinion on Alefarm. Had the Monolith, really LOVED that but besides that I've not had any. Would you say it's worth trying to get my hands on some more?
@TheCraftBeerChannel

ALways enjoyed their beers but it has been a LONG time since we had any - probably not since the last beer festival we went to, which would have been...October.
TIL Exmouth Market isn't in Exmouth :(
Sooo jealous of your luck. Nearest one to me is NYC. Enjoy the fabulous beers of Mikkeller. What was the Danish measurement for the size of their kit (or equivalent in barrels?) - Great vid - Cheers!
@triballus
3 жыл бұрын
Its not a danish measurement but the world standard (si units) of volume. It was 7,5 Heks (hektoliter) which correlates to 750L. Don't really know what that is in the freaky kolonial volume range.
@jcinsaniac
3 жыл бұрын
@@triballus THANKS! 750 L is 198.129 gallons, or roughly 6.393 barrels - ya, we are weird. I was curious since it looked larger than a 5 barrel system but not quite a 10 barrel.
I've never had a Belgian IPA ~*addends to do list*~

Awesome guys! Was just searching to pick up a copy of your beer school book but it's out of stock on Beer Merchants. Any idea where I could pick up a copy? I see it's on Amazon, but I want to make sure you dudes are getting the money, instead of greedy slimy Bazos! If you could point me in the most profitable direction for you dudes that'd be grand! Cheers :)

Do they have Busch latte
Mikkeller is fantastic but I've got to say, it's fucking expensive beer. Whenever I go to their taproom in LA or SF, I might try one of their beers but I usually stick to the guest taps.
@thekentishpilgrim
4 жыл бұрын
I agree with this. The Mikkeller own beer is hardly worth the premium anymore. It's more of a marketing machine than serious brewery I find. Sometimes they bust out something special like pentadruple raspberry or something and you plonk the money down to try a pretty rare gem but for the most part their bars are better for the guest beers they can bring into your town. LA is gone btw.
@iflanzy
4 жыл бұрын
@@thekentishpilgrim yeah, they often have a lot of amazing sours from places like Cascade or wherever and they're all cheaper and better than what they make in-house.
@TheCraftBeerChannel
4 жыл бұрын
This is super weird to hear. In Europe it is the opposite - the guest beers are more likely to be expensive.
@iflanzy
4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftBeerChannel For reference, if I go to the LA Mikkeller bar, which is the one I've gone to the most, it's going to usually be $2-$3 more per pint for one of their sours than for a sour made by another top brewery like Cascade. However their clean beers will be similar priced as the other clean beers if not only $1 more per pint.
