A scientist and a dangerous optimist, Dr. R.A. Mashelkar talks about the importance of green hydrogen as a green fuel in India's energy transition in conversation with Govindraj Ethiraj. R.A Mashelkar was a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and also of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet set up by successive governments. He has chaired twelve high powered committees set up to look into diverse issues ranging from national auto fuel policy to overhauling the Indian drug regulatory system & dealing with the menace of spurious drugs.     Methane is the richest source of Hydrogen. Hydrogen will never fail to show up itx poor energy density per unit volume.

    I still feel nuclear is the best option but if the govt is taking any initiative we should support it, as the saying goes something is better than nothing. Maybe in future when we have money to spend we can focus on nuclear energy. Japan has already created methods on creating green hydrogen using nuclear power.
